WHO'S NEXT?
In
the wake of Ruud Gullits resignation, speculation is bound to
grow
thick and fast on one subject - who will replace the Dutchman?
Bobby Robson is probably at the top of the list at the moment, but other
names floating around include
Glenn
Hoddle, Martin O'Neill, Terry Venables, Gordon Strachan and Andrew Smith.
Robson was rumoured to be a target when the club was looking for a replacement
for Kenny
Dalglish
last year, but Robson felt that the timing of the post's availability was
not right.
Following successful spells abroad since leaving the England role, the
66-year-old
could
be tempted by a crack at the Premiership.
Glenn Hoddle is doubtful, seeing his trouble with captain Shearer in the
past.
O'Neill might relish the chance to manage a big club, but won't leave Leicester
without a big reward.
Geordie fans might like the style of football Venables would bring to the
team, he would also
command
the respect of the players given his vast experience as a coach on the
European
and international arena.
Strachans name might pop up here and there, but it's doubtful he'll leave
Coventry.
And as for Andrew Smith, he says he's happy at the moment with Noarlunga
United
in
South Australia.
