Just moments ago team officials confirmed both of the trades. The trades pending league approval will bring in Julio Lugo, Rey Sanchez, Kevin McGlinchy, Ben Weber, Lou Pote, Jimmy Haynes and Doug Mientkiewicz. On the way out are Cliff Floyd, Vladmir Nunez, Russ Ortiz and AJ Burnett. The team also confirmed that it had made an offer to Free Agent Knuckle Baller Steve Sparks. To make room for the new comers on the roster the Marlins demoted Alex Gonzalez SS and new comer Jimmy Haynes SP. They also released Alex Cora, and Kyle Farnsworth

Team officials have not confirmed yet but our sources are telling us that the Marlins have indeed traded away Cliff Floyd.  The reports broke out just moments ago. Rumored to be headed to Seattle along with Cliff Floyd is Minor League Pitcher Vladmir Nunez. Coming over from the Mariners are OF Julio Lugo, SS Rey Sanchez, RP Kevin McGlinchy and RP Ben Weber. Reports also say that a 2nd deal between the teams in also finished. That deal sends AJ Burnett and Russ Ortiz to the Mariners for SP/RP Lou Pote, SP Jimmy Haynes and 1B Doug Mientkiewicz. The Florida Marlins have reportedly made an offer to Free-Agent Steve Sparks. The contract offer is said to be worth $500,000 although Club officials did say that they would raise the offer is some one else tries to match it.
