Here's another one which was sort of buried in
the Manual Arts High School team preview: James Wright (6'-0" Sr. PG) and
certainly one of the best point guards and most exciting players on the west coast, has
given a verbal committment to Long Beach State. According to Randolph Simpson,
Manual's coach, James wants to attend college close to home so he can be near his mother
and the rest of his family, and he just thought Long Beach State was a perfect fit.
No word on where else he was looking, but this is a great pickup for the 49'ers.
James is quick, strong, and can drive, penetrate, dish or distribute the ball to
the open man very well. He was just named to the Orange County Register "Fab 15"
Third team along with teammate Johnny Hardwick (6'-10" Sr. C) who has verballed to
Texas A&M.
