Ruud Gullit infuriated Newcastle
fans when he didn't give former captain Lee a squad number for the 99/00
season, but the 33 year old vowed to stay and fight for his spot in the
first team.
Rob had been a vital
cog in Newcastles midfield after Kevin Keegan brought him to the club in
1992. He then played his way into the England setup and was absolutley
delighted to play for his country in the 1998 World Cup in France.
Although he had a
reputation as a strong attacking player, Rob has recently shown he can
play well as a defensive midfielder as well.
He spent ten years
with Charlton Athletic before joining Newcastle in 92/93 season.
