MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
THE BOOTLEGGER & “STUNNING” STEVE SIMON vs. INTOXICATED

OOC: This match never took place and was ruled a no contest as a result of neither team submitting a strategy. Both teams will be credited with a draw in the standings.

MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
HOT CRIMSON & HASSAN ABU SAADA vs. THE ORDER

”Welcome to the Machine” played over the loudspeaker as three members of The Organization – Hot Crimson and The Order – made their way to the ring, without Hassan Abu Saada. They all stepped inside, and as soon as the bell rang Crimson laid down in the middle of the ring, allowing Dragonfly to make the cover for the three count. The trio then walked back to the locker room without saying a word.

MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
HARBINGER & THE DESTROYER vs. THE DOMINION OF DOOM

Daark opened the match for The Dominion of Doom, but Harbinger and Destroyer showed no mercy in taking the fight to their close ally. Harbinger, strongly motivated by his desire to recapture the tag team championship, unleashed a flurry of martial arts kicks on the reigning MMP world champion in the corner before tagging in Destroyer. The big man kept the fight coming, delivering a backbreaker and a powerbomb before locking on the Will Breaker. Daark quickly surrendered, possibly looking to conserve strength for his world title defense later in the evening. Harbinger and Destroyer were victorious, and as a result captured first place in the round robin portion of the tournament.

MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 fans are jam-packed into the MMP Coliseum for tonight’s huge event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.

Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I’m Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight, less than 24 hours before the MMP heads overseas for Invasion coming up on Wednesday night in Munich, we have a huge MMP world championship main event live from the MMP Coliseum! Daark, the reigning champion, puts the belt on the line against the current MMP extreme champion, Cartel member Virus Richards.

Brewer: With the match against The Bootlegger only a few days away, you have to question the wisdom of Daark putting off his mandatory title defense until tonight. He’s had weeks to defend the championship, but he hasn’t done so. Now it looks like his back is against the wall, as he has to face two of the top stars ever to pass through the Midwestern Mayhem Promotion in less than one week’s time. I would be very surprised if Daark still holds the title by the time we take to the air next weekend.

Wood: I’m inclined to agree, Ray, things are definitely stacked against the world champ. If he’s going to survive over the next seven days, he’s going to have to dig way down and maybe hope that a little luck is on his side as well. I have a feeling we’re going to find out exactly what Daark is made of over the next few days. We’ve also got a television championship match on tap tonight, as new champion The Destroyer defends against Wolverine. Inferno takes on Hyoga in a PPV warm-up match for both men, but we kick things off tonight with two men still looking for that one big victory to propel them into the title hunt here in the MMP. “Amazing” Andrew Peters takes on The Dragonfly in out opening contest.

”AMAZING” ANDREW PETERS vs. THE DRAGONFLY

”Thunder Kiss ‘65” played over the loudspeaker as “Amazing” Andrew Peters made his way down to the ring, accompanied by Amanda. As usual several screams of admiration were sent Amanda’s way, but one fan in particular seemed to draw the ire of Peters, who did not take kindly to the young man whistling at his manager. Peters stopped in the runway to berate the fan, but while his back was turned The Dragonfly came running out from the back and nailed Peters with a spear from behind, sending him chest first into the steel safety rail. Hot Crimson and Tao Te Ching came down the aisle as Dragonfly dragged Peters down to the ring and rolled him in under the bottom rope. Before Peters could pull himself up Dragonfly was in the ring, and he immediately started his attack on Peters’ left knee, stomping down on the kneecap and kicking at the leg as Peters struggled towards the ropes to help himself to his feet. Peters countered with a thumb to the eye once he had gotten to his feet, but his clothesline attempt was ducked by Dragonfly, who slid under his opponent’s feet with a baseball slide. Dragonfly shot back up, but walked right into Peters’ arms and was slammed to the canvas with a belly-to-belly suplex! Peters began stomping on Dragonfly’s head before he pulled the man up and whipped him into the corner. He then delivered several hard chops against the chest and reached his boot up, pressing it against Dragonfly’s throat in an obvious chokehold. The ref started his count, but before he reached five Dragonfly broke the hold by aiming a pair of kicks at Peters’ plant leg, forcing Peters to release the hold in order to maintain his balance. Dragonfly then reached down and tripped Peters’ legs out from under him, isolating his left knee by draping the leg across the bottom rope and driving repeated kneedrops across the joint. Peters grabbed his leg in pain as the ref backed Dragonfly away, but Dragonfly didn’t slow down. He dragged Peters out towards the middle of the ring by his bad leg, twisting the knee and dropping an elbow across the joint. Dragonfly stood up and wrenched the knee again, but this time Peters reached up and snatched him around the head, rolling Dragonfly into a small package for the 1..2…Dragonfly kicked out and shot to his feet, but he was taken right off his feet by a running clothesline from Peters, who was getting a second wind. Dragonfly rolled out of the ring and paced around the outside to try and catch his breath, but Peters quickly followed him, forcing Dragonfly back quickly back in. Peters followed, but Dragonfly was already back on his feet, allowing him to go back to work with more stomps on the knee as Peters rolled back in. Dragonfly then pulled Peters up and lifted him in a suplex, but Peters flowed over and landed on his feet behind Dragonfly, where he immediately hooked the Organization member in the Antagonizer! He wrestled Dragonfly to the canvas, and after a few moments Dragonfly had no choice but to tap out, giving the victory to “Amazing” Andrew Peters. The celebration was short lived, though, as as soon as the bell sounded Hot Crimson was in the ring. He waited for Peters to turn and face him, and when he did he was met with a hard boot to the midsection and Crimson's double-arm DDT. The Organization walked out together as Amanda checked on Peters.

Wood: Another victory for “Amazing” Andrew Peters, who is starting to put a streak together after a couple of back-to-back wins on our weekly programs, over Hyoga last week and tonight over The Dragonfly. Peters certainly has momentum on his side going into his Invasion match against Izz Amazing, although one has to wonder what effect that post-match attack from Hot Crimson will have on Peters' condition.

Brewer: It’s being billed as an “Amazing” vs. Amazing match, with both men putting their right to use the name Amazing as their monicker in the MMP. The name of both wrestlers is at stake, and I can only imagine what kind of bragging rights would go along with being the man to take away the other man’s right to his very identity.

Wood: That’s just one of a number of highly anticipated matches we’ve got lined up for our first ever trip to Europe, and our first PPV event to originate from outside North America coming up this Wednesday night from Die Sporthalle in Munich, Germany. Another match that could have an impact on Invasion is coming up next, with Inferno and Hyoga going one-on-one. Neither man has found a lot of success in recent weeks, and with both guys set to go into Invasion – Inferno against The Cult Master in a lumberjack match and Hyoga against Ambush – both men will need a win here tonight to try and get some momentum behind them as they head over to Germany. Let’s go back to the ring.

INFERNO vs. HYOGA

The fiery phoenix blazed overhead as Inferno made his entrance into the arena. He didn’t make it far, though, as Hyoga came running out almost immediately and blasted Inferno across the back with a fire extinguisher! Inferno went down like a ton of bricks, but luckily for him the referee came running up the aisle and ordered Hyoga to break of his attack with the weapon or risk disqualification. Hyoga complied, and quickly dragged Inferno down towards the ring. Inferno pulled himself up with the aid of the ropes, but was quickly cut back down by a series of quick kicks to the legs by the man from Switzerland. Hyoga then hooked Inferno’s leg in a 90-degree position and lifted him in the air, dropping him down in a kneebreaker and letting the Cartel member fall unceremoniously back into the corner. Once there Hyoga moved in and reached his boot up, pressing it hard against Inferno’s throat, choking the big man right in front of the referee. Again the ref had to step in on Hyoga, and again Hyoga complied with the instructions. Inferno stumbled out trying to catch his breath, enabling Hyoga to lock him in a sleeperhold. Hyoga looked to have the match in control, but out of nowhere Inferno reached back, grabbed Hyoga by the hair, and flung him over his head. Hyoga landed flat on his back but shot back to his feet, only to be floored by a big running clothesline from Inferno. Inferno was all over Hyoga, stomping him repeatedly on the back of the head as Hyoga tried to pull himself together. The big man then grabbed Hyoga and whipped him across the ring into the turnbuckle before charging in with a big avalanche. Hyoga moved out of the way, though, and Inferno caught nothing but buckle. He staggered out towards the center of the ring where Hyoga brought him down with a drop toehold. Hyoga then applied a submission hold, standing on the back of Inferno’s legs while pulling back on the Cartel member’s chin. After a few moments with the hold applied Hyoga released it, feeling that Inferno was softened up for some higher impact offensive moves. He positioned the big man for a piledriver, but Inferno countered the move with a backdrop, sending Hyoga high overhead before dropping him to the canvas. Inferno then snatched Hyoga and lifted him into a fireman’s carry, dropping him throat first across the top rope. Hyoga stumbled back clutching his throat, and walked right into an Inferno powerslam, which was followed by an elbowdrop across the sternum. Inferno then pulled Hyoga up and whipped him off the ropes, catching him on the rebound with a boot to the face that nearly took Hyoga’s head off. Clearly Hyoga was ripe for the picking, and Inferno knew it as well as anyone. He confidently pulled Hyoga up one more time and positioned him for the All Nighter. He spun Hyoga in the air, but as he went to drive him down Hyoga grabbed him by the hair and drove him face first into the canvas. Both men were down and both were slow to get up. When they did it was Hyoga getting the advantage, grabbing Inferno in position for a chokeslam. Inferno, though, broke Hyoga’s grasp with the Elder’s Vengeance heart punch, and quickly set him up for the All Nighter once again. This time he delivered the move perfectly and was able to make the cover for the victory.

Wood: A big win for Inferno here tonight on Saturday Night Slams. Now we’ll see if he can carry any of that momentum over to Wednesday night when he faces The Cult Master, in what should be an oustanding matchup.

Brewer: And as for Hyoga, he’s going to have to put this match behind him if he hopes to have any chance against Ambush at Invasion. Hyoga’s been winless since returning to action, and he’s got a tough opponent lined up against him at the PPV. The one thing I can think of that might give Hyoga an advantage is the fact that he is a native European, and has probably made the long overseas flight many times in the past, thus reducing the jetlag factor that is likely to plague a lot of the MMP superstars. With Hyoga bordering on being in a slump, he’s going to need any advantage he can get.

Wood: That’s a good point, Ray. It’ll be interesting to see how the time difference and the short adjustment period impacts the performance of some of the wrestlers this week. I’m sure it will be tough, but given how pumped up these guys are for a card that big, I don’t know if it will be that big of a factor. The first of our two title matches is up next, as The Destroyer prepares to make his first defense of the TV title against former champion Wolverine. This will be Wolverine’s first opportunity to regain the belt he lost back in November, and knowing that if things go his way he could wind up with a crack at the world title over in Munich, I’m sure he’s been in the gym even more than usual over the past week. Destroyer is no small challenge, though, and I can guarantee you he’ll give Wolverine all he can handle. Let’s go back to the ring.

MMP Television Championship Match
THE DESTROYER (C) vs. WOLVERINE

Destroyer came to the ring first with Harbinger, carrying the MMP TV title belt proudly over his shoulder. Wolverine, though, didn’t want to wait for the match to start, and attacked both men in the aisle, delivering a double clothesline to both men as they walked down the aisle. Harbinger went down but the near 500-pound Destroyer only stumbled forward, dropping the belt to the ground but not leaving his feet. He turned and met Wolverine with a right hand, and the two men traded punches all the way down to the ring. Wolverine rolled in first, but this enabled him to get to his feet before Destroyer. He took full advantage, catching Destroyer with a kick to the midsection followed by an uppercut to stand the man upright once more and a clothesline that backed him into the ropes. Wolverine then grabbed the man, whipped him off the far side, and went for a backdrop. Destroyer blocked it though, and pulled Wolverine into a piledriver. Wolverine rolled off clutching the back of his neck but Destroyer, who was still winded from the earlier assault, was slow in following up. As Harbinger made his way towards the ring with Destroyer’s TV title belt in hand, the champion started stomping away on the challenger. He dropped an elbow across the back before pulling Wolverine up and delivering a sidewalk slam and making the cover. Wolverine kicked out after two, but it was clear that the challenger was feeling the effects of the punishing attack from the much larger challenger. Destroyer went for a belly-to-belly suplex, and it was only a last-minute thumb to the eyes from Wolverine that saved him from being slammed once again. The champ staggered back towards the ropes and Wolverine delivered a running clothesline, sending both men over the top to the floor. Both men were slow getting to their feet, much to the delight of one particular old man in the front row, who stood up and started shouting insults towards Wolverine. The referee shouted at the two men to get back in the ring, but those warnings were ignored by Wolverine, who delivered a kneelift into the back of the champion, sending him head first into the steel post. When the official came out to check on Destroyer, the old man in the front row jumped over the guardrail and nailed Wolverine in the back with his cane! Wolverine went down hard and the old man tossed his disguise aside, revealing the old man as being Death! Death stood proudly over Wolverine but his celebration was short lived as The Regulator came running out from the back and ran Death into the ring steps from behind. The two Invasion opponents then battled up the runway back to the dressing room as Wolverine pushed Destroyer back into the ring. The challenger climbed to the top rope and delivered a flying tackle. Destroyer didn’t go down, but a swinging neckbreaker from Wolverine finally did put the man down. With things well in hand Wolverine pulled Destroyer back to his feet, but made the crucial mistake of trying to lift the man into a standing backbreaker. Wolverine couldn’t get the man up, and had thrown his back out in the process. Destroyer quickly took advantage and nailed Wolverine with a powerbomb before slapping on the Will Breaker. Wolverine refused to give up for a long time, but the pain eventually became too much and he had to tap out, allowing Destroyer the victory in his first title defense.

Wood: So The Destroyer is still the MMP television champion, and will now go on to Invasion to defend the belt against another former titleholder, one of the finest TV champions in MMP history, “Stunning” Steve Simon in one of three matches that will pit The Cult and The Cartel head-to-head. We could finally get an answer as to who truly is the dominant stable in the MMP when we get to Munich.

Brewer: The banter has been going back and forth between the two sides for months now, and it’s time to finally see who the strongest side is. Bootlegger faces Daark, Inferno meets The Cult Master, and Simon battles The Destroyer. It should all be settled on Wednesday night.

Wood: As for Wolverine, he is set to face Virus Richards in a Street Fight for the MMP extreme championship on Wednesday night. In a few moments, we will find out if that match will also be for the MMP world championship. That title is on the line next, as Daark defends against Virus with the winner to go to Germany as champion. It’s main event time here on Saturday Night Slams!

MMP World Championship Match
DAARK (C) vs. VIRUS RICHARDS

Daark charged Virus right at the opening bell but the challenger ducked away from the attack and catching Daark with a chop block to the back of the leg. Daark went down hard, and Virus had the target he wanted early on. He grabbed the leg and wrenched the knee joint twice before dropping an elbow across the leg and dragging Daark over to the ropes. Once there he set the leg on the second rope and delivered a pair of vertical splashes across the knee, continuing the assault until the referee stepped in and ordered a break because Daark was in the ropes. Virus seemed confused and started arguing with the referee while Daark pulled himself together. The challenger, seeing that Daark was up, patted the ref on the shoulder and told him he’d get the hang of the officiating gig before long, and went back after his opponent. He attempted a superkick, but Daark ducked out of the way and Virus caught nothing but air. Acting quick on his feet Virus immediately went for a second superkick with the other leg. This one connected, hitting Daark in the back of the head. The champion went down hard, clutching the back of his head in obvious pain. Seeing his opportunity Virus jumped to the top rope and dove off with his frog splash, which caught Daark flush across the chest. He made the cover and hooked the leg for the 1…2…3!! Virus Richards is the new MMP world champion!! The ref presented Virus with both belts, which he held high in the air in the center of the ring as the screen fades to black.
