Alain Goma is one of three foreign defenders signed by Ruud Gullit in the Summer of '99, along with Elena Marcelino and Franck Dumas. He has been capped twice for France, and was a regular in the French under 21 side. 
  He joined French giants Paris Saint Germain in the Summer of '98 from AJ Auxerre, where he made nearly 200 appearences which included the French League Title in 1996. 
  A solid defender who can play anywhere in the back four, and should be a valuble asset for Newcastle for many seasons to come, thats if he stears clear of his French compatriot Nicolas Anelka.
