April 29
OOC: The Crimson vs. George Achica match for this week has been
cancelled as a result of neither wrestler submitting a strategy.
Outside the arena before the show goes on the air, Virus Richards is
walking into the arena with his bodyguard Spikes. As they approach the entrance of the
MMP Coliseum, Hades runs up on Virus from behind and attacks him with a steel chair!
Spikes turns to come to his boss' aid, but before he can intervene Aries grabs the man
from behind and smothers him with a rag soaked in chloroform, holding it in place until
the big man has been rendered unconscious. Hades then delivers a second chair shot to
Virus before helping Aries drag Spikes over to a nearby parked car. The driver of the car,
whose face remains hidden, pops the trunk open and the two Greek stars shove Spikes
inside. They slam the lid down and the car speeds away with Spikes trapped in the
trunk.
MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 fans are jammed into the
MMP Coliseum for tonight's big event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at
ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I'm
Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer, fresh off the heels of Homicidal Tendencies. Fans
everywhere are still talking about that huge event. The three-fall four-way ladder match is
being heralded as one of the greatest matches in MMP history, and people are still buzzing
about the double turn of Virus Richards in the dangerous game match, betraying not only
his tag team partner The Joker's Child, but also destroying his supposed reunion with The
Bootlegger. We've got a big lineup on tap here tonight as we take our first steps on the
path to the two-year anniversary show, WrestleFest 2000, which comes our way May 30-
June 1.
Brewer: A huge variety of matches has been scheduled for this event tonight. Just days
after the big ladder match the universal championship will be decided here tonight between
two of the men who did battle for it at Homicidal Tendencies as Benjamin Childs puts the
belt on the line against Death. The unlikely duo of Virus Richards and "Amazing" Andrew
Peters will be in action tonight against the team of Aries and Hades who, by the footage
we have just seen, have gotten the first shot in here tonight at the MMP
Coliseum.
Wood: As well we will see The Cult Master taking on Masked Man X in one of our
feature bouts, and The Cloaked Shroud will look to rebound from his first defeat in the
MMP suffered at Homicidal Tendencies as he does battle with Wolverine. ASSociate
Passion will face Amanda in a nightgown match, but we kick things off tonight with a
battle of two of the newest members of the MMP roster. Controversy, who despite being
around for several weeks now will be involved in only his third match to date, as he takes
on Guru, who will be making his MMP debut here tonight. Let's go to the ring for our
opening bout.
CONTROVERSY vs. GURU
With Guru already waiting in the ring, Controversy made his way
down accompanied by The Beautiful Ones, the trio of Lolli Pop, Angel Dust, and
Reverend Bob. As soon as the group arrived at the ring, though, the referee was right
over to cut them off, ordering all three of Controversy's associated back to the dressing
room. The decision didn't set well with Controversy, but the three quickly succumbed to
the referee's wishes and left the ringside area. Controversy then slid into the ring where
Guru was waiting for him. Guru swung wildly with a right hand aimed right for
Controversy's forehead, but the painted man ducked out of the way and responded with a
hard chop to Guru's chest. A second chop backed Guru into the corner, where
Controversy nailed the rookie with a hard right hand to the midsection. He then whipped
Guru across the ring into the far corner and followed the man in with a big splash, but
Guru got an elbow up, catching Controversy square in the jaw as he came in. Controversy
staggered back and Guru took advantage of the momentum shift, whipping him off the
rope and catching him on the rebound with a kick to the face that dropped Controversy
hard to the canvas. Guru then slowed the pace down, dropping to the canvas himself and
applying an armbar on his dazed opponent. After taking a moment to catch his breath
with the weardown hold, Guru pulled Controversy up to his feet and whipped him off the
ropes again, though this time he met his opponent with a hard elbow smash to the face.
He dropped a leg across Controversy's chest and made a cover, but Controversy kicked
out after only a two count. Guru waited for Controversy to get to his feet before going
for a dropkick but Controversy brushed it off, causing Guru to fall on the back of his head.
Controversy quickly backed up and hopped to the second rope, jumping off with a
kneedrop down across Guru's forehead. He then pulled Guru to his feet and delivered a
swinging neckbreaker, with the momentum sending Guru rolling under the bottom rope
after he had been taken to the mat. Controversy followed the man out and scooped him
up in a bodyslam, cautiously placing him down on the announce table. The referee
shouted at Controversy to get back in the ring, prompting the bizarre newcomer to turn
away from Guru and slide quickly back into the ring, getting right in the official's face.
While the argument was going on, Guru rolled off the table and started to get back in the
ring himself. Before he could get in, though, two large men dressed as Raggedy Anne
dolls hopped over the safety rail and nailed Guru from behind. They grabbed Guru around
the throat, carried him over to the announce table, and delivered a devastating double
chokeslam!! Guru crashed to the floor amongst a heap of broadcast equipment, and the
two men escaped back through the crowd. Seeing that his opponent had been taken out
on the floor, Controversy stepped away from the referee and told him to count the man
out. The ref turned to see what had happened, and though he was stunned at what he saw
he had no choice but to begin the ten count. Seconds later the ref made it up to ten, and
he called for the bell, awarding the match to Controversy as a result of a count
out.
Wood: Controversy secures his first win here in the MMP, although it
comes amids some very controversial circumstances. They are helping Guru back to the
dressing room as we speak, and I'm still not sure what to make of this.
Brewer: Those two men looked very familiar, Wood. I can't quite...wait, were those the
same guys that Controversy interrupted while they were trying to break into a car earlier
this week? That tape was passed around the MMP office a few days ago...yes, I think
that's who those two guys were, although it doesn't explain why they were dressed as
Raggedy Anne dolls. This is a very strange situation unfolding here, Wood.
Wood: I sure can't make any sense of this. I can only hope we'll get some more
information on this sequence of events later in the week. We go from one unusual
situation to another, as it's time for our first ever nightgown match. ASSociate Passion
and Amanda are about to go at right here on Saturday Night Slams.
Nightgown Match
ASSOCIATE PASSION vs.
AMANDA
Amanda came to the ring first, accompanied by MMP midwestern
champion "Amazing" Andrew Peters. Passion then made her way out wearing a stunning
black gown, followed closely by The Black Cross. The masked man looked significantly
taller than he was in his previous appearances, bringing an uncertain look to the face of
both Peters and the referee. Amanda attacked Passion right at the bell, throwing her down
to the canvas and slamming her head back against the mat. She then raked Passion's eyes
with her long fingernails and suplexed the woman over before tearing off the top part of
her gown, revealing a second green gown underneath. Amanda screamed at the referee
that Passion was breaking the rules before pulling her opponent back to her feet once
again. This time Passion caught Amanda with a sharp kneelift to the midsection, followed
by a DDT. She then began driving her knee into Amanda's back as a voluptuous blond
wearing the same black gown that Passion had started the match in made her way down to
the ring and stood near The Black Cross. Passion smiled as she saw the woman arrive,
and pulled Amanda back to her feet. Andrew Peters' valet pushed Passion away, though,
and nailed her with a hard slap across the face, dazing her long enough to pull off the rest
of the black gown. She then started to work on Passion's second green gown, but just
then The Black Cross ran around the ring and nailed Peters with a hard clothesline before
pulling off the mask to reveal The Bootlegger underneath the costume. The referee turned
over and yelled at Bootlegger to go back to his corner, diverting his attention away from
the match. With the ref's back turned Passion reached down into her cleavage and pulled
out a handful of salt, which she tossed into Amanda's eyes as she quickly spun around.
While Amanda squirmed on the canvas clutching her face, Passion tore her gown off and
grabbed the referee to show that Amanda had been stripped down to her undergarments.
The official called for the bell, declaring Passion the winner.
Wood: Passion is your winner here in the nightgown match, thanks to
a little help on the outside from The Bootlegger who, it would appear, has found his new
ASSociate. I'm sure this won't sit well with Peters and Amanda, as she did, in fact, strip
her opponent of her nightgown first. Either way, the fans go home happy from this one.
We now go back to the real wrestling here at the MMP Coliseum, with two men looking
to rebound from disappointments at Homicidal Tendencies. Wolverine, of course, saw
Harbinger and The Destroyer capture the tag team championship that had been held by
himself and Death, while The Cloaked Shroud looks to rebound from his first ever defeat
here in the MMP. Both men will be looking to get back on track as they do battle in
singles competition.
WOLVERINE vs. THE CLOAKED
SHROUD
Wolverine didn't waste any time going after Shroud once the opening
bell rang, catching his masked adversary off guard with a boot to the face in the opening
moments. The "Michigan Outlaw" never let up from there, hoisting the mysterious man
high in the air by his throat. He dropped Shroud hard into the corner turnbuckle where he
laid into his opponent with a series of hard right hands before taking him over with a
snapmare. Shroud landed in a sitting position, allowing Wolverine to drive a knee hard
into the back of Shroud's head, which dropped the masked man flat to the mat. Wolverine
dropped an elbow across the chest, and then dropped a leg across the throat before going
for a cover. Shroud was able to kick out after two, but Wolverine kept the offense
coming. He pulled Shroud to his feet only to slam him back down. Wolverine then
grabbed his opponent's legs and catapulted him into the far turnbuckle. Shroud hit head
first on the steel ring post and stumbled back into the waiting arms of Wolverine, who
picked the man up and delivered the Awakening! Wolverine made another cover, hooking
the far leg, and this time was able to score the three count. As Wolverine was about to
leave the ring, he spotted Death coming down the aisle. He stopped and stood in the ring,
daring Death to come on down, but he never saw Death's manager Q coming in from
behind. Q nailed Wolverine across the back with a steel chair, dropping Wolverine to one
knee. Wolverine got up quickly and turned towards Q, who dropped the chair and quickly
started backpeddling. With Wolverine's back turned Death saw the perfect opportunity,
and he ran down to the ring. Just as Wolverine got his hands on Q Death grabbed his
former tag team partner from behind and delivered the Death Drop, dropping the back of
Wolverine's head down hard on the steel chair! Wolverine was left laying, and Death and
Q quickly made their exit.
Wood: Looks like the loss of the tag team championship isn't going
to put an end to this rivalry between Wolverine and Death. In fact, things may just be
heating up between these two former partners. I'm sure Wolverine isn't going to take this
lying down.
Brewer: No, I'm sure he won't. I've never been a big Wolverine fan, but I have to give the
guy credit for not taking any crap from anyone. He may lose more matches than he wins,
but he always tries to get the last word in. There's something to be said for that.
Wood: This is a fairly important victory for Wolverine, as it looks as if he'll be back
focusing on a singles career in the immediate future with Harbinger and The Destroyer
capturing the tag team championship at Homicidal Tendencies this past Wednesday. The
rumors have been flying around about which title shots various wrestlers will be offered
for the upcoming WrestleFest PPV event, and I know Wolverine is being considered for
various series. Tonight's win could do a lot to elevate him in the eyes of the front office,
and may lead to him being offered a shot at a more significant championship. Speaking of
championships, the number two title in the MMP is about to be decided between two men
who were involved in that spectacular ladder match just three days ago. The defending
champion, Benjamin Childs, puts the belt on the line against Death.
MMP Universal Championship Match
BENJAMIN
CHILDS (C) vs. DEATH
Childs was already waiting in the ring as Death made his way to the
ring accompanied by Q. The two men were still laughing it up after their sneak attack on
Wolverine in the previous match, but Death's mood quickly turned very serious as he
stepped through the ropes and caught Childs off guard with a kick to the midsection even
before the opening bell. The ref called for the bell as Death floored Childs with a running
kneelift. Death then delivered a pair of kneedrops across Childs' left arm before pulling
the man up and delivering a swinging neckbreaker. From there the challenger took the
match to the air, going to the second rope and delivering a flying legdrop. Rather than
going for a cover, though, he dragged Childs over towards the ropes, draped the
champion throat first along the middle strand, and pressed his foot down on Childs' back
to apply extra pressure. The official quickly stepped in and ordered Death to break and
the challenger, realizing that he could be close to winning his first singles title, didn't
hesitate to agree to the referee's instructions. He let up immediately and Childs was slow
to his feet, grabbing his throat as he gasped for air. Before long, though, Death was back
on top of Childs, nailing him with an atomic drop and then with the Death Drop! Childs'
head snapped back off the canvas and Death quickly made the cover for the 1...2...3 to
grab the universal title.
Wood: Folks we have a new universal champion here on Saturday
Night Slams, and that man is Death! This title sure has been a hot potato lately. The belt
that used to change hands only on rare occurances when men such as The Ryno, The
Bootlegger, and Daark held the gold has traded between three champions, from The
Regulator to Benjamin Childs to Death, over the past couple of months. It just goes to
show how coveted that title really is, as many of the men who have held that belt have
gone on to capture the MMP world championship.
Brewer: It's true, Wood, most of the top guys in MMP history have held that belt.
Psychotic Sam, O'Conner, Korso, Aries...they've all done it. Death, despite his big mouth
and his half-assed attempts at comedy, has now managed to add his name to that list. This
is a big opportunity for him. It will be interesting to see how he responds to the challenge
of being the MMP universal champion.
Wood: Yes indeed it will, Ray. It also thrusts Death into the spotlight for WrestleFest, as
one of his first challenges as champion will be to go through three challengers hand
selected by the front office on back to back to back nights. That should give us a good
indication right away of whether Death will be able to handle the pressure of being one of
the most wanted men in the company. We've got tag team action coming up next. The
Greek brothers Aries and Hades team up for the first time in the MMP to take on a very
unlikely duo of two singles champions, Virus Richards and "Amazing" Andrew Peters.
This is also the first time teaming up for Richards and Peters, but they certainly can't know
each other as well as Aries and Hades do. This should be a very interesting matchup to
say the least. Can the egos of Richards and Peters co-exist long enough to give Aries and
Hades a fight? We're about to find out as we send it back to the ring.
VIRUS RICHARDS & "AMAZING" ANDREW PETERS vs.
ARIES & HADES
Aries and Hades made their way to the ring first, and the expressions
on their faces said that they would be all business in this match. Andrew Peters then
arrived at the ring, the midwestern championship belt strapped around his waist and
Amanda, still visibly upset with the result of the nightgown match earlier in the evening, at
his side. As soon as Peters stepped up on the apron, though, Aries and Hades were all
over him, hammering him with forearms and pulling the man into the ring over the top
rope. The referee eventually ushered Aries out to the apron and Hades took over in the
early going, backing Peters into the corner with a series of kicks to the body before
hiptossing him out to the middle of the ring and dropping a leg down across Peters' left
shoulder. In the meantime Virus Richards' entrance music was playing, but the extreme
champion was nowhere to be found. The cameras cut backstage, where a wall of police
officers had surrounded The Congregation as they tried to leave their dressing room.
Virus was just then making his way towards the ring, but he stopped to ridicule Ryno and
Masochrist, telling them they'd "have to do better than that" if they wanted to get at him
again. The extreme champion finally left the scene and headed out into the arena, though
it was clear that he was in no hurry to get to the ring and help his tag team partner. Back
in the ring Hades and made the tag to Aries, who was just then stepping over the top rope
into the ring. Hades pulled Peters to his feet and whipped him across the ring into Aries,
who floored the midwestern champion with a big boot to the face. Peters hit the mat hard
over near the Aries/Hades corner and Virus jumped up on the apron, berating Peters and
demanding that Peters tag him, even though he knew that Peters was on the other side of
the ring and there was no way he could make the exchange. A forearm from Aries sent
Peters back into the corner once again, and the "Beast from Greece" got in a few kicks to
the body before reaching over and making the tag to Hades. When Hades got back into
the ring, though, Peters managed to reach up and rake the man's face, buying him a
moment that he desperately needed to try and regroup. While Hades stumbled blindly into
the corner Peters started to get a second wind and laid into Hades with some hard chops
across the chest before driving a pair of knees into the midsection. The midwestern
champion then suplexed Hades out, sending him towards the center of the ring. With
Hades down Peters stumbled quickly over to his corner and tried to make a tag, but Virus
quickly jumped down from the apron and refused the exchange. Peters began screaming
at Richards to get in the match, but Virus simply responded by looking over at Amanda
and yelling "for the last time, NO, I'm not looking for a good time!!" The midwestern
champ was enraged and started through the ropes after Virus, but Hades cut him off,
nailing him from behind with a forearm to the back of the head. He then scooped Peters
up and slammed him out towards the middle of the ring before going over and making
another tag, bringing Aries back into the ring. Aries dragged Peters' badly beaten body up
off the canvas and whipped him off the ropes, catching him on the rebound with a
sidewalk slam. At that point an unidentified woman hopped over the safety rail along the
aisle and made a mad dash right towards Amanda. Once the woman got close enough, the
cameras identified her as Nashira, the valet of MMP newcomer Baital. She grabbed
Amanda and threw her to the canvas, while in the ring Aries started to pick Peters up
again. This time, though, Peters countered with a low blow, and an expression of pain
quickly became etched across Aries' face. Peters then summoned up every ounce of
strength he could and took the big man over with a belly to belly suplex, slamming Aries
down hard before he spotted what was happening on the floor with Amanda. He
immediately slid out to pull Nashira off his lovely valet and when he did Baital arrived,
nailing Peters with a clothesline to the back of the head. The referee quickly jumped down
to keep Baital away from Peters, who had already taken quite a pounding from Aries and
Hades throughout the match. All the while Virus Richards stood over by the timekeeper's
table, keeping his distance from anyone involved in the match. As the extreme champion
stood back chuckling under his breath at the carnage on the other side of the ring he left
his back to the crowd and never saw The Bootlegger coming towards the ring through the
crowd. The MMP world champion hopped over the safety rail behind Peters and nailed
his former ally right across the back of the head with the world championship belt!!
Richards went down like a ton of bricks. Bootlegger quickly pulled Virus up and rolled
him into the ring under the bottom rope, where Aries stood waiting. The world champ
then grabbed Virus' extreme championship belt and hurried over to attack Baital, sending
the referee back to the ring in the process. Peters got back to his feet and angrily waved
the ring off as he headed back to the dressing room, with Bootlegger following closely
behind. The official slid back into the ring just in time to see Aries nail Virus with the
Godly Drop and make the cover, which allowed Aries to score the three count. After the
match Aries and Hades were joined in the ring by Baital and Nashira. Hades demanded a
microphone:
Hades: Well guess what everybody has been talking about baitals allies. Aries and I are
it. The most dangerous trio to ever step foot in the MMP. Like baital and Nashira said
earlier in the week. This is only the beginning.
He then passed the mic to Nashira, who continued.
Nashira- Well Hades, we have been planning for this for quite some time and if
anybody what their wants to now. We fear nothing, we are everything you fear. And we
are taking what is ours.
The valet then tossed the mic aside and led the trio of grapplers out of the ring and back to
the dressing room while Virus pulled himself up on the outside.
Wood: I have to say I never thought for a minute that this duo of
Virus Richards and Andrew Peters would work out, and to the surprise, I'm sure, of very
few people, their first attempt at teaming together failed miserably. Aries and Hades are
victorious in their first outing in tag team action, and if this newcomer Baital can live up
the reputation he has earned in various other federations, this could be a very formidable
trio as we head into the summer months.
Brewer: I've got no comment on Baital right now, Wood. Until we get a good look at
him in an MMP ring, he's just another newcomer. Hades, though, looked a lot better here
tonight. Some people were questioning the legitimacy of his win over John Ashley, and
there was no question that there was no legitimacy to that so-called win over Mr.
Beumont at Homicidal Tendencies, but Hades held his own against the midwestern
champion here tonight. No word on whether Hades is going to be offered a chance to
compete at WrestleFest, but I would say his showing tonight had to help his
cause.
Wood: That's a good point, Ray. There are a lot of guys on the bubble right now, and I
understand that the front office is going to be in touch with many of the wrestlers over the
next couple of days to discuss plans for that huge event. I'm sure there will be a lot of
guys sitting by the phone this weekend, not unlike a collegiate athlete on draft day. Two
men who are sure to play a big part in the festivities of the two-year anniversary event will
do battle here tonight in our feature bout as The Cult Master, who to the best of my
recollection has suffered only one loss to date here in 2000, does battle with the man who
says he is a hero once more, Masked Man X!
THE CULT MASTER vs. MASKED MAN
X
"My Hero" blared over the loudspeaker as Masked Man X made his
way down the aisle at the MMP Coliseum, accompanied to the ring as always by his trusty
sidekick, Mighty Midget. As MMX stepped through the ropes his music was abruptly cut
off by the familiar sounds of "Carmina Burana", indicating the arrival of The Cult Master,
who was flanked by the new MMP tag team champions, Harbinger and The Destroyer.
Harbinger and Destroyer stood calmly at ringside, displaying not only their tag title belts
but also Destroyer's TV title strap as their leader locked up with MMX in the middle of
the ring. The two superstars jockeyed for position, but it was MMX getting the early
upper hand. He wrestled Cult Master into a side headlock, but Cult Master was quick to
counter by whipping MMX off the far side ropes. MMX came back in and delivered a
hard shoulderblock to The Cult Master, but neither man budged on impact. MMX then
ran off the ropes again, and Cult Master bounced off the perpendicular strands, criss-
crossing several times with his opponent. After a few moments Cult Master created a
momentary hesitation in his course such that the next time he crossed with MMX he was
able to grab the masked wrestler by the head and drive him to the canvas with a bulldog
headlock! MMX was drived hard face-first into the canvas and Cult Master quickly
jumped on his back, applying a camel clutch. As MMX struggled to try and reach the
ropes The Cult Master berated him viciously, screaming at MMX for questioning his
virtue and challenging his godhood. MMX finally managed to reach out and grab the
middle rope, and Cult Master reluctantly broke the hold. He pulled MMX to his feet and
attempted a northern lights suplex, but amazingly MMX was able to put on the brakes and
take Cult Master over with a suplex of his own. Cult Master looked shocked that MMX
was able to make a comeback so quickly and shot back to his feet, but when he did he was
met with a running clothesline from his opponent that sent the leader of The Cult up and
over the top rope, all the way out to the floor. MMX waited for Cult Master to get back
to his feet and slingshot himself over the top rope, nailing Cult Master with a flying
bodypress on the outside which drew a loud pop from the sold out crowd. He then rolled
Cult Master back into the ring and sent the man hard into the far corner where he nailed
the man with a big splash against the buckle. With the wind knocked out of Cult Master
MMX hoisted the man up on the top rope in position for a superplex, but as soon as he
climbed the ropes himself Cult Master shoved him down, sending MMX hard to the mat
below. Cult Master then shook the cobwebs loose and jumped back down to the canvas.
MMX got him and charged him quickly, but Cult Master caught him coming in and lifted
him up, driving him down to the mat with a Samoan drop. He then mounted MMX and
rained a series of hard right hands down into the man's forehead, continuing relentlessly
until the ref stepped in and ordered him to let MMX get back to his feet. Cult Master did
one step better and actually pulled MMX up himself, but that proved to be a mistake.
MMX went for a kick to the body that Cult Master caught, but that enabled MMX to
deliver an insigury kick to the back of the head, dropping Cult Master face first to the
canvas. Both men needed the aid of the ropes to pull themselves up this time, with each
man slowly working towards opposing corners. MMX got his bearings first, moving out
towards the center of the ring while Cult Master remained slumped against the buckle.
MMX ran in and attempted to spear Cult Master, but the leader of The Cult was playing
possum. He stepped out of the way at the last minute, and MMX flew through the ropes
and smashed his shoulder into the steel ring post! Cult Master took advantage right away,
slamming MMX face first into the top turnbuckle before hoisting him up to the top rope,
where he delivered the Final Prayer!! He quickly floated over and hooked MMX's leg as
the ref got down and counted the 1...2...3 to end a very hard fought match. Harbinger and
Destroyer pulled their leader out of the ring and helped him to the dressing room. The
shot showed the victorious Cult Master being held up by his two faithful followers as the
screen fades to black.
