Kihon is the basic or fundamental movements of a Martial Arts system or "ryu". It involves the practice of one or several fundamental movements of a technique. They are repeated until the movements become reflexive or instinctive and the practitioner achieves a perfect action. Kime, the essence of karate techniques, is the focusing of all of one's psychological and physical forces on one point. This may be accomplished thru striking, punching, kicking, and blocking. It is said that "A technique lacking Kime can never be regarded as true Karate, no matter how great the resemblance to Karate.""A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step"
