Match observations: Super Cade was designed by GLW President Ryan Niemiller to be the cornerstone of Great Lakes Wrestling, the "Big One" so to speak. With the all the matches and action we had, I think we have our cornerstone! From top to bottom, this night was spectacular! Enough talk; let's get right to it! For our opening contest, Indiana Kidd Jr. came down on crutches to do color commentary for the Ladder Match for a Television Title match tomorrow on Explosion. Kidd Jr. was injured last week by "The Juice" Juventud Guerrera, who would be taking on a mystery opponent in this match due to Kidd Jr.'s injury. Guerrera came out first and immediately began taunting Indiana Kidd Jr., but he soon changed his tune when his opponent was introduced as impressive newcomer Flash Flanagan! This match was the perfect way to start off this night, as it was terrific. These guys used the ladder as an effective weapon and pulled off moves that were just awe-inspiring. Throughout the match, every time Guerrera would get the advantage, he would gyrate or dance towards Indiana Kidd Jr., basically taunting him. Eventually, it became too much for Indiana Kidd Jr. The Juice was on the top rope and began taunting Kidd Jr. some more, which prompted the former Television champion to leave the broadcast table and blast Guerrera in the back with a crutch! Flash Flanagan recovered and climbed the ladder and grabbed the contract and has earned himself a Television Title shot tomorrow night on Explosion! What a match! Up next we had a special bonus match with Erik Watts taking on the newly acquired "Beast From The East" Bam Bam Bigelow. Needless to say, Bigelow looked awesome. Watts did what he could, but he was obviously still favoring his knee after the attack on him by Brian Adias last week. Bigelow gets an impressive victory with the Greetings From Asbury Park. Falls-Count-Anywhere matches are meant to be hardcore, and with the hatred between Brian Adias and Mark "The Shark" Schrader, this one fit the bill! Schrader is a fan favorite and generally plays by the rules, but he pulled out all the stops in this battle! Both these guys took full advantage of the Falls-Count-Anywhere stipulation, fighting it out through the crowd, the concession stands, even into the men's room! After a lot of weapon usage, Schrader and Adias ended up back in the ring, both wearing crimson masks. Schrader would go on to hit the Schrader-plex and get the duke in a hard fought battle. We already saw earlier in the night that Flash Flanagan had earned a Television Title shot for tomorrow night, but who would earn the World Tag Team Title shot tomorrow against Ace Darling & Devon Storm? We'd find out after this Four- Corners Match involving the Movement, the Headhunters, Suicidal Tendencies, and the Superstars of Grunge. "Superstar" Steve Boz & Skank labored hard to get into this match, outsmarting the recently released New Powers of Pain to get put into this match, and I think they might have gotten a little too cocky when Boz started the match off with Air Paris. Boz didn't take Paris seriously at all and that cost them big as in just over 2 minutes, a leaping swinging DDT put him down and out! The Superstars of Grunge through a fit to say the least, and the Chicago crowd loved every second of it. The Superstars of Grunge proved to be very sore losers as they came back down a few minutes later and tripped Paris up causing him to fall right a Mike Burton Gorilla Press which was followed by the Ace Crusher from Johnny Ace and thus eliminated Suicidal Tendencies. The Superstars of Grunge and Suicidal Tendencies would brawl to the locker room. The Headhunters quickly went on the offensive catching The Movement off guard and their mammoth size was enough to overcome Burton & Ace as Burton was almost squashed by a huge Moonsault. The Headhunters will try to regain their World Tag Team Titles tomorrow night against Ace Darling & Devon Storm, much to the Extremists' chagrin. Pierre Oulette has been nearly unstoppable in the GLW, being undefeated and the Television champion, but he would have his hands full tonight with Colorado Kid. If Oulette has one weakness, it could be his stamina, and he would need some stamina tonight as this was a 30-minute Iron Man Match! Whoever gets the most falls in 30 minutes wins. The first few minutes were pretty uneventful as both men were feeling each other out and conserving some energy. Colorado Kid would go on the offensive though and would pick up the first fall with the Rocky Mountain Flattop. A few minutes later, C-Kid would blast Oulette with an elbowdrop from the second turnbuckle and take a 2 to 0 lead over the champ. This was definitely not the Pierre Oulette we were used to seeing; maybe it was nerves, maybe it was underestimating Colorado Kid. Either way, Oulette started to settle down and at a little over the midway point of this match, picked up his first fall after the Cannonball to make the tally 2 to 1. Oulette would continue the onslaught for the next few minutes and tied up the score with just under ten minutes to go with the Cannonball once again. The final third of this match was absolutely amazing. Both of these wrestlers were trying everything they could think of to break the tie, but both Oulette and C-Kid kicked out of everything. Oulette would make a huge mistake late in the match as he went for a flying legdrop but C-Kid rolled out of the way. C-Kid would then hit the Rocky Mountain Flattop and took a 3-2 lead with under a minute to go! Oulette got desperate and tried everything he could think of to get a fall on C-Kid, but C-Kid was able to survive and by a score of 3-2, Colorado Kid is the new Television champion! Oulette is no longer undefeated and he was so upset about losing his title that he nailed C-Kid between the eyes with the title belt, leaving him out cold! Colorado Kid may have been the winner, but he certainly didn't look like it. Midwestern champion Doc Dean has shown in the past that he will do anything to keep his title, including faking injury to get out of matches. Tonight though, he looked very impressive against the ultra talented "New F'N Show" Jerry Lynn. Dean wrestled a good match, but in the end, he just couldn't help but cheat. While the ref was distracted by Brian Adias, Dean pulled a pair of brass knuckles out of his trunks and waffled Lynn with them. Dean made the cover and got the 3 count. Lynn was all in all screwed tonight, but whether we like it or not, Doc Dean is still the Midwestern champion. Our next match was one we were all looking forward to as Gran Hamada and "Greatness Himself" The Perfect Creation locked up in what would prove to be a hard-hitting battle. Since The Perfect Creation felt he was screwed out of the World Title last month at Slam Masters: Crunch Time by Hamada, he has shown a meanstreak that he's not known for, even turning on the only two people he could consider friends here in Great Lakes Wrestling, Sebastian P. Sterling & Mike White. If you were looking for a wrestling classic, you should have looked somewhere else as these two were just trying to punish each other. By the end of this match, both these men were exhausted. Hamada thought he had TPC ready to finish off as he went for the Swinging DDT, but TPC had a little extra left in the tank as he managed to counter it and turn it into the Spinning Northern Lights Bomb and picked up a huge victory over Hamada. Hamada has no reason to hang his head though as he wrestled as hard as he could. It'll be interesting to see how this match affects the World Title picture. It was time for the huge 10-man Elimination Match between the Extremists and the team of the Armstrongs, Ken Shamrock, and Tank Abbott, and what an emotionally charged matchup this was! Ever since Brad Armstrong's mysterious leaving of Great Lakes Wrestling, tensions between these two factions have been running high, with "The Roaddog" Jesse James Armstrong coming to the GLW to take down the Extremists. However, the Extremists have become stronger in recent weeks with the addition of Rhino. It didn't take long before this one broke open. "Wonderkid" Jonny Storm had the unenviable task of trying to stop "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. Jonny Storm wasn't looking forward to it either, so he grabbed a steel chair and went to the top rope while Shamrock was down in the ring. Storm went for a big splash, but Shamrock moved out of the way and the Wonderkid's face slammed right into the chair! Shamrock made the cover and Jonny Storm was eliminated. In the next part of the match, the Extremists took over, namely, Devon Storm, who is one half of the World Tag Team champions. He first got the better of Scott Armstrong pinning him with a flying bodypress, and then Steve Armstrong, who caught a crowbar shot right in between the eyes while Dawn Marie had the referee distracted. Devon Storm would hit a roadblock in the form of the Roaddog though, as Jesse James Armstrong got a little revenge for his brothers, pinning Devon Storm with the Road Rage, making it even, 3 members a piece. After that, things evened out in this match and it was quite competitive and spirited. Throughout a lot of the match, Tank Abbott and Rhino went at each other, a classic power vs. power battle. Abbott would get the better of it in this match though, as he knocked Rhino out with the Forearm Choke. Shamrock went on a rampage and no matter what Lance Storm and Ace Darling did, Shamrock seemed impervious to pain. Lance Storm was pinned after a picture perfect Frankensteiner, and Darling, despite the effort, was pitted with a 3 on 1 disadvantage and was planted with a tiger driver. Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbott, and Jesse James Armstrong are the survivors. Hopefully this feud is over and all these guys can move on. We were down to our main event, and what a perfect way to end the evening. Big Titan earned this World Title shot last month with a victory over Gran Hamada (and an assist from The Perfect Creation, might I add). Masato Tanaka is the first World champion, and he has been nearly unstoppable, losing only one match thus far, and that was on a cheap countout. Tanaka almost doesn't feel pain and he's one of the hardest hitters in Great Lakes Wrestling and a very worthy champion. Much of the same can be said about Big Titan, who is one of the meanest, nastiest wrestlers on the planet. After this match, it's a testimant to both individuals that they're even walking. There were so many "oohs" and "aahs" after moves that had impact that would snap most normal men in half. The referee made a wise decision in just letting this match go without calling for a disqualification, because the GLW loyal fans were here to see fantastic action, and that's what they got. In the end of this hard fought match, Tanaka proved why he is considered a tough guy, as he did the impossible and kicked out of Big Titan's crushing Power Bomb! Titan couldn't believe it, and frankly, neither could I! Titan continued the onslaught, but Tanaka fought back and muscled Titan up for a running release power bomb that made the crowd explode! Moments later, Tanaka hit the Roaring Elbow and got the 1-2-3 and is still Great Lakes Wrestling World Heavyweight champion! What a great match to end a great evening! The show came to an end with Tanaka holding his title high as the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
