MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 fans are jammed into the MMP Coliseum for tonight’s event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.

Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I’m Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight, less than two weeks away from March Mayhem down in Durham, North Carolina, the MMP world championship will be decided when the champion, Virus Richards, heads into action against the number-one contender to that title, the man who currently holds the universal championship, Onyx Cooper, The Regulator. Ray, I have to question the wisdom in taking such a match. Virus has two big title matches coming up at the PPV, one against The Ryno for the extreme title and of course the main event against The Bootlegger for the world title, but he is very much at risk of going into the event at less than 100% by taking a matchup of this calibre so close to that event.

Brewer: There’s always a risk any time you step into the ring with The Regulator. He’s beaten a lot of guys that he wasn’t supposed to be able to take. It was less than a year ago when he defeated Masochrist for the world title right before a big PPV event in a match that most people felt he had no business even being in. More recently he beat Hassan Abu Saada, a man more than twice his size, on a Hardcore Saturday Night for the universal title. But I don’t think there’s any doubt that he wants to get his hands on Richards more than he did either of those two other men. I wouldn’t want to be in Richards’ shoes tonight, and I’m going to predict that we are going to see a new champion crowned right here tonight on Saturday Night Slams.

Wood: Aside from that main event match we will see the midwestern title at stake as well tonight in a small prelude to March Mayhem when “Amazing” Andrew Peters puts the title on the line against Ambush. We will set the finals of the tag team championship tournament as the number-one seeds, Benjamin Childs and George Achica, take on the unlikely duo of Death and Wolverine. The Ryno returns to in-ring action against a mystery opponent, but we kick things off tonight with one of two debut matches that we will see here on SNS. Hades, the brother of former MMP world champion Aries, is in action for the very first time here tonight, and will look to head into the pentagon match at March Mayhem with some momentum on his side as he battles Hyoga. Let’s go to the ring for our opening contest here at the MMP Coliseum!

HYOGA vs. HADES

The newcomer Hades made his way to the ring, walking in the shadow of his giant brother, former MMP world champion Aries. Hyoga was then introduced and the Swiss star came running down the aisle, sliding into the ring and taking Hades down with a spear before the rookie could react. He stayed on top of his opponent, throwing right hands down into the forehead of Hades until the referee interrupted, ordering Hyoga to get off and let Hades get to his feet. Hyoga didn’t stay back for long, pushing past the referee and using his boot to choke the life out of Hades. He let up only as Hades made it to the ropes, and when Hades got back to his feet Hyoga delivered a big running clothesline that sent the Greek newcomer over the top rope to the floor. Hyoga motioned towards the floor and started to follow the man out but was cut off by the referee, who began scolding Hyoga for his actions in the early going. While the argument was going on, Milov Scorpio and two of his men came running down the aisle and headed right for Hades. The trio hammered on Hades as he got back to his feet, prompting Aries to circle around the ring and take out Scorpio’s two men with big boots to the face. Aries then hooked up with Scorpio, and the two men traded punches back and forth until a group of referees came running down to break them up. Aries went back around to the other side, while Scorpio checked on the condition of his associates. Hades finally started back into the ring and Hyoga pushed away from the referee, going right back after his opponent. Hades was ready for him, though, stunning Hyoga with a kneelift to the midsection before taking him over with a hiptoss and stepping down on Hyoga’s left hand. Hyoga screamed in agony as Hades pressed down with all his weight on the hand, swatting at Hades with his one free arm to try and push him off. Hades was in control, though, and fought off Hyoga’s attempt with a pair of right hands to the side of the head that put Hyoga back to the canvas. Finally Hyoga got his hand free, but it was only because Hades stepped back to deliver a kneedrop across the chest. He then pulled Hyoga to his feet and whipped him across the ring into the far corner. Hyoga’s back hit hard against the corner pad, leaving him slumped in the corner as Hades moved across the ring. He slid under the bottom rope and grabbed Hyoga by the legs, tripping him up and dropping Hyoga face first to the canvas. He then pulled hard backwards, splitting Hyoga’s legs around the steel ring post. As Hades climbed back into the ring, members of the CWO made their way down to ringside. Each man was carrying an anti-Hyoga sign as they paraded around the area, making sure to keep their distance from Milov Scorpio and his assistants. In the ring Hades was in control of the match, slowly pulling Hyoga back to his feet and measuring him for a short clothesline. At the last second Hyoga ducked down out of the way, and the clothesline struck the referee right across the jaw! The official went down hard, leaving no one to supervise the proceedings. Almost immediately Mr. Beumont slid into the ring with his sign and went after Hyoga, but there to cut him off was one of Scorpio’s workers, who delivered a kick to the midsection before tossing Beumont out to the floor. In the meantime Hyoga started mounting a comeback, nailing Hades with a pair of European uppercuts. Hades ducked a clothesline attempt, but Hyoga responded by locking Hades in a cobra clutch! Hades started to fade, but that prompted Aries to get involved once again, climbing up onto the apron and starting into the ring. Before he could get over to break the hold on Hades, though, Scorpio climbed in on the other side and struck Aries across the back of the head with a bottle of vodka!! Glass and alcohol went flying everywhere, and Aries was down to one knee. Scorpio grabbed him by the leg and pulled him out of the ring, leaving Hyoga in control with Hades still trapped in the cobra clutch. The referee slowly started pulling himself together and moved towards Hades, checking to see if the man wanted to give up. When he didn’t get an answer, the referee stopped the match and awarded the win to Hyoga.

Wood: A huge victory for Hyoga here tonight on Saturday Night Slams, his first in several months! Could this be the turning point that Hyoga has been looking for to help him get back on the winning track here in the MMP?

Brewer: A lot of people have been saying that this is what Hyoga needed to do, to take a couple of matches against some less experienced guys and try to find his confidence. This is only one win, but when you’ve been on a losing streak the first one is the toughest to get. Now we’ll see what Hyoga’s made of. Can he build on this? Only time will tell.

Wood: This is not going to sit well with the Aries/Hades camp, that’s for sure. I know they were extremely confident going into this match tonight, thinking they had found Hades the perfect opponent for his debut. Hyoga had been struggling, but Hades didn’t get the job done. I’m guessing that’s only going to give Hades a little extra added motivation going into the pentagon match coming up at March Mayhem on March 22. We’ve got the first of two championship matches set for tonight coming up next, giving us a little taste of the three way dance that will take place at the pay per view. In Durham it will be Andrew Peters, Ambush, and Death battling it out for the midwestern title, but tonight it will be Peters and Ambush one on one, with the winner in all likelihood to go to March Mayhem as the titleholder in that big three-man match.

MMP Midwestern Championship Match
”AMAZING” ANDREW PETERS (C) vs. AMBUSH

With Ambush already in the ring, Peters came down the aisle with “Thunder Kiss ‘65” playing over the loudspeaker and Amanda at his side. He handed his title belt to Amanda before stepping into the ring, and Ambush was all over him right from the opening bell. The challenger caught Peters stepping through the ropes with a bodyslam, and as Peters shot back to his feet Ambush caught him in a side headlock and used the hold to take the champion to the canvas. Peters kicked out to break free from the hold and shot back to his feet, but when he came face to face with the challenger he shot a thumb up into Ambush’s eye, stopping the challenger in his tracks. The champion took full advantage, quickly backing Ambush into the corner and laying into the man with a series of backhanded chops across the chest. Ambush’s chest turned bright red from the pounding, and Peters snatched him around the head and snapmared him down to the canvas where he dropped a knee across Ambush’s forehead. He then applied a rear chinlock, a hold that bordered on a choke, wearing Ambush down while conserving his energy for later in the match. Ambush started to fight back, struggling up to one knee and throwing an elbow back into Peters’ midsection to break free from the hold. His momentum was stopped by a forearm to the back from Peters, who then hooked Ambush and took him over with a vertical suplex, dropping Ambush down in the middle of the ring. The wealthy Florida native then floated over into a pinning position, but instead of making the cover he simply started choking Ambush with his bare hands despite the fact that the referee stood only a few feet away. The official started his count and finally had to step in and pull Peters off, threatening to disqualify him if he didn’t let up. Peters reluctantly agreed, pulling Ambush up off the canvas and whipping him off the ropes. He lowered his shoulder as Ambush came back, but Ambush countered, going over the top and taking Peters down in a sunset flip for the 1…2…Peters kicked out. Peters jumped up and quickly dropped an elbow across the chest before tossing Ambush through the ropes to the floor. The champion followed, grabbing Ambush and whipping him towards the safety rail, but Ambush reversed it, sending Peters hard into the steel. The challenger then slid back into the ring and ran off the far side, diving through the ropes with a suicide dive that crushed Peters against the rail. He then tossed Peters back into the ring and waited for him to get up before going for the Shotgun! Peters wrestled his way free before Ambush could get the hold completely applied and hooked Ambush in a rear waistlock, taking him over with a German release suplex. Ambush’s head snapped back off the canvas, allowing Peters to get himself in position behind the challenger. Ambush was slow to his feet, and Peters immediately applied the Antagonizer. Ambush tried to wrestle himself free, but Peters brought the man down to the canvas, out of the reach of the ropes. The challenger tried to fight his way free from the hold, but as time wore on it became clear that Ambush was running out of options. Eventually he stopped fighting and stopped answering the referee’s queries. The official called for the bell, giving the win to Peters. While Peters was celebrating his victory, Death emerged from through the crowd with a steel chair in hand. He laid out Peters with a shot from behind, sending Amanda scurrying to the floor. Death then demanded a mic:

Death: That was just a little preview of what I’m going to do to you maggots at March Mayhem. Now onto better things, I would like to announce my withdrawal from The Cult. No more roaming around like rats with The Cult Master for me. I’ve bee in with The Cult for about two months, and what has it gotten me?? Three BIG losses at title shots. Where is the Cult Master when you need him?? Sh*ting in his ill-famed toilet throne that’s what. I’m out.

Wood: Andrew Peters is still the midwestern champion, but the bigger story here could be that Death has just quit The Cult! I know The Cult Master is backstage here tonight scouting the world title match. I wonder exactly how he’s going to respond to what has to come as a huge surprise with Death’s resignation.

Brewer: I’m surprised Death put up with Cult Master’s Koreshesque nonsense for so long. Good for him. Maybe now he’ll have his head on straight going into March Mayhem against Peters and Ambush for the midwestern title. Maybe now that he’s free from all this Cult nonsense he can finally get the job done in one of these big championship matches.

Wood: That could well be, and also Ambush will get another shot at capturing the title from Peters in a little under two weeks when we head down to Durham for our next big pay per view event. Up next is the in-ring return of a man who has been out of action for several months now. That man is The Ryno, who is set to take on a mystery opponent to be selected by his longtime rival The Joker’s Child. Let’s go back to the ring for our next contest.

THE RYNO vs. MYSTERY OPPONENT

The Ryno came to the ring first, accompanied by another returning superstar, former world champion Masochrist. Both men were wielding baseball bats as Ryno stepped into the ring. Just then “My Hero” by Foo Fighters began to play, and out came The Joker’s Child, wearing a black fur coat with his purple hair slicked back. He was smoking a cigar, and had his left arm in a cast. Following closely behind him was not only Ponch, but also the duo of Aries and Hades, both of whom were carrying lead pipes. He got in the ring and grabbed a mic:

Joker- THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I AM GLAD TO BE YOUR HERO, YOUR IDOL, YOUR GOD OF PROFFESIONAL WRESTLING.

The crowd started to boo so loudly that it drowned Joker out.

Joker- SHUT THE HELL UP. AND LET YOUR HERO SPEAK OR I AM GOING TO COME OUT THERE AND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU PEICES OF TRAILOR TRASH. NOW WYNO I HAVE A PLEASENT SURPRISE FOR YOU. I WENT BACKSTAGE AND SPOKE TO MR.UNIVERSAL CHAMPION HIM SELF AND CALLED A TROUCE WITH HIM. HE THEN OFFERED TO DEFEND HIS TITLE TO NON OTHER THEN YOU TONIGHT. SO NOW LET ME PRESSENT TO YOU YOUR CHANCE AT GOLD AGAINST NON OTHER THEN THE REGULATOR.

The Imperial March began to play and a giant spotlight came down over the entrance. Mr. Beumont, wearing Regulator’s gold battle mask and carrying Loui Slugger, came down to the ring with the Hobo Wrestling Alliance championship belt around his waist, with a piece of paper over the belt that read “universal title”. Joker, Ponch, Aries, and Hades stepped out of the ring, and Ryno went to work. He nailed Beumont with a hard knee to the midsection and then began headbutting the man, nailing him repeatedly before lifting him in the air in a double choke. The referee quickly stepped in and ordered Ryno to break. Not wanting to risk a disqualification against an opponent the caliber of Mr. Beumont Ryno released, but quickly nailed Ryno in the gut again and delivered the Ryno Charge! From there he made the cover and scored an easy 1…2…3 over Beumont to score the win.

Wood: A win for The Ryno in his return to the MMP ring, but it hardly comes against what you would call a worthy opponent. Mr. Beumont barely provided the minimum requirement of a match tonight for Ryno, who now will focus his attention on his upcoming extreme title match against Virus Richards at March Mayhem on March 22. Ray, I won’t ask you for your opinion on the match as we all know exactly what you think of the CWO, so instead I’ll just introduce our next match. It is a semi-final match in the tag team championship tournament, with the winners to advance to the PPV to face the team of The Bootlegger and Inferno for the tag titles, which have been vacant since December of last year. The number-one seeds, Benjamin Childs and George Achica, are heavy favorites tonight going in against the makeshift duo of Death and Wolverine. While Childs and Achica have a great deal of experience as a team, Death and Wolverine can barely stand one another. Frankly, I’d be surprised if they can work together long enough to make it through this match. We’re only moments away from finding out exactly what they can do, though, so we send you back to the ring.

MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Semi-Finals
BENJAMIN CHILDS & GEORGE ACHICA vs. DEATH & WOLVERINE

Childs and Achica arrived at the ring first, setting up a pair of tables on the outside before their opponents were introduced. “Welcome to the Jungle” played over the loudspeaker and Wolverine started coming down the aisle, but before he got very far he was suddenly attacked from behind…by his own tag team partner. Death came bolting down the aisle and nailed Wolverine in the back of the head with a clothesline, sending Wolverine face-first to the concrete floor. He pulled Wolverine up and started down towards the ring, but Wolverine slowed him down with a right hand to the side of the head. He then slammed Death head first into the steel ring post. While the brawl continued on the outside, Childs ran off the far ropes and George backdropped him over the top rope, sending him crashing down onto both Death and Wolverine. Death was sprawled out on the floor and Childs pulled Wolverine back into the ring. He stood Wolverine up but was stopped by a face rake. Wolverine then delivered a forearm before whipping him off the ropes and flooring Childs with a boot to the face. He reached over to make a tag, but Death wasn’t in the corner. Instead, Death was down on the arena floor. He tossed his shirt into the crowd, totally ignoring the match going on in the ring. Wolverine shouted at his opponent to turn around, but while he was distracted Childs nailed him in the back of the head with a clothesline. The blow sent Wolverine into the turnbuckle, but unfortunately for Childs Death hopped up onto the apron and made the tag with Wolverine. He stepped into the ropes and was caught with a series of shots to the back from Childs, who dragged Death across the ring and tagged in George Achica for the first time. Childs slammed Death down and George went up to the second rope from where he delivered a big splash, crushing Death against the canvas. George then grabbed Death’s limp body and pulled him into the corner, tying him upside down in a tree of woe. With Death hanging helpless from the buckle George used his boot to choke the man out, putting the full weight of his 400-pound frame behind the hold. The referee quickly stepped in to back George away, but while the official was occupied with the big man Childs jumped down to the floor and pulled backwards on Death’s head, putting even more pressure on Death’s neck. When the official saw what was going on Childs let go and tagged himself back in. George unhooked Death from the buckle, but rather than going out to the apron, he and Childs grabbed Death around the throat and delivered a double chokeslam! Just as Death hit the canvas, Wolverine came flying off the top rope in the opposite corner and nailed George in the back with a flying clothesline, sending the Samoan through the ropes to the floor. He then turned his attention to Childs, who cut Wolverine off with a hard right hand and dumped Wolverine to the outside, where he hooked up with George once again. With Wolverine and George on the outside, Childs grabbed Death and pulled him back to his feet, when suddenly Death nailed Childs with a hard kick below the belt. While Childs was doubled over, Death hooked him and delivered the Death Drop!! He quickly made the cover on Childs and scored the 1…2…3 to advance to the finals of the tournament. The celebration was short lived, though. As soon as the match was over, the Instruments of Destruction hit the ring, with Bootlegger sliding into the ring and Inferno circling the outside. A boot to the face from Inferno knocked Wolverine to the floor while Bootlegger took Death out with a shot to the back of the head with a steel pipe. Inferno then grabbed George and whipped him into the steps to keep him out of the way, and Bootlegger tossed the pipe to his partner on the outside. Rather than continuing the attack, though, Inferno simply placed the pipe in Wolverine’s hand and headed back to the dressing room with Bootlegger. Wolverine stumbled to his feet first and headed to the back. Death was up a few moments later, and when he saw the pipe in his partner’s hand, he took off running to the dressing room hot in pursuit of Wolverine.

Wood: So now it will be Death and Wolverine going on to March Mayhem to the finals of the tag team championship tournament, but at this point I would say it looks to be a wasteful venture. There’s no way that Death and Wolverine will be able to put their differences aside long enough to work through another match, let alone against a pair the caliber of The Bootlegger and Inferno.

Brewer: The Instruments of Destruction certainly seem focused on securing the belts, and they may have found the easiest path to attaining their goal. If they can drive that wedge further between their opponents, they may not even have to wrestle at the PPV. They could end up being declared the champions by default by the time we get to Durham.

Wood: And speaking of The Bootlegger, Gene Barlotta is scheduled to be in action in our next contest as he welcomes one of the newest MMP wrestlers, Controversy, to the SNS wars. This Controversy has certainly caught a lot of attention recently for his bizarre antics, but no one seems to know anything about his past in wrestling, where he has competed, who he has competed against, or anything of that sort. That will certainly be working in his favor since Bootlegger will be heading into this match with no frame of reference to prepare himself. Can Controversy use this to advantage to overcome Bootlegger’s huge experience edge? We’re about to find out.

THE BOOTLEGGER vs. CONTROVERSY

The debuting Controversy came to the ring first, wearing his customary body paint, covering him in one-half black and one-half white paint. The rookie, who was accompanied by Reverend Bob, Lolli Pop, and Angel Dust, was wearing trunks with both the American and Cuban flags on them. He slid into the ring just as his entrance music changed to “Paint it Black”, which signaled the arrival of The Bootlegger. The Bootlegger was accompanied by his one remaining ASSociate, Passion, as well as his tag team partner Inferno. Once in the ring Bootlegger called Controversy over and challenged him to a test of strength. Controversy looked him up and down, but rather than engaging Bootlegger in the test of strength he grabbed the Italian by the head and licked him, right down the middle of the face. Bootlegger staggered back and wiped his face, and with a disgusted expression on his visage, lunged forward with a knee to the midsection of his opponent. He then grabbed Controversy and slammed him down with a belly to belly suplex and dropped a knee across the forehead, taking over total control of the match. Controversy slowly climbed back to his feet, only to be taken down once again by Bootlegger, who came running across the ring and drove Controversy down with a bulldog. The Italian then slowed things down by locking the rookie in a camel clutch. Controversy reached out towards the ropes, but Bootlegger had him positioned perfectly, making it impossible for Controversy to move closer to his goal. After about a minute Bootlegger released the hold, dropping both legs down across Controversy’s back in the process. He pulled Controversy back to his feet, whipped him off the ropes, and went for a clothesline, but Controversy ducked under and dropped to his knees where he nailed Bootlegger with a low blow. The Italian doubled over and Controversy jumped on the man’s back, digging his teeth deep into the back of Bootlegger’s neck. The referee was quick to intervene and pull Controversy off, prompting Lolli Pop to jump into the ring, arguing passionately with the official’s decision. The ref defended his position, and Lolli Pop grabbed him by the head, pulled him in, and laid a big kiss on him. In the meantime Bootlegger had taken back over the match, nailing Controversy with a vertical suplex. He then grabbed Lolli Pop and shoved her out of the ring, down to the floor at the feet of Angel Dust, who looked up at Bootlegger with a tear in her eye. Bootlegger looked back with a repulsed expression on his face, making a mocking tongue motion towards the would-be ASSociate. Controversy was back to his feet by this time, but when he saw Lolli Pop lying hurt on the floor, he simply collapsed to his knees, letting out a painful yell. “Oh woe is me!” he proclaimed as he went down, his head in his hands. Bootlegger looked down curiously at the man, who now lay motionless save for some quiet sobbing. Unsure of what to do, Bootlegger put his right foot down on Controversy’s chest, and the ref got down to make the 1…2…3.

Wood: The Bootlegger is your winner, although under some very strange circumstances, here on Saturday Night Slams over Controversy. The rookie certainly lived up to his name in that outing. I’m not quite sure what to make of this man, Ray.

Brewer: Nobody is, Wood. I’ve never seen anyone who behaves quite like this guy, and that could really help him here in the MMP. There are a lot of guys who do the same thing, or at least fight with very similar styles. If Controversy can keep everyone guessing, he’ll have a huge advantage as he tries to work his way up the rankings here.

Wood: That’s a very good point, Ray. If you don’t know what to expect from your opponent, there’s a limit to how much preparation you can do for your match, which would play right into Controversy’s hands. Well folks, it’s time for our main event. The MMP world championship is at stake. Virus Richards defends the belt against the number-one ranked contender, the reigning universal champion The Regulator, up next on Saturday Night Slams!

MMP World Championship Match
VIRUS RICHARDS (C) vs. THE REGULATOR

Before either man came to the ring, The Joker’s Child made his way down the aisle and joined Wood and Brewer for commentary. The Imperial March played over the loudspeaker and emerald green lights flashed in the entrance way, but rather than The Regulator coming to the ring it was Mr. Beumont making his way out, again dressed in a full Regulator outfit. This time the real Regulator didn’t sit idly by and allow the charade to go on, and he came running out from the back and nailed Beumont from behind with a clothesline to the back of the head. He started to stomp on Beumont before reaching down to grab the mask and bat away from the impostor. Unfortunately for Regulator, though, Virus came down the aisle at the same time and attacked the challenger from behind, forcing him to drop the bat and mask in the aisle. Beumont grabbed the items and hurried away while Virus pounded on Reg, slamming him into the ring steps before rolling him under the bottom rope to get the match underway. Virus followed quickly but walked right into a rake of the face from his opponent, which Reg followed up with a short armdrag takedown. The challenger then dropped an elbow across the sternum before pulling Virus up and delivering a German release suplex. Regulator was in total control early on, and though Virus tried to roll out to the floor, Regulator wasn’t about to let him escape. He grabbed the world champ and set him in an armbar before running towards the ropes and slingshotting himself over, snapping Virus’ arm across the top rope. The champ fell back towards the center of the ring clutching his arm in pain, but just as Regulator hit the floor he was nailed with a running clothesline from Joker’s Child, who had been doing commentary throughout the early part of the match. Reg went down hard after taking the blow to the head from the cast on Joker’s arm, although Joker acted as though he had taken the worst of the encounter, acting as is his arm had been injured. While Regulator was pulling himself up Aries and Hades came running out from the back and attacked Regulator, taking instructions from Joker’s Child as their assault continued. The referee, who clearly saw what was happening on the floor, called for the bell and awarded the match to Regulator by disqualification. The crowd booed loudly at the decision and littered the ring with trash to show their disapproval.

The camera then cut to a shot backstage, where Death was walking out of the arena after advancing to the finals of the tag team championship tournament. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he was floored with a giant forearm to the back of the head. The Destroyer then appeared on the scene, the owner of the forearm, and began hammering on the fallen Death. Within seconds a second man, The Cult Master, joined in on the attack. The two men continued kicking away at Death as the screen fades to black.
