Answer, and the Wrestling Demonstrators

by Greg Steele ("mixedfan" on Yahoo) answerwest@aol.com

The AMFem Directory presumably lists "amateurs," but many of the women listed charge for their services. Answer, which started being listed shortly after the directory started, was initially simply a PO box designed to match guys and women interested in wrestling. Then a guy in Texas complained that he could not find anyone there, and Answer couldn't help, until correspondence showed he had not tried simply asking his wife, and did not know how to proceed. With a few suggestions the two were soon happily enjoying this fine martial/marital art.

After some similar incidents, Answer also became the source of what became a series of manuals, first, on getting one's wife or girl friend to wrestle, and, later, on finding suitable women and then interesting them in wrestling. The series gained from experience and suggestions and moved into a final phase, with the aid of a comic book, Shiny of the Jungle that communicated essentials better and more enjoyably: in this phase all the previous objectives were addressed, but also it addressed the more difficult matter of finding and interesting women in becoming wrestling demonstrators.

There proved to be women who could benefit from a start in that profession, and who would reward their trainer with free or low cost sessions, particularly if they had a useful training role that allowed the woman to safely earn the high fees women who wrestle men can command, at least in certain urban areas.

Then Answer began to distribute a unique video tape designed to accomplish all the previous goals, but to do so far more effectively. A stunning, capable, and intelligent, experienced woman wrestler produced it with me and I wrote a manual aimed at training guys to use the tape effectively. The resulting course was unique and trained men to greatly reduce the costs of wrestling, which had, meanwhile, become quite high. They were encouraged to make some appropriate use of experienced pros who were truly worth their fee, but shown how to spend more of their time with nonpros - increasing their fun and wrestling time.

The tape, used in the way the manual describes, is designed to get many appropriate women launched in wrestling the guy in about half an hour. Once launched, if she follows the course suggestions, she is able to improve steadily, having safe, enjoyable sessions from the start. The course enjoyably makes good wrestling practice fairly easy for a capable woman.

Initially the course was sold on bid, especially to those who would comment helpfully. Although the course could save some guys thousands, bidding was restricted by a top of $100 and the course was guaranteed.

No one asked for his money back or complained. All were impressed with the technical quality and attractiveness of the tape. The manual was (and still is) personalized for each customer (a process requiring several hours).

After considerable refinement, it was advertised through several Yahoo clubs and came to be sold at a fixed price of $60. It continues to be refined.

While a guy who spends $200-$400/session and who wants to wrestle regularly can greatly reduce his cost with the course, the overall effect of the course has probably been to increase business for responsible, capable women wrestlers.

It has done this by making the sport more acceptable to faithful husbands, wives, girl friends and others. It also mentions some of the more reputable women wrestlers and sources of information such as Wrestling Demonstrators. There I hope some guys who need the course will find this article of interest.

Women who wish to be mentioned in the course should correspond with answerwest@aol.com. Guys who wish to nominate capable women might also do so.

Editorial Comment

Wrestling Fun hopes to be able to arrange an independent review of this product by Tina Troy, author of Playing Hard at a later date. Ms Troy is in fact a professional writer with many books under different pen names. She wrote on the subject of m/f wrestling under comission from Virgin Publishing, rather than being an enthusiast herself, so should be able to give an objective opinion if she is willing to spare the time.

In the meantime if any Wrestling Fun reader has used this product he may like to review it for us.

Assuming that it works, it can be recommended on the basis that many may find the commercial process demeaning both for themselves and the vendor, regardless of the cost. Getting your wife involved is also a very positive element, as is getting her cooperation if you still want to widen your experience with the professionals. If you are considering costs, this is far cheaper than the financial rape of the divorce courts!
