Long Beach State announced yesterday that three players from the 97-98 men's squad have left the team. Sophmore Ardis Curtis has announced that he is transfering to play for Cameron Dollar at Southern California College. Sophmores Derek Emery and Marcus Gradney have announced that they will attend Junior Colleges.
The departures of Gradney and Emery should not be viewed as losses. They were young kids that were not going to see any playing time in the near future. The departure of Curtis is strange considering that this leaves the BEACH with NO point guard for next years team. Have'nt we been down this road before??? Even if O'Neal is eligible, what is the back-up plan in the event he is injured, sick, encounters foul trouble etc. Is anybody listening??? HELLO?
