Half time, 1-1, we were in with a shout. I'm not sure what Steve Clark said, but whatever it
was, it was outdone 10 times over by Sir Alex Ferguson, whose charges blew Newcastle
off the park in the second half.
14 minutes gone, Andy Cole, once a Newcastle player himself of course, played a lovely little
one two with Scholes before finishing in the bottom left corner.
The travelling Toon Army had something to cheer about after 31 minutes, when Dyer
broke well and released Barton down the right. His cross into the box was dangerous,
and Berg, under pressure from Duncan Ferguson, finished brilliantly.
There was more drama before half time when Paul Scholes put the ball in the net with
his hand, thankfully this time the ref didn't let it go.
Newcastle supporters could have risked a little optimisim going into the second half. 1-1
at Old Trafford, maybe we'd sneak a point or even all 3. But Cole soon put an end to that,
when a long ball from Stam found Cole running with Dabizas, out muscled the Greek and
fired past keeper Tommy Wright. Dabizas is outraged, claiming he was pushed off the ball,
and takes his protests way too far, getting himself sent off for protesting. He hadn't
even been booked previously.
11 minutes later and it was Cole once again. A lovely ball from Giggs, who outpaced Aaron Hughes
who was marking him and finished expertly.
It took only a further 5 minutes for Cole to claim his fourth. Neville played the ball in, and once
again Cole turned and finished brilliantly.
The rout was complete 10 minutes from time when Giggs squeezed a shot in from
a very tight angle.
The probable arrival of Bobby Robson couldn't come soon enough for the Geordies, who will
now be languishing  bottom in the premiership.
