MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 are
packed into the MMP Coliseum for tonight's event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray
Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I'm
Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight, only days removed from our huge
Moonlight PPV event in Washington, the future of the world title is very much in doubt.
Captain Patrick O'Conner was dominant in defending the title against Korso this past
Wednesday, but tonight he is set to meet Super Cupid, a member of The Congregation, in
our main event. Cupid hasn't wrestled in a couple of weeks and is going into this match
fresh, which could play a big role in tonight's outcome as O'Conner is going into his third
title defense in the past eight days.
Brewer: O'Conner's going to be in tough tonight, there's no doubt about that, but that's
not all. We also have what is now a semi-final match in the Hall of Fame tournament
when "Stunning" Steve Simon and the new MMP extreme champion, Masked Menace X,
meet one on one. Happenings over the past week have led MMP officials to suspend both
The Bootlegger and Hyoga, putting both of them out of the competition. This means that
the winner tonight between MMX and Simon will go on to Best of the Best to meet the
winner of the Destroyer/Malice match to take place that night, with the winner earning a
shot at the MMP world title in December.
Wood: We have three other championship matches on tap as well tonight. In a rematch of
the contest we saw on Wednesday at Moonlight, Dr. No Limit is set to defend the TV title
against Wolverine. The tag titles will be on the line when Virus Richards and a mystery
partner put the Upstanding Citizens' championship up against Intoxicated, the CWO team
of Mr. Beumont and "Cup" Cooper. To kick things off tonight it's the midwestern
championship at stake. Hot Crimson, fresh off of a succesful defense at Moonlight against
"Amazing" Andrew Peters, battles it out with the big Samoan who recently reunited with
Patrick O'Conner, George Achica.
MMP Midwestern Championship Match
HOT CRIMSON
(C) vs. GEORGE ACHICA
George came to the ring first alone, making things look bad for the big
Samoan right from the start since Hot Crimson was accompanied by the usual allotment of
Cult minions. One of the minions was carrying a sign that read "O'Conner's End is Near".
Seeing that he was at a disadvantage George charged at Crimson as soon as he stepped
into the ring, dropping the champion with a running clothesline. As soon as Crimson hit
the canvas George was all over him, delivering a series of big kneedrops to Crimson's
inner knee joint. He then pulled Crimson up and whipped him to the far turnbuckle where
George came running in with another clothesline but Crimson, showing his resiliency,
caught the challenger coming in with a spinning heel kick. The big man went down hard,
but Crimson didn't waste any time in following up. He quickly yanked George back to his
feet and whipped him off the ropes, nailing a stiff kick to the midsection followed by a
DDT. After dropping a knee across the big man's chest, Crimson applied a dragon
sleeper. Wrenching back on the head and neck, Crimson seemed to have George right
where he wanted him. The minions, who were now surrounding the ring, watched closely,
offering their unwavering support to the midwestern champion. The referee checked on
George to see if he wanted to give up, but George's raised arm didn't even drop once. The
first time the ref checked, George reached back and grabbed Crimson by the back of the
head and pulled him forward, right into a raised knee that caught Crimson square in the
temple. A second such shot broke the hold and George got back to his feet. After taking
a moment to shake the cobwebs from Crimson's sleeper George charged the champion
with a clothesline, but Crimson ducked and tried to pick George up for a hotshot. The
weight of the Samoan was too much for Crimson, though, and George managed to block
it before delivering an elbowsmash to the back of the head. Crimson doubled over,
allowing George to pick him up in a pumphandle which he then turned into a powerslam.
He then went back to work on Crimson's knee, driving his own knee into the joint again.
With Crimson hurting and hurting bad, George pulled him up and lifted him in the air with
a gorilla press slam...dropping Crimson all the way over the top rope and down to the
floor. He then stepped out to the apron and came off with a flying elbow, but the elbow
missed the mark. Two of the Cult minions had pulled Crimson out of the way. They
quickly rolled Crimson back in the ring, but the minions were suddenly attacked from
behind by two other Cult members. At least, they looked like Cult members. Tossing
their hoods aside, the rebel minions were revealed to be Captain Patrick O'Conner and
Thomas! O'Conner with his trusty shileleah and Thomas with a Samoan war club, the two
men fought back the swarm of minions, allowing George to pull himself together and get
back in the ring. As he got back in Crimson bounced off the far ropes with a flying
bodypress, but George caught him in midair and turned it into a shoulderbreaker. Then,
with Crimson lying prone on the canvas, George went to the top rope. Crimson staggered
back to his feet and George came off with the Coconut Express. The momentum of the
big man coming in from the top, however, allowed Crimson to roll through, hooking
George's leg and leaning back with all he had as the ref counted 1...2...3.
Wood: Mark down another one in the win column for Hot Crimson.
George certainly seemed rejuvenated out there tonight, but it wasn't enough to upend the
midwestern champion.
Brewer: Hot Crimson's been on quite a winning streak as of late. Ever since he won the
title in that four way match about a month ago he's looked good, beating some tough
opponents - first Peters at Moonlight, and now Achica here tonight.
Wood: Up next is the MMP world tag team championship, although many are billing this
as a title vs. title match with Beumont and Cooper putting their Hobo Wrestling
Association belts on the line. These belts are definitely not recognized by the MMP, they
don't really carry any weight in the wrestling world as a whole to be perfectly honest, but
they are up for grabs in this tag team contest.
MMP Tag Team Championship Match
VIRUS
RICHARDS & ??? vs. INTOXICATED
The CWO made their way to the ring first, tonight dressed as Virus
Richards' former stablemates from GX. Calling themselves the Geriatric Xpress, Mr.
Beumont led the way out dressed as Diamond King, leaning hunched over a walker which
he slowly pushed down to the ring. Cooper was painted black and was carrying a worn,
old Sudan flag, mimicking Jamaal. Welfare William and Hobo Richard were dressed as
DNL and Carl Donovan respectively. Beumont and Cooper were carrying the HWA tag
title belts. Virus Richards then came out, dressed normally and without the wheelchair.
He was wearing both MMP tag belts around his waist. He got on the mic to introduce his
partner as The Ryno's music started to play. The crowd errupted in cheers, but those
cheers quickly turned to boos as Michael made his way down to the ring. With him was a
manequin with a cheap dollar-store rhinoceros mask over it's head, being dragged down to
the ring by a noose around it's neck. Virus introduced the dummy, Ryan, as his tag team
partner and tied it to the ring post, leaving it hanging by the neck a couple feet above the
floor. Beumont charged at Virus, but Virus grabbed him by the head and simply tossed
him through the ropes to the floor. Virus then went after Cup, who was at least partially
inebriated in the corner. He pulled Cup into the ring and nailed him with the Ryno Charge
before covering him for the pin. While this was going on, Psychotic Sam came running
down to the ring with the MMP/GWF belt around his waist, screaming "title defense,
title defense". He ripped Ryan down from the post and started slamming it on the
floor while The Saint and Mike the Giant Retard came running out. When they arrived
Sam made the cover on Ryan and Saint counted the three. After the three count, Mike
held up a big sign that read "Chicken Chow Mein Victim #6". Seeing what was going on,
Virus just glared at Sam shaking his head, then turning around and grabbing the HWA
belts. He headed back to the dressing room with Michael behind him, but he never saw
The Joker's Child and Ponch hopping the guard rail behind him. Joker grabbed Michael
and held a knife to his throat, threatening to cut him if Virus came near him. Virus just
laughed and waved Joker off, heading back to the locker room. Joker and Ponch left with
Michael.
Wood: So now what? Are Virus and that dummy now the hobo
champions?
Brewer: Does it matter? No, not in the least. If he wants to parade around with a couple
of melted down Pepsi cans with the letters "HWA" written across the front, that's his
business. As long as he doesn't start defending the MMP belts against teams of transients
on a regular basis, I really don't care either way.
Wood: And what about that shameful display with the manequin? Obviously Ryan, The
Ryno, has had some serious problems for him to do what he did last week. It's not
something that other wrestlers should be making light of. He's going to need the support
of the entire MMP behind him in recovering from his current situation. Our best wishes
go out to Ryan, who I know is watching from the institution. We've got another title
match on the way next, this time a return bout from Wednesday night in Washington as
DNL defends the TV title for the second time in four days against Wolverine. Wolverine
has had a rough time against DNL over their past few meetings. Can he turn it around
here tonight?
MMP Television Championship Match
DR. NO LIMIT (C)
vs. WOLVERINE
Wolverine took it right to DNL from the opening bell, tossing him off
the ropes and taking him down with a drop toehold. DNL was quicky back to his feet, but
he was caught right away with a boot to the midsection. Grabbing the back of his
opponent's head, Wolverine rammed DNL face first into his knee, then picking him up and
delivering a sidewalk slam. The challenger was having his way through the early going.
After dropping two elbows across the sternum of his opponent, Wolverine sat DNL up
and dropkicked him in the back of the head. He then pulled DNL up and tossed him over
the top rope, which drew a warning from the referee. Wolverine argued, turning around
to draw the official's attention away from DNL on the outside. With the ref's back turned,
Wolverine's backup man, The Annihilator, came hurrying down to the ring with two
pumpkins in a wheelbarrow. Wolverine kept the ref occupied while Annihilator snatched
one of the pumpkins, smashing it over DNL's head. He then took off to the back, leaving
the wheelbarrow and the second pumpkin at ringisde. Seeing DNL down, Wolverine
pushed past the ref and grabbed his opponent, nailing him with the Michigan Death
Driver! He rolled DNL over and make the cover, holding him down for the three count to
capture the gold. The new champ then jumped down to the floor and grabbed the second
pumpkin, setting it in the ring and delivering a second MDD, this time driving DNL down
on the pumpkin. Wolverine then grabbed the TV belt and headed back to the dressing
room, leaving quite a mess in the ring and on the outside.
Wood: Well folks, it looks like we have a new TV champion! For the
first time in his MMP career, Wolverine has snared the television title, beating one of his
main rivals in DNL for his third career singles title.
Brewer: That was a truly dominating performance out of Wolverine tonight. Word
backstage was that he really wanted to beat DNL tonight and snap this recent losing
streak, and it looks like he's done just that. This could have interesting ramifications on
the Best of the Best PPV event, as it had been rumored that Wolverine would be
challenging Masked Menace X for the extreme title. Whether that will still be the
case...well, we'll have to wait and see.
Wood: Speaking of Masked Menace X, tonight could have even more ramifications for
him as it pertains to our November PPV offering. His match with Wolverine is now in
doubt, but up next he has a chance to get within one match of headlining our December
PPV with a shot at the MMP world title. Standing in his way tonight is Steve Simon, a
man who has defeated MMX in both of their prior meetings. Simon has said that this Hall
of Fame tournament is all that he cares about right now, even laying down for Daark at
Moonlight to conserve his energy for tonight's match. A big opportunity for both men,
let's go to the ring.
Hall of Fame Tournament Semi-Finals
"STUNNING"
STEVE SIMON vs. MASKED MENACE X
MMX came to the ring first, carrying his newly won extreme
championship. He was flanked by members of the CWO. The crowd cheered as "White
Wedding" was played over the loudspeaker, introducing SSS and Kristin. Also with
Simon tonight were his parents, Harry and Ellen Simon. Simon was careful to make sure
that his parents were OK at ringside before getting in the ring, and the delay cost him. As
soon as Simon was between the ropes MMX dove and took out his legs, dropping Simon
to the canvas at the opening bell. He then isolated Simon's knee, delivering two
elbowdrops across the joint to slow Simon down in the early going. MMX backed up to
gloat to the crowd, giving Simon time to hobble to his feet with the aid of the ropes. The
extreme champ then grabbed him in a headlock but Simon quickly ducked away, slipping
out the back door and rolling out under the bottom rope to the floor. MMX slowly
walked over to the ropes and dared Simon to get back in the ring, but SSS would have
none of that. Instead he reached in under the bottom, grabbed MMX's leg and pulled him
out to the floor. Tripping MMX's legs out from under him, Simon drove MMX face first
into the concrete floor, leaving the extreme champ grabbing his head in pain. Simon then
set MMX on the apron and rolled back into the ring. As MMX was getting back to his
feet on the apron Simon bounced off the far ropes and slingshot himself over top of MMX
in a sunset flip-like move. He pulled MMX down off the apron, slamming him down to
floor with a powerbomb. The referee came over and shouted at Simon to get back in the
ring, which he did. When MMX followed Simon demonstrated his technical proficiency
by slapping MMX in a full nelson. Before long, though, MMX shot a boot back behind
him, catching Simon with a mule kick to the groin. Naturally Simon was forced to release
the hold, and he stood doubled over in the ring. After ignoring the referee's
admonishments, MMX grabbed Simon and delivered a piledriver. This, however, brought
Harry Simon up onto the ring apron. Harry was shouting at MMX, berating him for
cheating in a match against his son. MMX walked over to the retired wrestler and laid
into him with a barrage of insults, and then Hobo Richard jumped up on the apron and
asked Harry if he had any spare change. In the meantime, Steve Simon was getting back
to his feet. With MMX's back turned to him, Simon charged and delivered a clothesline to
the back of MMX's head. The force of the impact sent MMX into the ropes, knocking
both Harry and Richard to the floor. Ellen Simon ran over to check on her husband, but
the CWO pushed her out of the way and started going through the old man's pockets.
SSS stepped through the ropes to back them away, but before he could get out to the
floor, MMX grabbed him and rolled him into a small package for the 1...2...3!! MMX
rolled out to the floor and called the CWO off. The Family group quickly took off for the
dressing room while a concerned SSS rushed to his father's side.
Wood: This has to be considered at least a minor upset, as Masked
Menace X has advanced into the finals of the Hall of Fame tournament at Best of the Best,
where he will have a chance to earn a shot at the MMP world title. Steve Simon can't be
very happy with this turn of events.
Brewer: No, I don't imagine he will be. I don't know what it is about Simon. He seems to
have lost his edge. Ever since this whole thing with his parents it hasn't been the same
Steve Simon in the ring. It's as if he has no killer instinct anymore. And if you ask me, it's
all that damn Harry Simon's fault! I remember Harry Simon from my days in the ring. He
was just going out as I was coming in. He was one of those guys who thought he was the
greatest thing going, but it was as if he didn't realize that he was one of the greatest things
going about fifteen years earlier and that, by that point, all he did was take up a spot on
the card that should have gone to one of the younger guys. I heard once that the only
reason he was kept around so long was because he was buddy-buddy with the promoter in
our area, and the guy just couldn't bring himself to show Harry the door. We all resented
him for it, but he eventually, shall we say, got the hint. Harry's dragging his boy down
because he wants to relive the glory years, and I think it's a crying shame.
Wood: I don't think that's true at all. I don't know Mr. Simon like
you claim to, but from what I've seen he's nothing but a gentleman. These claims of yours
don't sound right at all, although that wouldn't be the first time you've made something up
to suit your interests. Folks it's time for the MMP world title to be decided. Captain
Patrick O'Conner defends the belt against Super Cupid next.
MMP World Championship Match
CAPTAIN PATRICK
O'CONNER (C) vs. SUPER CUPID
O'Conner made his way to the ring first, accompanied by his personal
assistant Thomas. Tonight, however, he was also accompanied by several large men who,
as was indicated by their shirts, represented the longshoreman's union Local 839. When
Cupid's music hit, though, nobody came out. Instead, the giant video screen picked up a
shot of Cupid. He was at the shipyard, standing in front of a ship.
Cupid: Now I know that I was supposed to be with all of you tonight for this big world
title match. But I figured that with the Captain back from sea, no one would be watching
his boat. Well Pat, me and the boys thought that we would check it out and make sure the
damn thing is sea worthy.
Masochrist, Ouija, and Pablo then walked off the ship. Pablo was wearing a seaman's
outfit, one that was many sizes too big for him. Ouija was carrying a picture of
O'Conner's late wife, Paulina. Maso had a gas can. Pablo then handed Cupid a ring
box.
Cupid: Now Pat, do you recognize this ring? This wouldn't happen to be Paulina's
ring, now would it? Pat, I don't want your title. Not yet anyway. What I want is to see
you suffer. Maso, may I do the pleasures?
Maso then handed Cupid a book of matches. He set the book ablaze and tossed them
onto the boat.
Cupid: I hope you had insurance Pat!
A stunned world champion stood silently in the ring as the screen fades to black.
