Championship Six-Pack
September 18, 1999
Saturday Night Slams: Championship Six-Pack is on the air! The MMP Coliseum is sold out, with more than 15, 000 fans packed into the arena and several hundred still lined up outside, hoping desperately that the occasional standing room ticket just might become available. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams, the Championship Six-Pack! I’m Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight we will see the biggest Slams card in the history of the MMP. For the first time ever, all SIX MMP titles will be defended on one card, and our main event is a match that fans have been waiting to see for nearly six months, ever since The Syndicate was formed back in April. Captain Patrick O’Conner, the longest running world champion we have ever had, puts the title on the line against arguably his most hated rival, Syndicate kingpin Gene Barlotta, The Bootlegger. Tensions between the two have been high ever since both joined the MMP almost a year ago, but with the title on the line and Barlotta’s kidnapping of the Captain’s wife at the conclusion of last week’s show, I think it’s fair to say that we have never seen a match of such magnitude in the MMP, and chances are good that we won’t see one again.
Brewer: The whole world is waiting for that colossal main event later on tonight, but it overshadows possibly the most star-studded lineup we could have put together for an event of such significance. For the first time since capturing the title, Daark will put the universal title on the line against a man who I believe is one of the most talented wrestlers I have ever come in contact with, Onyx Cooper. We also have a big tag title match when, for the first time since the in-fighting within The Syndicate began a couple of months ago, Virus Richards and John Korso will face off in the ring when Upstanding Citizens defend the belts against The Deadly Syns.
Wood: We also have matches for the extreme and TV titles coming up later on, but we kick things off tonight with two men who will be involved in the upcoming genocidal warfare match at Vindication doing battle for the midwestern title. Dr. No Limit’s second run with the belt is proving to be a more successful one than the first, but tonight he faces a tough test as he steps into the ring against Harbinger, a very underrated member of The Cult.
MMP Midwestern Championship Match
DR. NO LIMIT (C) vs. HARBINGER
Harbinger made his way down to the ring first, wearing a blood stained and torn Hot Crimson t-shirt, evidently furthering the recruitment efforts that The Cult had began earlier in the week. Knowing that DNL usually had a number of men watching his back, Harbinger brought some back up of his own – Daark, the reigning universal champion. DNL then came to the ring accompanied by Zane. Much to the surprise of the fans in attendance, DNL was wearing an old GX shirt, reflecting back to his days as an ally of Diamond King, Virus Richards, and Jamaal. Most in attendance, including the announcers, didn’t know exactly what to make of this, but it didn’t seem to effect Harbinger’s gameplan. The rabid challenger charged at DNL, but the champion was ready for him and caught his charge with a crushing spinebuster. Harbinger was in trouble early. DNL stayed focused, quickly capitalizing on his early offense, following up with a vertical suplex. Harbinger didn’t stay down, rapidly rebounding back to his feet, but this time he was met with a solid superkick to the jaw that sent him through the ropes and out to the floor. Daark rushed over to Harbinger’s side to motivate the man to continue on, but he wasn’t given much time. Only seconds after Harbinger hit the concrete, DNL was out on the ring apron, waiting for his opponent to get back to his feet. Harbinger got up with the aid of Daark and DNL came off the apron with a flying axhandle. Harbinger wasn’t as injured as he had let on, however, and once DNL was in mid-air, Harbinger stepped back before charging and catching DNL with a spear! The champion was rocked to the arena floor with incredible force, and the momentum was starting to swing. With DNL down, Harbinger grabbed the steel ring steps before walking over to DNL’s prone form and slamming the steps down hard onto the big man’s unprotected knee. Not one, not two, but three shots to the knee were in order before Harbinger tossed the steps aside and rolled DNL back into the ring, with Daark looking on and nodding approvingly all the while. While DNL struggled to get back to his feet, Harbinger made his way to the top rope. DNL was wobbly as he regained his vertical base, and never saw Harbinger coming with a missile dropkick to the back of the head, dropping DNL face first to the canvas. With Daark offering encouragement from the arena floor, Harbinger got an extra rush of satisfaction, seeing that his time to capture his first singles championship was at hand. DNL didn’t stay down and, with the aid of the ropes, pulled himself up once again, prompting Harbinger to bounce off the ropes with another attack, this time a flying leg lariat. Incredibly, DNL caught the beast man in mid-air and turned the move into a powerbomb! Without giving Harbinger even a second to react, DNL grabbed his legs and applied the Lethal Injection…Diamond King’s old finishing move! Harbinger fought with all he had, but he was most of the way across the ring from reaching the ropes, and was eventually forced to surrender. The first title defense of the evening was a successful one, with DNL retaining the midwestern title.
Wood: Make that another successful defense of the midwestern title for Dr. No Limit, who has racked up victories against several top stars in recent weeks defending that belt. Masked Man X, Wolverine, and now Harbinger have all fallen to the man from New Orleans, who is on one of the biggest hot streaks of his long MMP career.
Brewer: I’m wondering what the hell he was thinking by bringing that GX shirt out here tonight. And what was with using the Lethal Injection to finish things against Harbinger? I haven’t seen that shirt or that move in the MMP for the better part of a year. Perhaps he’s just trying to get back in the good graces of DK, who will be returning to the MMP for one night only to officiate the second tier of the genocidal warfare match at the upcoming PPV event.
Wood: That’s not like DNL, though. Members of The Untouchables have always been held in high regard for the integrity they bring to the squared circle. Could DNL be on the outs with O’Conner’s crew, or is this just the start in a change of attitude for Dr. No Limit? I guess only time will tell. Up next we have a triple threat match for the TV title, a match that I know my broadcast colleague has been looking forward to for quite some time. The Joker’s Child puts the TV title on the line, somewhat I guess, against two members of the CWO.
MMP Television Championship
Triple Threat Match
THE JOKER’S CHILD (C) vs. MR. BEUMONT vs. BRICK STEVENS
Brick made his way down first, dressed in a black and green outfit with a large green clover on the front. He was followed by Beumont, who was wearing a lavish regal robe, stumbling awkwardly down the aisle. With his two opponents in the ring, Joker then made his way out with the TV title over his shoulder. He was accompanied by Ponch and a mysterious woman in a black wedding dress with a veil over her face. Joker stepped through the ring and pulled out three microphones – one for each man in the match.
Joker- Ok you two fools were going to do a micraphone match. ok.
Brick- AHHHHHHHHHHH
Beumont- dahhhhhhhhhhhh
Joker- Good now let the God of proffesional Wrestling kick your ass and we can all go to the back and drink beers.
Beumont- YEAH.
Joker then walked over to Brick, putting one foot behind Brick’s left leg. A stiff shove put Brick off balance, and as he backed over Joker’s foot, the 400-pounder fell hard to the canvas. Beumont started laughing, but stopped when Joker slapped him across the face, knocking him to the canvas as well. Joker then walked over and stood in the corner, waiting for his challengers to get up.
Joker- Sad fools it is like I am wrestling the Better version of the deadly Sins allready.
While Joker was resting, a fan in the front row started shouting obscenities at him. Joker turned and started hurling insults back while Brick and Beumont slowly started getting up.
Joker- Hey fatso. Do not make me drag your ass in to the ring to. You do not want any of the ICON. The King of Philly Ok slob.
While Joker was talking, Beumont reached into his presumably stolen robe and pulled out a muffin.
Beumont- HMMMMMMMMMMM Muffin.
Brick- HMMMMMMMMM muffin.
Beumont- MY Muffin f--- off.
Brick- Give me the Muffin.
Beumont- No it is mine fat ass.
Joker (to the fan, who has been put back in his seat by security)- Ok you slob, Just as I thought I am to much man for you or any other slob in the crowd.
In the meantime, Brick had shoved Beumont to the canvas and bent over to pick up the muffin. It was too much for Brick to do all at once, however, and he simply flopped on top of Beumont. The referee was in position and counted the three.
Brick- I WON, I WON THE Muffin. It is mine.
Joker- F--- OFF. YOu fat fool what the hell just happend.
The referee handed Brick the TV title, which was soon covered in muffin crumbs. Joker kicked the ropes in disgust before walking out with Ponch. A paramedic had to be brought out to help Beumont.
Wood: I’m not exactly sure, but it looks to me like Brick Stevens just won the MMP television title? Am I seeing this properly, Ray?
Brewer: What’s the matter, Wood, are you as blind as that moronic referee? How in the world could he count a pin like that? That fat bastard was just trying to get the muffin. This has to be the biggest disgrace the MMP has ever seen. I mean, somebody just won the TV title because he couldn’t bend over and pick up a muffin. What the hell is that about? And who sent that paramedic out to attend to Beumont?! I’m not signing the check for that one. There are always plenty of kids hanging around out back wanting to help out at these shows. Why not just give one of them a wheelbarrow and send them out to get that pathetic alcoholic. Even that ‘s better treatment than he deserves.
Wood: Surprising as it might be, we have seen the first of what could be many title changes here at SNS tonight. Some experts are predicting that we may very well see another one in our next matchup. The Destroyer surprised a lot of people by capturing the extreme title from Psychotic Sam last weekend, and was immediately thrust into this match against The Ryno. Is one week enough to recover from a match like Destroyer had only seven days ago? Remember that Ryno has not competed in a couple of weeks, and is much more refreshed than his opponent. It’s no disqualification for the extreme title, let’s go to the ring!
MMP Extreme Championship Match
THE DESTROYER (C) vs. THE RYNO
The challenger came to the ring first to a loud ovation, pushing a large dumpster down to ringside. Flipping the lid open, Ryno revealed a great collection of weapons inside, grabbing some and tossing them into the ring before his opponent was introduced. When Destroyer came out, he was not alone. Harbinger was at his side, still wearing the Hot Crimson shirt he had on during his match earlier in the evening. He stepped over the top rope and wasted no time in going right after Ryno, but the challenger’s quickness advantage showed in the early going as he slid through Destroyer’s legs and shot his right foot up, catching the champion in the groin with his first offense of the match. Destroyer was doubled over, but Ryno stayed on him, bouncing off the ropes and driving him head first into the canvas with a rocker dropper. With the big man down, Ryno grabbed one of the weapons out of his dumpster – a cookie sheet. Rolling Destroyer over, Ryno set the sheet on the champion’s face and climbed to the top rope. After getting himself set, Ryno dove off the top with a flying headbutt. Just as Ryno was coming down, Destroyer shot his left hand up and shot a fireball out of a small apparatus on his palm, a fireball that struck Ryno right in the face as he came down. Ryno was rolling in pain, grabbing his face, as Destroyer tossed the sheet aside and got back to his feet. Rolling Ryno over onto his stomach, Destroyer drove a series of hard kneedrops into Ryno’s shoulder before grabbing his legs and pulling him back into a Boston crab. The full force of Destroyer’s near 500-pound frame was pulling back on Ryno’s legs and back, and things were not looking good for the former world champion. After holding the crab for nearly a minute, Destroyer released it on his own accord, only to pull Ryno back to his feet and hoist him up in a huge bearhug. With a victory for the champion seemingly on the horizon, several Cult members started making their way down, surrounding the ringside area as Destroyer squeezed even harder. The referee checked to see if Ryno wanted to give it up, but when he did, Ryno lunged forward and dug his teeth into Destroyer’s face to force the break. Destroyer grabbed his face and staggered to the corner. Ryno fell back into another corner, trying to regain his senses before his opponent could recover. A Cult member jumped up on the apron, but Ryno grabbed something out of his hand before delivering a forearm smash to the head that sent the man flying down into the safety rail. When Destroyer turned around, Ryno sprayed Destroyer in the face with a can of mace that he had grabbed away from the Cult follower. With Destroyer blinded, Ryno quickly ducked out under the ropes and grabbed a table from under the ring. He put the table in the ring, set it up, and pushed it under Destroyer’s legs, setting the extreme champion across the wooden plane. He then quickly went to the top rope and, before Destroyer could clear his vision, nailed the big man with a senton splash! Ryno made the cover and hooked the leg for the 1…2…Destroyer kicked out! Ryno couldn’t believe it. After slamming his hands on the canvas in disgust, Ryno grabbed Destroyer and tossed him through the ropes, sending him head first into the dumpster on the outside. The match was totally in Ryno’s control as it moved out to the floor. Reaching into the dumpster, Ryno pulled out a fire extinguisher, spraying Destroyer in the face before cracking him across the back with the metal canister. The crowd jumped to it’s feet cheering as Ryno continued the assault. Tossing Destroyer back into the ring, Ryno grabbed a mirror out of the dumpster and set it on the canvas before following his adversary in. As Ryno got up on the apron, Daark came running out from the dressing room and nailed him across the back with a steel chair! Ryno collapsed to the floor and Daark nailed him with a snap DDT before rolling him back into the ring. Destroyer was getting back to his feet by this point, and when Daark rolled Ryno in to his feet, the big man capitalized. He pulled Ryno up and chokeslammed him onto the large mirror that Ryno had thrown in and covered him for the 1…2…3. The swarms of Cult members around ringside surrounded Destroyer as he made his way to the back victorious.
Wood: A big win for The Destroyer, who has now defeated Psychotic Sam and The Ryno in hardcore matches in back to back weeks. The list of men who have defeated both Sam and Ryno is a very short one, and to have done it in back to back weeks is quite an accomplishment indeed.
Brewer: The past few months have been very inconsistent for The Destroyer, for the entire Cult for that matter. I remember back at The Parade of Champions when Destroyer was virtually unstoppable for most of that event, but in a few subsequent outings, his game seemed to be off. He’s on quite a run now, and will be tough to beat when the genocidal warfare matches comes along in a couple of weeks.
Wood: As you well know, the first tier of the pay per view main event consists of four tag team matches where teams were chosen through a random drawing. Tonight, however, the teams that will vie for the tag team championship had nothing to do with luck. Virus Richards and The Joker’s Child, who has already lost the TV title tonight, put the belts against the top new team in the MMP – The Deadly Syns, John Korso and George Achica.
MMP Tag Team Championship Match
UPSTANDING CITIZENS (C) vs. THE DEADLY SYNS
The challengers made their entrance first, with George Achica leading the way for his boss, “Corrupt” John Korso. George stepped through the ropes first, holding them for Korso, and then discussing some last minute strategy as the champs made their entrance. Virus came down first with Michael trailing, followed closely by Joker, Ponch, and the mysterious woman in the black dress that was out earlier during the TV title match. Korso stepped out to the apron, instructing George to start. Seeing who the opponent would be, Virus insisted that he start for the champions. Before locking up, Virus turned back to his corner and asked Joker in his best George Achica voice ”May I fetch you your slippers and pipe, sir?”. The champions shared a bit of a laugh, but George didn’t find it all that funny. He tore into Virus from behind, hammering him with a series of punches to the back of the head before spinning him around and flooring him with a thunderous headbutt. Virus slowly staggered to his feet, only to be knocked down again by a running lariat from Achica. George then pulled Virus up and carried him over to the Syns corner, bodyslamming him down before tagging in Korso. Korso slapped George on the back for a job well done, but the hesitation proved costly. As Korso was entering the ring, Virus shot his left foot up and kicked the middle rope, jamming the strand hard into Korso’s groin. The former world champion stumbled slowly into the ring, doubled over in pain. This allowed Virus to regroup, taking Korso over with a vertical suplex before making the tag to Joker. During the exchange, however, the lights in the arena went out. When they came back up, George was collapsed on the floor clutching his leg. Beside him was a small piece of paper – the calling card of Soul Crusher. Crusher was nowhere to be found, but his impact had been made. The referee, trying in vain to learn what had happened, leaned through the ropes to check on George, but while his back was turned, Virus and Joker took full advantage and pounded on Korso in the corner with a merciless double team. When the official turned back and saw what was going on he was quick to usher Virus out to the apron, but the match was in hand for the champions. Joker nailed Korso with a DDT and dropped the leg across his throat before slapping on a figure four leglock. The referee quickly slid over to ask Korso if he wanted to give it up, but the “Corrupt” one shouted at the top of his lungs that he did not, throwing in the occasional derogatory remark about the man in the striped shirt. With the ref looking the other way, Virus jumped down to the floor and reached in to grab Joker’s arms, pulling back on them to put additional pressure on the legs of Korso. George, now back on the apron, shouted at the ref from across the ring to let him know what was happening, and the official turned to see the illegal assist, forcing the break of the hold. Joker stomped Korso twice, but the ref quickly intervened, telling Joker and Virus that the illegal double team constituted a tag and Virus was now the legal man in the match. The champions flew into a rage, verbally tearing a strip off the official, questioning everything from his competence to his manhood. While they were distracted, however, Korso was pulling himself together. After using the ropes to pull himself back to his feet, Korso dove at Virus and took him out with a chop block before sending him through the ropes to the floor. Grabbing Virus by the hair, Korso hoisted his former ally up in the air and dropped him throat first across the steel safety rail followed by a DDT on the floor before tossing Virus back into the ring. Dragging his opponent towards his corner, Korso pulled Virus to his feet as he tagged George back in. With Virus almost out on his feet, George nailed the tag champ with a vicious spear tackle that nearly broke Virus in half. Joker ran in to try and pull George off, but Korso quickly intervened and the two men battled opposite George and Virus. The referee tried desperately to separate Joker and Korso, but it was a useless endeavor. Things were looking bleak for the champs, prompting some help to get involved. Unfortunately for Virus and Joker, that help came in the form of Virus’ assistant Michael. Michael charged right at George, but the giant Samoan grabbed the diminutive man and hoisted him up in a gorilla press slam, tossing him over the top rope and into the steel safety rail. George started shouting at Michael after he hit, but this left his attentions turned away from Virus, who was calling Ponch into the ring with a steel chair. While George was pre-occupied with Michael, Virus told Ponch to hold the chair up behind George’s head. Ponch did as he was instructed, and Virus nailed a stiff superkick into the chair, slamming the steel against the base of Achica’s skull. The big man went down and went down hard. Ponch slid out of the ring and Virus turned his attention towards Korso, nailing him with a lariat to the back of the head that sent Korso over the top to the floor. Virus followed him and the two battled all the way back to the dressing room while, in the ring, Joker nailed the unconscious George with a running legdrop before hooking the leg for the three count.
Wood: Virus and Joker have retained the tag titles here tonight, but I think it would be fair to say that The Deadly Syns gave the champs all they could handle and then some. It really looked like we were going to see another title change there until Ponch and, more importantly, the steel chair got involved.
Brewer: I think it looks real good on that buffoon John Korso. I still haven’t been able to figure out why the losingest member of The Syndicate is the one who comes out here week after week ranting about this and that, trying to tell everyone how great he is. I really hope he comes out here later on tonight. I’d love to hear him try and explain this one.
Wood: We now move from a Syndicate civil war of sorts to a Syndicate member who I know is one of your favorites, Ray, trying to re-capture a title that his longtime associate Gene Barlotta held for the better part of six months before recently losing it in a ladder match. Onyx Cooper will attempt to avenge his tag team partner’s defeat and take the universal championship from Daark.
MMP Universal Championship Match
DAARK (C) vs. ONYX COOPER
”O’Fortunate” rocked the arena’s sound system as a rainbow coloured stream of lights hit the ring. Cooper made his way out first, dressed as a leprechaun with a green wrestling tux and shorts for pants. He was also wearing a top hat with a four leaf clover dangling in front of his white battle mask. Before his opponent could be introduced, Onyx demanded the mic:
Cooper: Mr. Moore, welcome to my kingdom. A "square circle" they call it. I call it my second home. Here the light of sidhe will shine on you causing you to once again become the slobish Jersey mallrat you once were. Tonight, I will finish a rite of passage for you. One that will leave you in mortal pain. Now get your Quisimodo arse in here...
The lights in the arena then went out as Daark made his entrance, but when the lights came back up, Cooper was seated at the announce table with a headset on, the mic still in his hand.
Cooper: What you think? I'm some stupid putz like yourself. Get real, Mr. Moore, you parlor tricks ain't going to work on me.
Daark quickly jumped down to the floor to go after Cooper, but Onyx had a trick up his sleeve. As soon as Daark got within range, Cooper tossed a handful of powder directly into the universal champion’s face before nailing him across the back with his walking stick. The referee quickly jumped out to the floor to admonish Cooper, but Onyx paid him no regard and bodyslammed Daark on the announce table. Daark lay winded on the table as Cooper got up on the apron and climbed to the top rope. The challenger came flying off the top with a moonsault onto Daark, but the champion rolled out of the way and Cooper went crashing hard through the table to the concrete floor below. Television equipment was scattered. Wood and Brewer quickly dodged out of the way to avoid the impact. After shaking off the effects of Cooper’s opening assault, Daark pulled his opponent out of the pile of debris and tossed him into the ring. He pulled Cooper up and whipped him into the turnbuckle, delivering a series of chops to the chest and thrusts to the throat before flooring Cooper with a flying lariat. Standing by his opponent’s fallen frame, Daark executed a standing moonsault and covered Onyx, hooking the leg, but he only got two before Cooper shot his shoulder up off the canvas. Daark delivered an elbowdrop to the sternum to wear Cooper down further before climbing to the top turnbuckle. Once in position, Daark came off with a diving headbutt, but this time it was Onyx dodging his opponent’s flying assault, sending Daark crashing face first to the canvas. Quickly capitalizing on the momentum shift, Cooper delivered three quick elbowdrops to the back of Daark’s neck before pulling him up and delivering a devastating gutbuster. While Daark rolled around the canvas grabbing his midsection in pain, Onyx was sizing his opponent up. Daark slowly pulled himself back to his feet, but when he did Cooper came off the ropes and connected with a running dropkick to the midsection that doubled Daark over again. With his opponent dazed, Cooper quickly lifted Daark and nailed The Break! Daark collapsed and Cooper covered him, hooking the leg for the 1…2…Daark kicked out!!!! Cooper was stunned! He could not believe that someone had kicked out of one of his patented finishing moves. Frustrated, Cooper rolled out to the floor and approached the timekeeper., grabbing the ring bell off the table. The timekeeper grabbed onto it as well and tried to pull the bell away from Cooper. While the struggle ensued, Daark rolled out of the ring behind Onyx and delivered a dropkick to the back of the head that rocked Cooper’s skull against the steel of the bell. Both Cooper and the timekeeper fell back into the booth, but Daark was only interested in Onyx. After tossing his opponent back into the ring, Daark pulled him up and delivered a running powerslam before slapping on the Purgatory sharpshooter! The referee got down to ask Onyx if he wanted to quit, but received no answer. He checked Cooper’s hand, and when it fell limp, the official stopped the match and awarded the decision to Daark. The referee passed Daark his universal title belt as the champion headed back to the dressing room victorious. He stepped through the curtain towards the dressing room, but almost immediately he was nailed with a body splash from the gargantuan Lardzilla! Daark stumbled backwards, only to land full on the end of The Bootlegger’s fully charged taser gun! Bootlegger held the gun against Daark’s body for several seconds, pressing it deeper until Daark hit the ground. Bootlegger and Lardzilla then dragged towards the boiler room, but before they reached it, Captain Patrick O’Conner emerged from the shadows and assaulted Bootlegger. Lardzilla continued dragging Daark further while O’Conner and Bootlegger battled out through the entrance way.
MMP World Championship Match
CAPTAIN PATRICK O’CONNER (C) vs. THE BOOTLEGGER
The two men exchanged blows all the way down the aisle, slamming one another into the safety rail as they went. O’Conner rammed Bootlegger into the ring steps as they arrived at ringside, peppering him with roundhouse kicks against the apron. Bootlegger doubled over after absorbing several shots to the midsection, but O’Conner didn’t let up, delivering a rocker dropper that drove Bootlegger hard face first into the concrete floor. The champ tossed his opponent into the ring for the first time, and the bell sounded to get the match officially underway. He followed closely behind, but when he went to pull Bootlegger back up he was met with a quick thumb to the eye from the challenger, who then slid out to the floor to try and regroup. The fans cheered loudly in support of O’Conner, who stood triumphantly in the ring, but those cheers quickly turned to boos as “Corrupt” John Korso made his way down to ringside to join the broadcast team. Jerry Wood had to step in between Korso and Brewer, who nearly came to blows yet again. Bootlegger slowly climbed up to the ring apron and then slowly again through the ropes, but O’Conner showed an uncharacteristic ferocity and attacked his opponent even before he got fully in the ring. A couple of forearm shots to the back of the head softened Bootlegger up enough for O’Conner to whip him into the corner, where the world champion pounded him with a series of punches and kicks to the ribcage. Looking almost for a place to hide, Bootlegger leaned through the middle ropes, waiting for the referee to step in and back O’Conner off. After the official created a separation, Bootlegger slowly advanced towards the center of the ring, challenging the champ to a test of strength. O’Conner was breating deeply, his anger showing through, but he somehow managed to compose himself and re-focus on the task at hand. He reached up to oblige Bootlegger, but Barlotta immediately drove a knee into O’Conner’s midsection and delivered a DDT. Bootlegger looked like he had already been through a war and although his motivations in this match were slightly different than those of his opponent, the ultimate goal was the same. Looking to catch a breather, Bootlegger stood over O’Conner and applied a camel clutch. Bootlegger wrenched back on the champion’s head and neck with all his weight, but it was clear that, after what Bootlegger had done over the past week, O’Conner wasn’t going to surrender. Bootlegger released the submission hold and slapped O’Conner mockingly on the back of the head before heading over to the corner and shouting over the top rope at Korso, asking how come Korso couldn’t do this. When Barlotta turned back around, however, O’Conner screamed at his opponent to tell him where his wife was before nailing him with a vicious spear tackle that could have broken some of Barlotta’s ribs. Mounting his opponent, O’Conner hammered away repeatedly with right hands to Bootlegger’s face. The referee again had to step in and pull O’Conner off, but O’Conner wouldn’t be stopped. Once Bootlegger got back to his feet O’Conner attacked with a flying bodypress, but Bootlegger caught him in mid air and turned it into a fallaway slam that sent O’Conner out under the bottom rope. With O’Conner on the outside, Betty came running down to ringside with a taser in hand. The Bootlegger kept the referee distracted, complaining that all the cameras around ringside were blinding him and making it impossible to concentrate on the match. The distraction allowed Betty to sneak up on O’Conner from behind, but the Captain had seen this before, and slid back into the ring before Betty could get a shot in. It was starting to look like O’Conner couldn’t be kept down. Coming up on Bootlegger from behind, O’Conner grabbed his opponent and nailed a punishing cradle DDT before applying the Celtic Cross!!! O’Conner looked ready to defeat his one rival that he had never been able to top when Betty jumped in the ring with her taser. The referee saw what was happening and immediately cut the Bootleggerette off before she could get near O’Conner, but it kept the referee blinded to the fact that Bootlegger was tapping out. Seeing that his opponent was beaten, O’Conner released the hold and grabbed the ref, pulling his attention back to the match. The referee ordered Betty out to the floor and, seeing that the Cross had been broken, she obliged. O’Conner turned back to Bootlegger, but when he did he was met with a handful of salt being tossed right in his eyes. The Captain swung blindly at Bootlegger, but with his vision impaired, it was futile. As the ref turned back to the combatants, Bootlegger delivered a stiff kick to the midsection before delivering the Heart’s Desire. The fans started to boo loudly and pelt the ring with garbage, but just as Bootlegger moved in to make the cover, the theme music from the old Tonight Show started to play over the loudspeaker. Bootlegger looked around in surprise when suddenly a large man in a Johnny Carson mask came running in from the crowd. He jumped in the ring with a golf club. The man tossed the mask away to reveal The Ryno underneath and started assaulting Bootlegger with the club to draw a disqualification. Betty jumped back in with the taser to chase Ryno away, but the damage had been done. Bootlegger was declared the winner by disqualification, allowing O’Conner to keep the title. The Bootlegger was furious. He slid out to the floor, grabbed a chair, and started chasing after Ryno, but he was soon stopped from behind by O’Conner. The two men battled all the way to the back as the screen fades to black.
