Carl Cort
A tall, versatile striker
snapped up by Bobby Robson in July 2000. Cort came through the YTS scheme
at
his first club, Wimbledon,
who received 7 million when the lanky hitman moved to St James's Park.
His pace, strength,
great aerial ability and good close control make him a dangerous proposition
as a striker, but he has also been used as a wide midfielder in his career.
An established member
of the England under-21 squad which qualified impressively for the European
championship finals in Slovakia, Cort notched fifteen times last season
for the doomed Dons.
