DYER IN DOUBT FOR DERBY
Kieron
Dyer has been diagnosed as having a slight calf problem and is
still rated no better than 50-50 for the game against Derby
County
at St.James' Park on Monday night.
The
England international turned in a slightly lacklustre performance in Zurich
on
Thursday night, being taken off after 62 minutes. He was immediately rated
as doubtful for
Monday's
game, but the extent of the problem was not known.
However
Bobby Robson revealed today: " Kieron has a problem with both calves and
is
receiving
treatment. We are aware of what is causing the problem and we are acting.
It does
not
appear to be just a case of a slight strain, but neither is it anything
to worry about."
The Newcastle Manager said that it was too early to rule the player out
of Monday's
game,
saying instead: " We will have to take a close look at the situation over
the next
24/48
hours and make a decision perhaps on the evening of the game.
" There is no need to make a decision before then and we will have to see
how he reacts to the
treatment."
