HASSAN ABU SAADA vs. SCOOTER
Scooter came to the ring first, dressed in a mummy outfit in an obvious
mockery of his opponent. Many months after making his first MMP appearance, Scooter
was finally ready to make his debut in singles competition. Hassan then made his way
down, accompanied by his usual compliment of slaves. He seemed unphased by Scooter's
unusual ring attire, catching Scooter with a quick kick to the midsection and a legsweep.
Not letting up on his less experienced opponent, Hassan pulled Scooter up and whipped
him hard into the turnbuckle but Scooter surprised the sold out crowd as he shot quickly
out of the corner and floored his much bigger opponent with a spear tackle. Hassan rolled
out to the floor to regroup, but Scooter didn't give him much room as he came flying
through the middle ropes with a suicide dive that rocked Hassan back against the safety
rail. Scooter rolled Hassan back in and looked to keep the match at an up-tempo pace,
but made a critical mistake when he attempted a huracanrana. Hassan caught Scooter in
mid air and drove the young man from Illinois hard into the canvas. Scooter was slow to
get up and when he finally reached his feet, Hassan approached from behind and applied a
cobra clutch! The youngster fought hard to break the hold, but leveredge from Hassan's
400-plus-pound frame pressing down on him was too much. The referee checked
Scooter's arm, and he was out. The bell sounded and Hassan was awarded the decision,
much to the relief of the slaves on the outside.
MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! The MMP Coliseum is sold out in anticipation
of tonight's event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I'm
Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight we have three big title matches on tap
for you, including a much anticipated battle for the midwestern title in our main event this
evening. It's title vs. career as Super Cupid puts not only his career, but that of the entire
Congregation on the line against Hot Crimson later on here at the MMP
Coliseum.
Brewer: That's a pretty gutsy move on the part of Super Cupid. He really hasn't been on
top of his game since returning to the MMP, and Hot Crimson has put together a rather
impressive string of victories over the past couple of months. I must say, though, Cupid is
a former two time midwestern champion, and I don't think he was favored to win either
time he captured the title. The Congregation has always been able to put something
together when everything's on the line, and tonight Cupid's back is against the wall. It's
put up or shut up time, and if there's one thing the men from Quincy don't do, it's shut
up.
Wood: We've also got the final three qualifying matches for the Hall of Fame tournament
on tap tonight as six men will do battle for the final three spots in the elite field of eight
men who will vie for a shot at the world championship coming up in December. Before
we go to our first match, let's send you to some footage that our cameras picked up just
moments ago involving one of the men who will be involved in the qualifying round this
evening, Masked Menace X.
MMX is walking backstage when he comes across an MMP referee.
He grabs the man by the lapels and pins him against the wall.
MMX: WHERE THE HELL IS THE REF THAT DECIDED TO STICK HIS NOSE
INTO MY MATCH LAST WEEK??
Referee: I don't know w..w..who are you talking about?
MMX: BULLSHIT! Either you tell me know or I beat the hell out of you.
The referee maintained that he didn't know what MMX was talking about and MMX
tossed him into a group of garbage cans before heading on down the corridor.
TAO TE CHING vs. MALICE
Tao came to the ring first, led down the runway by his new ally in The
Family, The Saint. As Malice made his way down the runway, he stopped and spotted a
girl in the crowd who was wearing the new Malice t-shirt. With his trademark camera
around his neck, Malice stopped to take a picture of the girl before heading down to the
ring. He quickly dove in under the bottom rope and tackled the startled Tao, straddling
the man and laying into him with a flurry of quick punches to the head. Tao was
obviously caught off guard by Malice's quick opening and Malice took advantage of it,
sending Tao off the ropes and catching him with a backdrop that sent Tao up towards the
rafters of the arena. Tao scrambled towards the ropes but Malice caught him, pulling Tao
back towards the middle of the ring and applying a Boston crab. With the match under
Malice's control, fans along the runway got to their feet. The camera then cut over,
picking up a shot of Hassan Abu Saada, Malice's opponent at Moonlight, heading down
towards the ring. Malice saw it as well, causing him to inadvertantly lighten up on the
Boston crab and giving Tao the chance to make his way to the ropes and force a break.
Hassan's slaves surrounded one half of the ring, drawing Malice over to face off with his
hated rival, leaving his back turned to Tao. The ref came over to break up the argument
between Malice and Hassan, and when Malice turned around he was caught with a low
blow and an inverted DDT. The crowd booed loudly as Tao took over the match,
hooking a dragon sleeper on his fallen opponent. He held the painful hold for several
minutes, inciting the fans to start a "bor-ing, bor-ing" chant. This didn't seem to phase
Tao, who just pulled back farther and farther as the crowd got louder. The referee
stepped in to check on Malice. The arm fell once. It fell twice. It fell...Malice shot his
arm up in the air on the third drop, showing that he was still in the match. He then
reached back and raked his long fingernails across Tao's eyes, forcing the hold to be
broken. Malice was slow back to his feet but, with Tao temporarily blinded, he was able
to get up and catch his opponent with a tiger suplex. Malice then took over again,
straddling Tao's legs around the ring post as he slid out to the floor. Tao grabbed his
groin in pain but Malice kept his attack going, slamming Tao's legs against the steel and
shouting obscenities at Hassan as he got back in the ring. Tao was hobbled as Malice
pulled him up and hoisted him in a vertical suplex. Malice held Tao in mid air for several
seconds, but this gave The Saint a chance to reach in and grab Malice's leg, pulling him to
the canvas and dropping Tao across him in a pinning position. Saint held Malice's leg as
the ref counted 1...2...Malice kicked out at the last second before three. Malice shot back
to his feet and took a swing at The Saint, but when he turned around Tao came at him
with a spinning heel kick. Tao's opponent, however, saw him coming in time and caught
Tao in mid air, turning the move into a crushing spinebuster! Tao hit the canvas hard and
Malice quickly applied the Painful Pleasure. He dug his nails deep into Tao's flesh and
pulled back hard, eventually forcing Tao to tap out, giving Malice the victory. Going over
to his corner, Malice grabbed his camera and took a picture of his fallen opponent, but his
celebration was short lived. Just as the flash went off, Hassan's slaves rushed the ring and
attacked, knocking Malice to the canvas. They then stood the man up as Hassan entered
the ring, holding him in a vertical position so that Hassan could smash Malice over the
head with his golden scepter. Malice was left laying next to Tao as Hassan made his way
back to the dressing room.
Wood: Another big win for Malice here tonight as he continues to
build up victories after getting off to a slow start in his MMP career. Wins over Super
Cupid last week and now Tao Te Ching here tonight should start moving Malice up the
rankings quite quickly, and could have him in the title hunt here by year's end.
Brewer: The match between Malice and Hassan Abu Saada at Moonlight is quickly
becoming one of the most talked about attractions of that event, and it's looking like that
is going to be a very important match in terms of both men's careers here in the MMP.
Along with Andrew Peters, who already has a title shot lined up in a couple of weeks,
these are the two hottest newcomers to join the MMP in the past couple of months. I'd
venture to say that the winner could find himself matched up against higher calibre
competition quite quickly.
Masked Menace X is still backstage, still looking for the referee who he
blames for not being awarded the win over Wolverine last week on Hardcore Saturday
Night. He bursts into the referee's room and grabs the man who counted his shoulders
down a week ago. MMX slams the official into a locker three times before dropping the
bloodied official to the floor. He then turns over to the other refs:
MMX: Let this be a lesson to all of you zebras. NEVER stick your nose in my
business.
He then left the room as the other refs checked on their injured colleague.
Wood: Somebody get Masked Menace X under control, damn it!
He's got no right assaulting referees like that! I agree that the second referee should have
stayed in the dressing room last week, but this is not the way to resolve disagreements
with the officiating staff. Now who's to blame the officials for harboring a grudge against
him? MMX is up next against The Daark Disciple for a spot in the Hall of Fame
Tournament, but I don't know how the official is going to react to MMX in light of what
just happened. Let's just go to the ring.
Hall of Fame Tournament Qualifying Match
MASKED
MENACE X vs. THE DAARK DISCIPLE
MMX came to the ring first with his new sidekick, the homeless man
that he had recruited earlier in the week. The man was still on crutches as a result of his
first encounter with MMX, but that didn't stop MMX from berating him for being so slow
in coming down the aisle. MMX warned the referee not to screw anything up as he got in
the ring, but the official simply explained that he had a job to do and was going to call
things right down the middle. The music then changed as the mysterious Daark Disciple
made his way out, revealing for the first time his identity as Scott Worth. Worth hadn't
been seen in nearly a month and looked quite different than he did before the ordeal with
the accident that killed O'Conner's wife. Worth, or Disciple, looked to be in rough shape
and MMX took full advantage, connecting with a baseball slide that hit Disciple square in
the face as he was getting into the ring. H then delivered a DDT on the floor, not paying
any attention to the fact that The Regulator was now standing at the top of the runway.
MMX threw Disciple into the ring and delivered a series of chops to the chest before
sending him off the ropes and connecting with a powerslam. After hitting a neckbreaker
MMX stradled his opponent and reigned blows down upon him, letting up only after the
referee threatened him with a disqualification. MMX then shouted something out to the
bum on the floor, causing the injured man to struggle his way over to the steps and up
onto the ring apron. The ref quickly cut him off, but behind the official's back MMX
grabbed one of the man's crutches, breaking it over Disciple's back. He then tossed the
crutch away and shoved the bum to the floor before hooking Disciple in the X-Plex. The
ref turned back and made the three count, putting MMX into the tournament. As the final
bell sounded, a large crate was brought down to ringside on a gurney. The crate had a
large label on the front - "Mini Menace is inside". The bum tried to investigate but MMX
simply pushed him aside before tearing the front off the box. Inside the box was not Mini
Menace, but instead Wolverine!! Wolverine nailed MMX over the head with a crowbar,
leaving MMX knocked out on the floor before heading back to the dressing room to a
loud ovation.
Wood: So Masked Menace X has advanced into the Hall of Fame
tournament, setting up a meeting with the winner of the Steve Simon/Andrew Peters
match that is scheduled to take place later tonight. And it looks as if his feud with
Wolverine is far from over, with Wolverine getting the last laugh on his on-again, off-
again rival with a little help from a crowbar.
The camera is being dragged violently down the corridor, stopping at
the dressing room of Captain Patrick O'Conner. Although the Captain is not on the card
tonight he is in the arena, as is required of all wrestlers. A big boot violently kicks down
the door and Soul Crusher barges in, spraying the MMP world champion in the face with a
fire extinguisher! After draining the extinguisher of it's entire contents, Crusher pulls out
his trusty brass knuckles and delivers some solid shots to the forehead of the champion,
leaving him bloody on the floor. As always Soul Crusher dropped his card beside his
victim, but this time it was a little different, reading "Soul Crusher: Hitman for The
Family".
Wood: So I guess that means it was The Family behind those hits on
George Achica over the past couple of weeks! We had been wondering who had been
paying Crusher's fee to assault the big Samoan, but it seems that now we know who had
been employing the big German. We know that The Family has been lobbying to get
Psychotic Sam a shot at O'Conner's world title. Perhaps this will be the straw that breaks
the camel's back and causes O'Conner to give in to their demands. It could also explain
why Mr. Beumont was so eager to get a shot at Crusher's TV title here tonight. This must
be part of Soul Crusher's payment. Either way, the TV title is on the line next so, for what
it's worth, let's go to the ring.
MMP Television Championship Match
SOUL CRUSHER
(C) vs. MR. BEUMONT
Mr. Beumont came to the ring first, dressed in old pants with snakes
on the side and wearing a Heroes of Wrestling t-shirt. He was dragging a green bag
behind him that had a garden hose sticking out the end. William and Richard were behind
him, stuck together in one giant sumo outfit. "Cup" Cooper and China Town Lee held the
ropes open for Beumont, who stumbled into the ring before pulling the hose out of the bag
and holding it high for all to see. Soul Crusher didn't wait for the CWO performance to
end and quickly rushed the ring. Grabbing Beumont, Crusher delivered a vicious
kneesmash to the face that looked to have broken Beumont's nose, splattering blood on
the canvas. Beumont collapsed in pain grabbing his face and Crusher made the cover for
the three count.
Wood: A less than gruelling title defense here tonight for Soul
Crusher, who retains the TV title for the third week in a row.
Brewer: Granted, tonight's match wasn't the most impressive thing I've ever seen, but Soul
Crusher has been putting together a nice string of wins since his return to the MMP a
couple of months ago. He's going to have his hands full at the PPV, however, when
Wolverine gets his return match for the TV title. That will be Soul Crusher's biggest test,
but with the backing of The Family, you never know what kind of BS he could pull
out.
Wood: Speaking of Wolverine, he's up next in the latest of what has been quite a series of
matches over the course of the year. Many fans will remember earlier in 1999 when
Wolverine and The Joker's Child had a heated rivalry over the midwestern title. Tonight
the stakes are higher, with the winner getting a chance to go for a crack at the world
championship. Joker is 3-0 this year against Wolverine. Can he keep that streak
intact?
Hall of Fame Tournament Qualifying Match
THE JOKER'S
CHILD vs. WOLVERINE
Joker came to the ring first, carrying his tag team championship belt
over his shoulder and smoking a cigar. The same mysterious woman in the black wedding
dress and veil was by his side. As he was walking towards the ring, Wolverine came
charging out from the back and took Joker down with a running kneelift to the kidneys.
He then rammed Joker into the steel barricade before tossing his opponent into the ring.
Joker stumbled to his feet as Wolverine followed him in and, once Wolverine turned to
face him, Joker nailed him in the face with his tag title belt. The referee rang the bell and
immediately called for a disqualification, but Joker didn't seem to care. He assaulted
Wolverine with the belt while the rest of The Family made their way down from the
dressing room. Tao Te Ching, Ponch, and the CWO held Wolverine down as Joker
grabbed a mic:
Joker: Wolverine You got your wish the second round and a shot at the real World
Champion.
Psychotic Sam then stepped forward. Removing his trenchcoat, he showed that he was
wearing the stolen MMP/GWF grand championship belt.
Joker: you know it is real amazing how easy it is to con some one to make these then
robb them blind. Now Here is your chance to prove to the world you can beat the real
World Champion.
The Family pulled Wolverine up, allowing Sam to hit him in the back of the knee with AJ
the Bat. Sam walked around the ring screaming at the ceiling while Wolverine tried to get
back up. When he did Sam nailed him with the Psychotic Smash before applying the
Psycho's Punishment. Joker then handed the mic to The Saint.
Saint: Poor soul You got what you wanted. And the Real Champ showed you the
ropes. Now Oconner I know your watching in the back and we are getting sick and tired
of waiting for what belongs to us.
Sam still has Wolverine in the Punishment. Referees have come out to try and break it up,
but the rest of The Family his holding them off.
Saint: Oconner. This man is the real World Champion. and we are going to come out
here every week and Punish people until we get our shot You can not hide for ever. I and
God know that You have to face your fear some day.
The giant video screen then played a clip of the one previous meeting between O'Conner
and Sam, a match that Sam won after catching O'Conner in a bear trap. Pointing up to the
screen, The Family slowly made their way back to the dressing room.
Wood: It looks like we have a challenge on the table for Patrick
O'Conner. Sam and The Family have been after a title shot for quite some time now, but
with the attack on the champ by Soul Crusher earlier tonight and now this assault on
Wolverine, it looks like they are serious about their demands.
Brewer: Oh, I never doubted that they were serious. I only doubt that they can actually
get the job done. O'Conner has held that title for nearly five months now, and it's starting
to look like there's no one in the MMP right now that can beat him for that belt. If The
Family thinks that Sam's the man to do it, hey, he's won a lot of matches so why not give
him a shot. They'd better realize, though, that there's a big difference between beating the
world champion in a one-on-one match and perpetrating a gang attack on some midcarder
from the welfare capital of the world, Detroit, Michigan.
Wood: Well, Ray, your comments aside, Wolverine has earned, although not in the
manner I'm sure he would have liked, a spot in the Hall of Fame tournament. He'll now go
on to face Malice in the opening round. We've got another title match set to go here
tonight on SNS, and this time it should be a little more competitive than was the TV title
match we saw earlier tonight between Soul Crusher and Mr. Beumont. The universal title
is on the line when Daark squares off with Dr. No Limit!
MMP Universal Championship Match
DAARK (C) vs. DR.
NO LIMIT
Zane and Charles led the way to the ring for DNL, who came to the
ring with a look of confidence on his face despite the fact that he had lost the midwestern
title only two weeks ago. Tonight he had his eyes on a much bigger prize. Daark was
accompanied by his usual compliment of Cult minions, but that didn't seem to phase DNL
who set up his customary table at ringside before sliding into the ring. The two men
circled as the opening bell sounded, but that was when Zane jumped up on the ring apron
and yelled "Hey, Scrag!" at Daark, harping back to Daark's days competing under the
name Clay Moore. Daark was distracted only momentarily, but it was enough for DNL to
get the early upper hand with an uppercut below the belt. Daark was doubled over and
DNL went right to work. The challenger stomped his smaller opponent down to the
canvas only to pick him right back up and whip him to the turnbuckle where DNL nailed
his man with a big avalanche. Daark stumbled limply out and was caught with a tilt a
whirl backbreaker. Then, with his opponent's back injured, DNL started to slow things
down a bit, hooking Daark in a Texas cloverleaf. DNL's size and weight advantage made
it possible for him to apply additional pressure on Daark's already injured back, leaning
back on the legs with all the force he could muster. Daark, however, was not about to
give it up this early and slowly started to crawl towards the ropes. DNL let up on the
hold, but only to drag Daark back out to the center of the ring where he again sat down
with all his energy concentrating on the back of the universal champion. Again the
champion started towards the ropes, but this time he made it, grabbing the bottom strand
as soon as he was within range and forcing DNL to break the hold. DNL was reluctant to
release it at first, holding it until the referee stepped in and warned that DNL would be
disqualified if he didn't let up. The challenger was somewhat angered by the referee's
warning and got right in the ref's face, arguing back and forth with the man in the stripes.
While this was going on, Daark was getting back to his feet. He waited for DNL to turn
back around before tearing into him with a series of knife edge chops and stiff kicks to the
shins. Apparently getting a second wind, Daark nailed DNL in the chest with a dropkick,
but the blow only connected with half-power and the big man didn't go down. Daark then
bounced off the ropes and caught DNL with a flying forearm, this time bringing his
opponent down to the canvas. He then slammed DNL's legs repeatedly off the mat before
dragging the man over to the corner. Daark jumped out to the floor and grabbed DNL's
legs, pulling them hard forward and splitting DNL on the steel ring post. Daark looked
over at his minions, basking in their admiration, before continuing his offense. This
proved to be a mistake, however, as as soon as he went to deliver another blow on his
opponent DNL shot his legs foward and sent Daark crashing into the safety rail. Moving
somewhat gingerly at this point DNL followed Daark out to the floor. Grabbing his
opponent, DNL dragged the champ over to where he had set up the table earlier in the
evening and delivered a powerbomb that sent Daark crashing through the table and onto
the concrete floor! The crowd cheered as Daark fell in amongst a pile of debris, but the
referee was less than pleased. He ordered DNL to get back in the ring, bringing about
another confrontation between the two. This, however, worked right into DNL's
gameplan. With the ref's back turned Zane and Charles jumped into action, pulling Daark
back to his feet. The two set Daark up for a tandem powerbomb on the floor, but within
seconds they were surrounded by many angry Cult minions. The minions fought with all
they had, and created enough of a diversion so as to allow Daark the chance to get back in
the ring unharmed, but it didn't look like he had much left. DNL pulled the badly beaten
challenger off the mat and tossed him into the ropes, catching him on the way back with a
spinebuster...but Daark landed on his feet! DNL was stunned by Daark's counter to his
move, and the universal champion acted quickly. After delivering a boot to DNL's
midsection, Daark used the ropes for leveredge and delivered a modified Whispered
Prophecy tornado DDT! He rolled DNL over and made the cover as the ref counted
1...2...3!! The bell sounded and Daark had retained the universal title. His celebration,
however, was short lived. As soon as the match was over, Charles pulled a chair away
from the ring announcer and tossed it in to DNL. DNL floored Daark from behind as he
was being presented with his belt and proceeded to jam the chair repeatedly into the back
of the man who had just defeated him. DNL's attack was merciless, repeatedly assaulting
Daark with the chair until a group of officials joined the Cult minions in breaking it
up.
Wood: Daark retains the universal title here tonight, but at what cost?
With Moonlight a little less than two weeks away Daark may well have sustained a serious
injury in this match, thus putting his showdown with "Stunning" Steve Simon in
jeopardy.
Brewer: Daark was lucky to pull that one out at the last minute with the Whispered
Prophecy, but after this attack by DNL I don't see how he can be 100% going into the
PPV. Steve Simon is a guy that's tough to beat even when you are on top of your game.
This could very well change the face of the PPV well before we get to Washington in a
couple weeks time.
Wood: Speaking of Simon, the "Stunning One" has a tough challenge in front of him here
tonight, taking on one of the top newcomers in the MMP today for a spot in the Hall of
Fame tournament. SSS does battle with "Amazing" Andrew Peters here on
SNS.
Hall of Fame Tournament Qualifying Match
"STUNNING"
STEVE SIMON vs. "AMAZING" ANDREW PETERS
Peters came to the ring first with Amanda, drawing a very negative
reaction from the crowd. It didn't appear that the MMP fans were too fond of the brash
newcomer, but that didn't seem to bother Peters, who simply exchanged snide remarks
about those in attendance with his valet. Steve Simon, on the other hand, received a very
warm welcome from the audience as he came down with not only Kristin by his side, but
also his parents. SSS slapped the hands of the fans seated along the runway while his
adversary for the evening looked on in disgust. Peters then shouted a disparaging remark
towards Simon, to which SSS responded by quickly sliding into the ring and nailing Peters
with a spear! Peters hit the canvas hard and immediately rolled out to the floor to regroup
before Simon could get his offense going. With the action in the ring already underway,
The Regulator appeared in the aisle, standing back and watching the action as he had done
in previous qualifying matches. Simon spotted Reg, however, and was quick to point his
presence out to the referee and requested that Reg be removed from the area. After all the
criticism Reg had dished out to the officials over the summer the ref was only too quick to
oblige, immediately getting down to the floor and ordering him away. This did, however,
distract Simon, allowing Peters to get back into the ring and attack SSS from the rear. He
nailed Simon with a kick to the midsection and applied a side headlock, whipping Simon
to the far turnbuckle where he delivered a series of chops to the chest. Peters then
snapmared Simon out and dropped a knee across the forehead. With SSS weakened and
down on the canvas, Peters verbally taunted his opponent before slapping on a standing
figure four. The referee, just returning from sending Regulator back to the dressing room,
got down in Simon's face and asked if he wanted to give up. Before Simon could respond
he reached up and grabbed Peters, rolling him into a small package for the 1...2...Peters
kicked out just barely before the official's hand could hit for the third time. Simon got up
to one knee and Peters charged at him, but this time SSS was able to avoid his opponent's
attack, using a drop toehold to bring Peters down before rolling it into an STF. This time
it was Peters who was caught in a submission hold, and the newcomer was obviously quite
frustrated by his predicament. He tried to reach out towards the ropes, but they were too
far away. Luckily for Peters Simon broke the hold, but only let up momentarily before
going to another weardown move, this time locking Peters in a headscissor choke.
Simon's parents applauded loudly on the outside as their son looked to be in control of the
match. After a few moments of struggling, Peters was finally able to manuever his way
over and wrap his leg around the bottom rope to force Simon to break the hold. Simon
acknowledged the official's instructions and released, backing off to give his opponent a
clean break. He moved in for a lockup but Peters caught him with a backhanded shot to
the jaw that nearly floored him. A belly to belly suplex followed by an elbowdrop clearly
shifted the match into Peters' favor just as Amanda jumped up on the ring apron. She
called the referee over but Kristin was quick to react, dragging her fellow valet down and
tossing her aside, warning her not to get anywhere near the ring again. The action on the
outside grabbed Peters' attention, allowing Simon to recover and approach from behind,
slapping on the Hollywood Stretch. Amazingly though, Peters managed to reverse the
hold before it was fully applied and get Simon in the Antagonizer...or so he thought.
Simon then displayed the technical mastery of which he is so boastful, reversing Peters'
trademark finisher back into the Stretch! This time, Simon got hold locked on, and this
time there was no escape. Peters eventually had to give it up, and Simon advanced into
the tournament. SSS quickly climbed down to the floor, first checking on Kristin and then
accepting congratulations from his parents as the quartet made their way back to the
dressing room. Just then, a strange red strobe light filled the arena. Amanda was helping
Peters back to his feet when out of nowhere came Hot Crimson! He spun Peters around
and delivered a crushing blow with a steel pipe that busted Peters wide open. Crimson
licked some of the blood off the pipe before exiting through the crowd.
Wood: Steve Simon has claimed the final spot in the Hall of Fame
tournament, earning a very impressive victory over Andrew Peters here tonight on
Saturday Night Slams.
Brewer: Peters really gave Simon a run for his money tonight. I don't think anyone was
expecting the rookie to put up such a solid performance, but he did just that. He could
have had the match won at several points, but Simon managed to hold on and win with a
big move late, barely escaping the grasp of Peters' Antagonizer.
Wood: Well folks, the time is here. Will tonight, October 16 1999 be the final time that
the MMP ever sees The Congregation? That question will be answered in a matter of
moments when Hot Crimson puts the midwestern title on the line against Super Cupid in a
title vs. career match. The Congregation has a long history in the MMP, but it could all
come to an end here this evening at the MMP Coliseum. What does Cupid have up his
sleave for this all-important match? Let's send you back to the ring to find out.
MMP Midwestern Championship
Title vs. Career
Match
HOT CRIMSON (C) vs. SUPER CUPID
Super Cupid came to the ring first, alone, and possibly for the last
time. Hot Crimson was accompanied by several Cult minions, but his introduction was
interrupted by a green mist shooting out of the ring posts as Masochrist made his way out.
The former two-time world champion walked over and took a seat at the announce table
but said nothing, simply glaring silently at Wood and Brewer before turning and facing the
ring. Knowing that everything was on the line tonight Crimson charged Cupid right at the
opening bell, but the Quincy native was ready for such an attack and caught Crimson
coming in with a dropkick to the knee. The champion went down, grabbing his leg in
pain. Cupid, however, was all over him, not letting Crimson have even a second to
recover. He immediately slid out under the bottom rope and pulled Crimson's legs around
the steel right post, slamming the right leg twice against the steel before applying a figure
four leglock around the post. The Cult minions swarmed around Cupid, drawing the
official out to the floor. After backing the minions away by threatening to disqualify
Crimson, the ref pulled Cupid off the figure four, threatening to disqualify him if he didn't
get back into the ring. Realizing that this would cost him his career, Cupid reluctantly
complied. He quickly slid back out, though, this time pulling Crimson to the floor with
him. Cupid whipped Crimson into the steel safety rail, but before he could do any more
damage the champion caught him with a deliberate kick below the belt, taking the wind
right out of Cupid's sails. The champ then grabbed Cupid, hoisting him up in the air in a
gorilla press and dropping him throat first across the safety rail. Cupid's head shot back,
hitting the back of his head on the concrete floor. With things turning in Crimson's favor,
The Ryno made his way down to the ring, wearing a Congregation t-shirt. This didn't stop
Crimson, who slammed Cupid into the safety rail one more time before rolling him back
into the ring. He pulled Cupid up and suplexed him over, and then applied a sleeperhold.
Cupid looked to be fading quickly, but out of desperation he dropped down, cracking
Crimson's jaw on the top of his head. Crimson snapped back and Cupid slowly got back
to his feet, catching Crimson with a kick to the midsection and a DDT before going to the
top rope. With Crimson lying prone in the middle of the ring, Cupid came diving off the
top and nailed the Cupid's Arrow! The referee, however, simply looked down on the
cover and refused to count before walking out of the ring. Cupid pulled Crimson up and
dumped him to the outside, shouting at the referee to get back and do his job. The official
stopped in the runway and turned slowly back towards the ring, just as Masochrist got up
from the announce table. Cupid turned over to face Maso as Maso pulled Crimson up and
delivered a chokeslam on the floor!! The referee pointed at Cupid and started to motion
for the bell, but out of nowhere The Joker's Child came running down to the ring. He slid
in under the bottom rope and nailed Cupid across the back with a chair, right in front of
the referee. The match was ruled a double disqualification. The thousands of displeased
fans littered the ring with garbage as the screen fades to black.
