Pro’s and Con’s of Slavery:

The con of slavery is what we have all grown up with. It has been ingrained in our minds since we were youths. And all because no one has wanted to deal with the issue ever again. So it is with this consideration that I deal with the con first.

For starters we remember that for as long as I and any one else that I know can remember, we have been taught that slavery is immoral, and wrong. This statement is based upon the bible, and what others call plain old common sense. But why? Slavery takes the rights of another human. God created not one race better than the other, but all races equal. I takes away the free will of another. But the main reason for all of this is pure laziness. On our, or the owner/masters part. It is us who wish to sit back, and watch the work be done. We don’t work hard, we make others do our work.

And for one. Where do the slaves come from. Africa mostly. Torn away from their families, and their way of life. Runaway slaves, when returned are beaten as a form of punishment. Slaves are treated as less than property. Another con for the owner is that they have to supply housing, and food for them.

But now here we go with the Pro’s of slavery. I am gonna have to take a stab in the dark at this one. Seeing as I have never been taught any of this.

First, agriculture. Without slaves it would not be possible in the scale that it is without slaves. They are able to provide care that one man or a machine could never provide. They are good workers. Their life is not to hard. They are giv3en food, shelter, alowed to marry and to have a family. Masters become after so many years almost friends that a slave works for. Eventually many were able to earn their freedom. That is through hard work and determination.

The only place that slavery was implemented, the weather is most enjoyable, and similar to their natural climate. Besides I suppose that you could say that we were doing the black a favor, by enslaving them. In Africa, enslavement is practiced all of the time. Usually it has to do with debts and such stuff. But also during wars between tribes it happens also. So it is then to say that we doing them a favor also, because many slaves were taught to read and write, and they learned how to make them selves of great worth.

To tell you the truth I my self think that slavery is wrong. But I have more than once thought of how nice it would be if I could have someone to work for me without paying them. Hasn’t everyone? One of my main problems was brainstorming either ways. I don’t think of slavery often so the pro’s and con’s didn’t come easily. But I do hope that you enjoy my paper.
