MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 fans are
packed into the MMP Coliseum for tonight's event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray
Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I'm
Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer here at the MMP Coliseum, and we have a huge lineup
on tap tonight as we make the stretch run towards Chaos on the Coast live on pay per
view this Wednesday. Big double main event here this evening. First up it will be the
universal champion Death looking to break out of his recent losing streak as he faces Ace
Manley, and that leads into the big crowbar on a pole match between The Ryno and
Twisted Steel. If Ryno wins, he gets Adam Kogler in the ring for five minutes at the end
of the night.
Brewer: And you know, Wood, I've probably never cheered for Ryno once since Ryno
showed up in the MMP more than two years ago but tonight I'm the biggest Ryno fan in
the building. If a bloody Adam Kogler gets carried out of here in a box I'd be the happiest
guy in town. Let's see if this parasite can pay a due in that ring, because there's no way
Steel is coming out on top tonight.
Wood: I can tell from talking to people backstage, Ray, that you aren't the only one
holding that opinion. Mr. Kogler hasn't endeared himself to many people around here, and
most of the guys are pulling for Ryno to give that guy a taste of his own crowbar center
ring at the MMP Coliseum. We kick things off, though, with a match for the MMP tag
team championship. The hall of fame duo of Harbinger and The Destroyer puts the gold
up against the bizarre duo known as The Raggedy Annes. Let's go to the ring for our
opening bout.
MMP Tag Team Championship Match HARBINGER &
THE DESTROYER (C) vs. THE RAGGEDY ANNES
The challengers approached the ring first, being accompanied by the
leader of The Beautiful Ones, Controversy. Annie Christian and Annie Christ still seemed
somewhat confused about what they had to do as they stepped through the ropes, despite
Controversy's best attempts to educate the two men. The champions then emerged from
the dressing room flanked by several Cult minions, but Harbinger wasn't about to wait for
the rest of the group to make it to the ring. He took off down the aisle and slid in after his
two opponents, an unwise move as it left Harbinger at the mercy of the two big men who,
despite their lack of technical wrestling knowledge, clearly enjoyed plain-out hammering
on their adversaries. Harbinger was no exception, and the Annes immediately went to
work on him, punching and stomping the man repeatedly until Destroyer made his way to
the ring to stop the double team. A forearm to the back of Annie Christ's head staggered
the man, and a running kneelift sent the Anne through the ropes to the floor, landing him
at the feet of Controversy, who was doing commentary with Wood and Brewer.
Destroyer then stepped out to the apron, leaving Harbinger and Annie Christian to battle it
out in the ring. Christian continued to control Harbinger, but the tag champ soon started
getting his second wind, firing back against his opponent with a flurry of right hands.
Once he had the Anne dazed Harbinger hurried over to his corner and tagged in
Destroyer, bringing the TV and extreme champion into the match legally for the first time.
The giant wasted no time going to work on Christian, whipping him across the ring and
nearly taking his head off with a big boot to the face. He then pulled Christian back to his
feet and pulled him towards The Cult's corner where he applied an armwringer before
making the tag to Harbinger, who came back into the ring via the top rope. He jumped
off and delivered a double axhandle across Christian's shoulder, which was being held by
Destroyer, doing further damage to the arm. Almost immediately after Harbinger struck,
though, Annie Christ ran back into the ring, knocking Harbinger down with a clothesline
and kicking him repeatedly in the ribs as he lay on the canvas. Destroyer stepped over the
top rope to put a stop to it but the referee, who at the time was closer to Destroyer than
the Annes, had to step in and keep the big man out, thus allowing the double team to
continue. Showing their first glimmer of a strategy the Annes pulled Harbinger over to the
corner and set him on the top rope. They then climbed up after him, setting Harbinger up
for a double DDT. Rather than delivering the move, though, the Annes both lost their
balance and simply collapsed back to the canvas, drawing a burst of laughter from the
audience. On the outside, however, Controversy was less than amused. He slammed his
headset down at the announce table, grabbed the chair he had been sitting on, and slid into
the ring. Once there he cracked Harbinger right across the skull with the foreign object,
sending Harbinger falling off the top turnbuckle to the floor. This happened right in plain
view of the referee, prompting the official to call for the disqualification. Destroyer turned
and advanced on Controversy, who quickly dropped the chair and ran back to the dressing
room with the big man in pursuit. In the ring the Annes stood perfectly still, looking
around at Harbinger, the referee, and each other, trying to decide what to do next. The
official finally suggested they go back to the dressing room, so they did.
Wood: Not the most technically sound match I have ever seen that's
for sure, but it will go down as a victory for Harbinger and Destroyer on a disqualification
resulting from Controversy's interference. The Raggedy Annes don't seem to have a
whole lot going for them in terms of in-ring savvy, but they did show that they have the
size and strength to take it to any of the teams here in the MMP. Do you think
Controversy can whip them into shape?
Brewer: A sane person might be able to do something with them, but that painted freak is
hopeless. Any time you have a pack of ragamuffins like The Beautiful Ones where
Controversy, a man who speaks total gibberish that probably not even he himself can
understand, is the brains of the operation, you know you've got big problems. I'm
surprised this man can even dress himself in the morning, although judging by the way he
looks most of the time I would say even that is hit-or-miss. These Raggedy Annes don't
have a prayer. They'd be better off playing schoolyard bully at one of those mentally-
challenged-adult education centers. I hear that's where Controversy found them in the
first place.
Wood: They are unusual there's no denying that. Who knows, maybe they can somehow
use that to their advantage. I guess only time will tell. Up next we will get our first look
at one of the more promising newcomers to the MMP, a man who arrived in the
federation a little over a week ago and is looking to make a big impact here in his debut
match. That man is Glycerine, but he faces a very formidable opponent tonight in
Benjamin Childs as he looks to kickstart his MMP career.
BENJAMIN CHILDS vs. GLYCERINE
The debuting Glyercine made his way to the ring first, accompanied by
his companion Vanessa. The two stood patiently in the ring as Childs came down the
aisle. The former multiple time champion set up the customary table on the outside before
stepping through the ropes. Glycerine, realizing he could be outmatched facing such top
competition in his first match, was all over Childs right away, meeting him with a series of
kicks to the body even as Childs entered the ring. A quick DDT drove Childs down to the
canvas, and Glycerine had the upper hand early on. He pulled Childs to his feet and laid
into him with right hands but Childs fought back with punches of his own, eventually
getting the upper hand and backing Glycerine back into the corner. Once he had
Glycerine dazed against the buckle he reached up and pressed his boot against the man's
throat in a blatant chokehold, forcing the referee to intervene and order Childs to break
the hold. After a count of four Childs finally let go and whipped his winded opponent
across the ring into the far buckle, following in with an avalanche. Glycerine moved out
of the way and Childs hit the corner pad flush, causing him to stumble back towards the
center of the ring, right into the waiting arms of Glycerine who slammed the man down
with a belly to belly suplex. The rookie then got down and mounted Childs, choking the
man with his bare hands, returning the favor from when Childs had been choking him
earlier in the corner. Again the official stepped in to force a break and Glycerine, not
wanting to risk wasting his fine performance so far, relinquished the hold and pulled Childs
to his feet. After taking Childs over with a snapmare Glycerine applied a reverse chinlock,
trying to wear Childs down further. Slowly but surely Childs started fighting up to his
feet, but before he could fully break free Glycerine let go of the hold and whipped him off
the ropes. Childs, though, managed to hold his position and reverse the whip, sending
Glycerine off the far side and catching him on the rebound with a big boot to the face.
Glycerine went down hard and Childs took full advantage, quickly pulling the man up and
lifting him up in the air, dropping him down throat-first across the top rope. After a
running kneedrop Childs went for the cover, but Glycerine kicked out after only two.
Childs then pulled the man up again, this time grabbing him around the throat by both
hands and hoisting him up in the air. Before he could slam Glycerine down, though, the
rookie broke free with a rake of the eyes, and while Childs was blinded he took the former
champion down with a leg sweep. Frustrated, Childs rolled away from Glycerine and out
to the floor, where he grabbed a steel chair. Glycerine tried to follow the man out but the
referee held him back. When Childs slid back in he went right for Glycerine, jabbing him
in the throat with the top of the chair. A shot over the head finally put Glycerine down,
and the referee waved frantically for the bell, awarding Glycerine the match by
disqualification. Childs, livid with the call, got right in the referee's face and argued the
decision, with Glycerine getting to his feet behind him. Glycerine moved in on Childs, but
running out from the back was The Destroyer. Destroyer stepped over the top rope and,
chain in hand, nailed Glycerine in the back of the head with a hard right. Glycerine went
down fast as Childs turned around to see his opponent down on the canvas and Destroyer
standing in the ring. The Cult Master's voice then came over the loudspeaker.
Cult Master: "Childs, my friend, consider this as a gift to you for your brave effort
against my Destroyer last week! As we have stated, you are a brave soul Childs, and your
spirit is ready to be exposed to my Holy Truth! This is an offering to you, Childs, and The
Destroyer shall present you with a gift from The Cult at Chaos on the Coast. Your true
life begins here, Childs! It begins here..........."
Destroyer turned and walked out of the ring. Childs, with a somewhat surprised look on
his face, dropped the chair and left closely behind.
Wood: Glycerine picks up the victory by disqualification, which has
to be considered at least a minor upset here tonight in his match against Benjamin Childs.
It may only be a disqualification but it is nonetheless a victory over a very highly ranked
contender in the MMP. I think a lot of people are going to take notice of Glycerine
resulting from this match.
Brewer: Childs just couldn't get anything going tonight. Every time he tried something
Glycerine had a block or a counter for it, and frustration finally got to the big man. I'm
more interested in this offer from The Cult. Could they really sucker Ben Childs, one of
Captain Patrick O'Conner's closest friends, to join their fold? It looks like Childs is at least
intrigued by that possibility.
Wood: But Ray I know Ben Childs, and I can't imagine him joining The Cult. He's been
loyal to a fault as long as he's been in the MMP. I don't think The Cult Master could offer
him enough to betray his friends to go with the world champion and his followers. The
action continues here on SNS with what looks like a mismatch on paper, but as we just
saw in the Childs/Glycerine match, nothing in the MMP is automatic. Guru will look to
follow up Glycerine's surprise performance with an upset of his own as he takes on one of
the hottest competitors in the MMP today, the reigning midwestern champion "Amazing"
Andrew Peters.
"AMAZING" ANDREW PETERS vs.
GURU
Guru was already waiting in the ring as Peters and Amanda came
down the aisle, and once Amanda disrobed her man the midwestern champion was all over
the rapper, taking him over with a series of armdrags before locking on an armbar. Guru
slowly fought his way back to his feet but was whipped to the buckle by Peters, who
caught Guru on the rebound and took him over with a snapmare. Peters delivered a kick
to the back as Guru climbed back up once again, and once the man was up Peters caught
him with a running clothesline that sent the man over the top to the floor. The midwestern
champ followed Guru out and slammed him on the outside before rolling back into the
ring, where he waited patiently as Guru struggled to regain his footing. Guru finally got
up and slid back in but Peters was waiting on him and caught the man with a DDT. He
then pulled Guru up once again and set him for a piledriver, but shook his head "no" and
instead nailed Guru with a version of the Godly Drop!! From there Peters applied the
Antagonizer, and Guru didn't last long. He tapped out almost immediately, and Peters
was declared the winner by submission.
Wood: Another victory for "Amazing" Andrew Peters, who has been
on an incredible roll as of late, defeating Death and Ace Manley in recent weeks and now
tonight making short work of the newcomer Guru. Peters has arguably been the best
wrestler in the MMP over the past couple of months.
Brewer: Well it would be hard to dispute that fact, but I think the man might be playing
with fire come Chaos on the Coast. He's going to have Aries in the ring again, and this
time he's going to have to stand in there and fight it out to a finish. Aries has been in a
very foul mood lately, and Peters using the Godly Drop tonight against Guru is not going
to help matters. Peters will be in for the fight of his life this Wednesday.
Wood: You might have a point there, Ray. Aries is not a man I would want to make
angry, and Peters has done exactly that. We could well see a new midwestern champion
crowned coming up on Wednesday night. Of course Aries and Hades are also co-number
one contenders to the MMP tag team championship and will get a shot at the titles at
BattleGround 3. The other co-number one contenders are the new team of Synthetic
Dawn, and they will be in action next against one of the top duos in MMP history, Super
Cupid and Masochrist, The Congregation. Let's go back to the ring.
THE CONGREGATION vs. SYNTHETIC
DAWN
Synthetic Dawn came to the ring first, with Ambush and Barricade
receiving loud cheers from the crowd as they arrived to the arena. Their entry was cut
short, though, as The Congregation came running out from the back and attacked the two
fan favorites from behind. Masochrist slammed Barricade into the steel safety rail as
Cupid rolled Ambush into the ring. The bell sounded, and the match was underway.
After pounding Ambush with a few right hands Cupid took the man over with a suplex,
stopping momentarily to gloat to the crowd to over his early advantage. He waited for
Ambush to get up and charged with a clothesline, but Ambush ducked down and
countered with a drop toehold that brought Cupid to the canvas. Cupid shot up and ran at
Ambush again, this time being taken over with an armdrag before Ambush slapped on a
rear chinlock. After a few moments Cupid started fighting his way to his feet, driving
repeated elbows into Ambush's midsection until the hold was broken. He whipped
Ambush towards the ropes but Ambush reversed the momentum, sending Cupid off the far
side and taking him over the top rope with a hiptoss. The crowd cheered loudly as
Ambush took over control of the match and followed Cupid to the outside. Those cheers
were quickly cut off, though, as Cupid stopped Ambush on the floor with a hard right
hand to the midsection. He then whipped Ambush into the steps, breaking the steps apart
and causing Ambush to grab his back in obvious pain. Barricade and Masochrist
continued to fight in the aisle as Cupid climbed up on the apron and nailed Ambush with a
flying clothesline, causing Ambush to hit his head off the steps once again. He then rolled
Ambush back into the ring as the referee went down to the floor to break up Barricade
and Masochrist, sending them both to their respective corners. Once Maso was up on the
apron Cupid tagged the big man in, whipping Ambush into Maso who caught him around
the throat and delivered a devastating chokeslam. Maso didn't stay in the ring long,
making another tag almost immediately and bringing Cupid back in. Rather than coming
through the ropes, though, Cupid climbed to the top rope as Maso set Ambush up for a
spike piledriver. As Cupid was getting into position, though, Ambush backdropped
Masochrist and lunged forward towards Cupid, swatting the man's legs and forcing him to
straddle himself across the top turnbuckle. With both Congregation members down
Ambush slowly crawled over to his corner and made the tag to Barricade, who came
running into the ring and went right over to Cupid, bringing him off the top with a
superplex! He then dropped a leg across Cupid's throat and made the cover for the
1...2...Maso broke the pin with a kick to the back of the head of Barricade, but right after
getting the shot in Ambush came over and nailed Maso with a clothesline, sending the big
man over the top to the floor. Synthetic Dawn then focused on Cupid while on the
outside The Ryno hopped over the safety rail and speared Masochrist right into the
ringpost!! He then started kicking the man against the steps while, inside the ring,
Barricade lifted Cupid up on his shoulders as Ambush went to the top rope. Barricade
carried Cupid over to Ambush, who came off and nailed the Mindbender flying forearm,
knocking Cupid head over heels to the canvas! Ambush made the cover for the 1...2...3
while Ryno continued to hammer Masochrist on the outside. The referee raised the hands
of Synthetic Dawn while four of his collegues had to be sent down to break up Ryno and
Masochrist on the outside.
Wood: Synthetic Dawn picks up the victory here on SNS over The
Congregation, building that all important momentum towards BattleGround 3, where they
will get a shot at the MMP tag team championship.
Brewer: A big win for this new duo, and they'll need all the momentum they can get going
into that big title match. The way Harbinger and The Destroyer are going it's going to
take a mighty impressive outing from an outstanding team to wrestle the belts away from
them.
Wood: And let's not forget the interference of Ryno. The hatred between he and
Masochrist clearly burns brighter than ever before, and that will all come to a head this
Wednesday in the tag team inferno match with The Congregation meeting Ryno and his
longtime friend Ace Manley. And while we're talking about Ace, let's go to our next
match. Ace Manley takes on Death in a non-title match. Death will be looking to break
out of his recent slump while Ace looks to defeat the reigning universal champion and thus
earn his biggest win to date in the MMP.
DEATH vs. ACE MANLEY
The two men stood in opposite corners as the opening bell sounded.
Death removed his universal title belt from around his waist and passed it off to the
timekeeper as Ace Manley walked out to the middle of the ring and offered a handshake.
The universal champ looked a little uncertain, but eventually walked out and slapped Ace's
hand, showing a somewhat reluctant acceptance of the gesture. From there, though, the
sportsmanship went right out the window. Death took a couple steps back, and once the
ref called for the men to get the match underway he nailed Ace with a quick short
clothesline, dropping Ace right to the canvas. He followed up with a pair of short
elbowdrops before running off the ropes as Ace pulled himself up. Once Ace was up
Death drove him right back down with a bulldog headlock. The crowd reaction was
mixed as Death controlled the early going, showing that there was a strong contingent of
Ace supporters and Death supporters in the MMP Coliseum. Death pulled Ace up and
went for a hiptoss, but Manley reversed the move and instead took Death over with a
hiptoss of his own. He then dropped a knee right into the small of Death's back before
pulling him up and delivering a backbreaker. Death's back was the clear focus of Manley's
assault, as Ace pulled Death out towards the middle of the ring and applied a modified
Boston crab, driving his knee down into the back of Death's head and neck to apply extra
pressure. Death fought back with all he could, slowly inching his way over towards the
ropes in order to force a break. He finally reached out and grabbed the bottom strand, and
the referee instructed Ace to release the painful hold. Ace complied but wasn't about to
let Death get up so easily, kicking the man in the short ribs repeatedly as the universal
champion struggled to pull himself up in the ropes. Once Death was up Ace whipped the
man across the ring into the corner, but Death startled Ace by shooting out and knocking
him down with a clothesline once again. Ace's head snapped back off the canvas and
Death seemed to be getting his second wind. He hopped up to the second rope and
dropped a leg down across Ace's chest before applying on a figure four leglock. The ref
got down and asked Ace if he wanted to give it up, but Ace adamently refused. After a
few moments Ace finally managed to reverse the hold, putting the pressure back on
Death's legs. Death grabbed hold of the ropes and again the official made Ace let go of
the hold, but it looked like the damage had been done. As Death got to his feet he was
met with a series of right hands from his opponent, the former boxer, backing him into the
ropes. Ace whipped Death off the ropes and sent himself off the other side, coming in
with a big clothesline. Death ducked under and both men hit the ropes once more, this
time with Death nailing Ace with a huge spear! Ace had the wind knocked right out of
him and Death took full advantage, pulling the man up and delivering the Death Drop. He
floated over and made the cover for the 1...2...3 to score the victory. The ref handed
Death back his title belt as the decision was announced, but before Death could leave Ace
was back to his feet. Again Ace was offering a handshake, congratulating his opponent on
a hard fought victory. This time Death accepted fully, showing a mutual respect between
the two.
Wood: Death picks up the victory here tonight, finally breaking out of
the slump that he has been in for the past couple of weeks. And the timing couldn't be
better, given that he has a universal title defense this Wednesday against The Joker's
Child.
Brewer: And now instead it is Ace Manley who is showing signs of slipping a bit. He has
now lost back to back matches, granted they were both against men who currently hold
championships in the MMP, but with the big inferno match coming up at Chaos on the
Coast, Ace will have to turn it around in a hurry or he could find himself losing more than
just a match.
Wood: And with that, folks, it's time for our main event. You can see the pole being
strapped in position around the ringpost with Twisted Steel's trademark crowbar hanging
high above. Either he or The Ryno will get their hands on that weapon, and if it's Ryno
that achieves that goal you can be sure he'll be getting five minutes in the ring with Adam
Kogler before we go off the air.
Crowbar on a Pole Match THE RYNO vs. TWISTED
STEEL
Ryno came to the ring first, wearing a set of brass knuckles on each
hand and carrying a ladder with him as he came down the aisle. He shoved the ladder into
the ring and climbed through the ropes as "Fucking Hostile" blared over the loudspeaker
and Steel and Kogler made their way out with Kogler carrying a black gym bag. Kogler,
as usual, had a microphone:
Kogler: "Ryno, Ryno, Ryno ... ever since we arrived in this dismal promotion, you've
been a thorn in our side. From what I've gathered, many of the boys in the back feel the
same way as I do. In fact, the only people who may still care about you are the people you
have the most in common with: these dimwitted, idiotic, smelly and drop dead ugly MMP
fans. But after tonight, when Twisted Steel climbs that pole and seizes the crowbar that
hangs from it, it will be OVER. These fair-weather fans will forget about you just as quick
as everyone else around here. We will have exorcised one the biggest atrocities in
wrestling from the business. So if you...
Before Kogler could finish his rant Ryno, much like many of the fans in the arena and
certainly much like Ray Brewer, got fed up with the scrawny reporter's tirade and tossed
his ladder over the top rope, forcing Steel and Kogler to scramble to get out of the way.
Ryno then slid out and ran right after Steel, taking him to the floor with a hard right hand
aided by the brass knuckles. He began kicking Steel in the upper torso, but suddenly
stopped and turned his attention to Adam Kogler. He grabbed Kogler by the scruff of the
neck and slammed him with a punch to the side of the head, sending Kogler into
dreamland. With both Steel and Kogler down in the runway Ryno grabbed his ladder and
carried it back to the ring, draping it across the ring apron and the steel safety rail. By the
time he got it in place, though, Steel was back to his feet and down at the ring behind
Ryno. Steel had his leather vest off and started whipping Ryno across the back with it
before using it to choke the man down on the outside, draining the air out of Ryno's
muscular body. He then sent Ryno into the ring where he whipped him off the ropes,
catching him on the rebound with a somersault legdrop. Rather than going for a cover,
though, Steel walked over and checked on Adam Kogler, who was just now starting to
come back around. Kogler reached into his gym bag and passed Steel something, which
he carried into the ring as he headed back over to Ryno. Ryno reached up and swatted at
Steel's hand, sending a cluster of powder right back into Steel's face. Kogler's plan had
backfired, and he started slamming his hands on the ring apron out of frustration. As
Ryno started taking over again, Super Cupid came down to the ring, pushing a dumpster.
He left the dumpster near the corner where the crowbar hung before walking over and
shaking hands with Adam Kogler. The two men looked on as Ryno started hammering
Steel with rights and lefts with his bare hands - the brass knucks had fallen off some time
ago - finishing off the series with a hard uppercut that knocked Steel to the canvas. With
Steel down Ryno started climbing for the crowbar. Super Cupid jumped up on the apron,
but before he could do any damage Ace Manley came running out from the back and
grabbed him, pulling him down off the apron and slamming him against the wall of the
dumpster. The two men traded punches down on the floor, and Kogler was sweating
bullets as Ryno got to the top turnbuckle, reached up, and...caught a face full of fire
extinguisher from Masochrist, who popped up out of the dumpster!! Ryno fell back into
the ring but shot up to this feet, running back to the corner and reaching over the top to
try and get at Maso. As Ryno had his back turned, though, Steel got back to his feet and
nailed Ryno with the Crazy Train, a dropkick to the back with Ryno in the corner. Ryno
fell over the top rope to the floor as Steel climbed up and grabbed the crowbar off the
pole. He then dove off the top rope and slammed the crowbar down across the top of
Ryno's head before rolling him back into the ring and delivering the Living End! Steel
made the cover for the 1...2...Ryno kicked out!! Kogler couldn't believe it, and he was
screaming at the referee for not making the full three count. Out on the floor Masochrist
climbed out of the dumpster and joined Cupid in double-teaming Ace Manley, drawing a
large crowd of referee's out from the back to break things up. Back in the ring Steel had
the crowbar in his hands again. Rather than just hitting Ryno with it, though, he hooked it
behind Ryno's neck as he delivered another Living End!! Again he made a cover, but this
time he got the three count. With Ryno down and out Adam Kogler slid into the ring and
laid a bunch of weak kicks into the man's midsection before raising Steel's hand in victory
as the scene fades to black.
