MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
THE BOOTLEGGER & “STUNNING” STEVE SIMON vs. MASKED MENACE X & WOLVERINE
Wolverine started out the match against Bootlegger, taking the Italian to the canvas where he worked on Boot’s leg. After dropping a couple of quick elbows Wolverine tagged MMX in, who continued the attack by stomping on Bootlegger. He pulled Bootlegger up and delivered a short clothesline followed by a snap suplex. MMX then reached around and tagged Wolverine back in, but while the exchange was being made Bootlegger lunged over and tagged Simon. Simon ran in but was immediately scooped up and slammed by Wolverine, who then dropped a leg across the sternum. MMX then came in and helped double team Simon. Bootlegger came in to try and break it up, but while the referee was keeping him out MMX and Wolverine whipped Simon off the ropes and delivered a double backdrop. Wolverine then pulled Simon up and whipped him into the corner as MMX stepped out of the ring to the apron. Once the ref had ushered Bootlegger to the outside he turned back to see Wolverine and MMX make another exchange, with MMX climbing to the top rope. Wolverine lifted Simon in a piledriver and MMX jumped off the top, grabbing Simon’s legs and spiking him into the canvas. Again Bootlegger came in, but this time it was Wolverine cutting him off. The two men traded punches back and forth, before a Bootlegger clothesline put both men over the top to the floor. With the brawl continuing on the outside, MMX pulled Simon up and hooked the X-Plex for the three count.
MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
THE ORDER vs. INTOXICATED
The Order came to the ring with Hot Crimson and stood back in the corner as Intoxicated came out. The two CWO members came out to grunge music and wearing Marilyn Manson t-shirts, and slam-danced their way down the aisle. When they got in the ring Beumont and Cup bounced off the ropes and slammed into one another, but neither man was able to handle the impact. They both staggered back into their opponents. Tao superkicked Beumont through the ropes to the floor while Dragonfly floored Cup with a dropkick. Dragonfly then shot up to the top rope and, before Cup could recover, he nailed Cooper with the Awakening. With Tao keeping Beumont occupied on the floor, Dragonfly made the cover for the three count.
MMP Tag Team Championship Tournament – Round Robin Match
HASSAN ABU SAADA & HOT CRIMSON vs. HARBINGER & THE DESTROYER
Cult minions escorted Harbinger and Destroyer to the ring, and the former tag champs didn’t waste any time in hooking up with their opponents from The Organization. Crimson and Harbinger hooked up while, on the other side, the two big men who would meet at Daark Ages traded punches back and forth. Harbinger raked and clawed at Harbinger, but in the meantime Destroyer had the upper hand on Hassan, pounding him with right hands in the corner. The referee tried desperately to maintain order in the match, but neither team would listen to his instructions. Destroyer nailed a shoulderblock to the midsection of the universal champion in the corner before dumping the Egyptian out to the floor. He started to follow Hassan out, but turned and saw Crimson rake Harbinger’s face and deliver a double-arm DDT. He rolled Harbinger over and made the cover for the 1…2…Destroyer kicked Crimson in the back of the head to break the count. He then pulled Crimson up and nailed a powerbomb. Destroyer then made a cover as Hassan started back into the ring, but Harbinger was there to cut him off. The ref counted three, giving The Cult the win.
MMP Saturday Night Slams is on the air! More than 15, 000 fans are jammed into the MMP Coliseum for tonight’s event. Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Saturday Night Slams! I’m Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer for tonight’s abbreviated telecast, which will feature three huge match-ups! Our main event is one of the biggest matches in terms of numbers that we have ever seen on SNS – a four corners, twelve-man tag team match pitting members of The Cartel, The Cult, The Organization, and Menace to Society all meeting head-on to determine just who is the top faction in the MMP.
Brewer: There will also be a universal championship match here at the Coliseum, again pitting two of these groups head-to-head. Death, the newest member of The Cult, will look to bring the belt back into the fold for The Cult Master’s men when he challenges the leader of The Organization, Hassan Abu Saada. Hassan has been struggling over the past couple of weeks with losses against The Bootlegger and Daark, but tonight will be the first time the belt has been on the line. The pressure is on, we’ll see how Hassan handles it.
Wood: We kick things off tonight as we try to get some insight into the identity of the mysterious “Golden One”. We saw him trying to interfere in the Psychotic Sam vs. Wolverine extreme title match last week, only to be thwarted by a chair-wielding Joker’s Child. Tonight Sam meets The Golden One in singles competition, the title not on the line. Let’s go to the ring for our opening contest!
PSYCHOTIC SAM vs. THE GOLDEN ONE
Two security men wheeled Sam down to the ring on his cart, with Sam wearing the extreme title belt around his waist and holding Marbels the Cat in his hands. As soon as he was released from the cart he rolled over and sat in the corner, rocking back and forth, talking to his cat. The lights in the arena then went out and The Imperial March began to play. The Regulator, clad in his wrestling attire of a referee’s shirt and a white battle mask, made his way out. He stopped at the entrance and pointed back to the dressing room as the music changed to The Anvil of Crom. Out from the back came Inferno, another member of the group known as The Shadowlords. Regulator entered the ring with a mic in hand while the other two circled the ring.
REG: Sammy, you were going to receive a gift from me last Saturday, but a certain bastard had to interrupt. So now you get a different present.
Inferno climbed in the ring from behind and nailed Sam in the back of the head with a lead pipe. He stomped Sam repeatedly and slammed the pipe into his back as Regulator continued.
REG: Now who says Scottie ain't main event material.
Regulator gives Inferno some mild, golf-style applause before continuing.
REG: Now for all you shmoes out there that say, I didn't win the match,.... WHO CARES?! It's not about winning or losing, it about who's walking out of the ring up the ramp…
Before Regulator could finish, Joker’s Child came running down the aisle with a chair in hand, followed by Ponch and the CWO. Regulator and Inferno cut them off in the runway, and a huge brawl filled the ringside area. Sam eventually joined in as well, and the brawl continued all the way back to the dressing room. Sam was eventually announced as the winner by disqualification.
The cameras followed the action into the back, where it was broken up by a joint effort of security and MMP referees. Down the hall, a loud commotion could be heard. Once the brawl had been halted, the camera headed down the corridor to catch the trail end of an argument taking place at the Menace to Society dressing room.
Officer: Now remember X... we will be back to pick you up immediately after SNS. And the every possible exit in this joint is guarded so don't even think of trying to run.
MMX: Do I look stupid to you? I have been wrongly accused of a crime.. a serious one at that. The last thing I want to do is give you people reason to think this injustice is actually true.
MMX slammed the dressing room door as the officers walked out. Just moments after the officers left, the dressing room door was kicked open by a large man dressed all in black and wearing a black mask. He was followed in by Joker’s Child, the CWO, and Ponch, who started attacking Menace to Society! Ponch and the CWO swarmed around Wolverine, Joker attacked MMX and the big man in black went right for Carnage with a lead pipe. The referees, still close behind The Family after breaking up their brawl with Regulator and Inferno, rushed in and were again required to break up an altercation.
Wood: Words of warning for Masked Menace X, who many people believe should not even be allowed to compete here tonight after the charges that were brought against him by the federal government. But, as everyone in the arena tonight can tell you, this place is swarming with federal marshals to ensure that everything runs smoothly as it pertains to MMX. The return of The Regulator here tonight, Ray. That has to come as a surprise to you.
Brewer: No, not really, Wood. Onyx Cooper and I have always had a good professional relationship, a certain understanding about how things should be done. I had a feeling that it was only a matter of time before we saw him back in the MMP. Looks like we could finally get to see a conclusive showdown between The Regulator and The Family that we have been looking forward to for quite some time. The Family wants to perpetrate cowardly attacks backstage out of desperation to get noticed? Well, I’m sure Regulator will have something to say about that.
Wood: The universal title will be on the line coming up momentarily. The belt has almost become as prestigious a championship as the world title, and over the years has proven to be the most difficult title to capture. Fewer men have held the universal championship than any other title in the MMP. Hassan Abu Saada is the reigning champion, but he comes into tonight on a bit of a losing streak, still looking to secure his first victory in one-on-one competition of the new year. His challenger tonight will be Death, the newest member of The Cult, and a man who will be looking to take advantage of Hassan’s recent woes en route to claiming his first title here in the MMP. Let’s go to the ring!
MMP Universal Championship Match
HASSAN ABU SAADA (C) vs. DEATH
Death came to the ring first, his face painted with a new white skull design symbolic of his new affiliation with The Cult. The new alliance was further illustrated by the fact that Death had new backup for his match with Hassan, in the form of the former MMP tag team champions, Harbinger and The Destroyer. When the trio arrived at ringside, though, the referee immediately stepped in and ordered Harbinger and Destroyer back to the dressing room, telling all three men that he was not going to allow another situation like had occurred in the previous match to take place. Realizing the importance of this match for The Cult the two men complied and left the ringside area. Hassan Abu Saada then made his way down, alone, but with his golden scepter in hand. He was also wearing golden sanitation gloves as he stepped through the ropes. Death wasn’t about to wait for the bell to get the match underway, and he attacked Hassan as soon as the big man had entered the ring. He delivered chop after chop, striking the chest of Hassan with incredible force. Hassan, though, responded in kind, and hit Death with a series of chops of his own, matching his opponent blow for blow. It was Hassan who ultimately gained the upper hand, backing Death into the corner. After driving a knee into his opponent’s midsection to double him over, Hassan hooked Death’s head and neck and suplexed him out, slamming him down hard to the canvas in the middle of the ring. Death reached behind and grabbed his back in pain while Hassan stalked him. The champ reached down and started to pull Death up, but changed his mind in mid-move and dropped Death back to the mat. He then got down on his knees next to Death and wrapped both his hands around the challenger’s throat, violently choking the man as he lay flat on his back. The official was quick to intervene, administering a five count on Hassan before physically breaking the hold by grabbing the champion’s arms from behind and pulling him off. Hassan was enraged at being touched the referee and shot quickly around, getting right in the ref’s face and ordering him not to interfere in the match again. The ref shouted back that he would disqualify Hassan if Hassan ignored his warnings again. Rather than becoming engaged in a long exchange Hassan turned back to Death and started to pull him back to his feet, but Death managed to connect with a headbutt to the midsection, forcing Hassan to take a couple steps back. A second headbutt doubled Hassan over and allowed Death to set the big man up and, incredibly, take him over with a vertical suplex. The strength required to pull of such a move took a lot out of Death, but the challenger still managed to pull himself together. He walked over to Hassan and stomped the Egyptian as he pulled himself up with the aid of the ropes. The boots to the back from Death slowed Hassan, but the big man was still able to get to his feet. When he did, though, Death caught him with a hard kick to the back of the leg, staggering Hassan just enough to let Death walk him out towards the middle of the ring and take him down with a Russian legsweep. Death then ran off the far ropes for momentum and nailed Hassan with a crushing legdrop across the sternum. He made the cover, but Hassan kicked out just before the ref’s hand could strike the canvas for the third time. Displeased with the speed of the count Death then started to argue with the referee, while Hassan rolled away, moving towards the ropes. The champion pulled himself up, but when he had Death broke away from the ref and nailed a running clothesline, sending both Death and Hassan over the top rope to the floor. Death picked up the pace on the outside, grabbing Hassan by the back of the head and slamming him face-first into the steel ring post. He then walked over to the timekeeper’s table and grabbed a chair. The referee was now out standing on the apron administering the ten count. Death held the chair overhead and walked towards Hassan. Just as he went to slam the chair down across the champion’s back, the official reached down and pulled the chair away, tossing it aside. He shouted at Death to get the match back in the ring, but before Death could respond Hassan was up and nailed the challenger with a kick to the midsection. Before Death could catch his breath Hassan slammed him head-first into the steel steps and then rolled him under the bottom rope back into the ring. Death stumbled back to his feet and towards the far ropes, where Hassan again caught up to him. He whipped Death off the far side and caught him coming back in with a big boot to the face. Death went down hard and tried to roll out of the ring to recover, but before he could Hassan grabbed him and pulled him back to the middle of the ring where he applied a camel clutch. Hassan sat back, putting the full force of his 400-plus pound frame down on Death’s neck and back. Death tried to reach out for the ropes, but he couldn’t reach them. At the same time, Hassan’s weight was too much for Death to try and pull. He fought the hold for as long as he could, but eventually realized he couldn’t break the hold and had no choice but to tap out. The ref called for the bell, awarding the match to Hassan Abu Saada. The Egyptian snatched his belt away from the referee as Hot Crimson and The Order made their way out to congratulate their master on his victory.
Wood: A huge victory tonight for Hassan Abu Saada, who finally snaps that losing streak of his and records his first win in singles competition of the new year. That’s a huge burden for Hassan to alleviate tonight, as he’s got a huge challenge ahead of him at Daark Ages in Minneapolis when he’ll face another member of The Cult, that of course being the giant known as The Destroyer.
Brewer: That match at Daark Ages is going to be a brutal affair, there’s no doubt about that. Both men are well over seven feet tall, well over four hundred pounds. And with the increasing tension between the different factions in the MMP and with the universal championship at stake, well, it won’t be pretty when we get to the Target Center.
Wood: No, I don’t imagine it will be. But speaking of things that won’t be pretty, it’s time for our main event here on Saturday Night Slams. Twelve men representing four different groups – The Cartel, The Cult, The Organization, and Menace to Society – all doing battle in one ring in one match, all at the same time. Only one team will emerge victorious tonight, and that side will have earned the right to call their group the top outfit in the MMP. We’re ready for our main event on SNS!
Four Corners Match
VIRUS RICHARDS, ARIES & INFERNO vs. THE CULT MASTER, HARBINGER & THE DESTROYER vs. HOT CRIMSON & THE ORDER vs. MASKED MENACE X, WOLVERINE & CARNAGE
MMX, Wolverine, Carnage, and The Cult were all waiting in the ring when Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine” blared over the loudspeaker. Hot Crimson and The Order made their way down, and immediately became engaged in a heated argument with the other two groups. The nine men in the ring couldn’t even wait for the bell, and a huge brawl started even before the last team could be introduced. The Cartel then made their way down, but stopped just before getting to ringside, watching and laughing as the other three groups battled it out in the ring. Then, suddenly, the action in the ring stopped. All nine men who had been involved in the action seemed to look simultaneously out to the men on the floor, and they all climbed out of the ring and attacked Virus and Inferno in the aisle. Aries backed away and stood back near the entrance as The Cult, The Organization, and Menace to Society pounded Virus and Inferno. With Aries standing with his back to the entrance, The Joker’s Child made his way out with a steel chair. He walked up to Aries, but rather than attacking him, he reached into his pocket and handed Aries a mask, identifying Aries as the big man who had helped The Family in their attack earlier in the evening. Aries then walked down and joined in on the attack, paying particular attention to Virus. He slammed Virus into the ringpost before rolling him into the ring, where the others had since dragged Inferno. Crimson nailed Inferno with a double arm DDT while Destroyer grabbed Virus and delivered an inverted chokeslam. Both men made covers and scored simultaneous three counts. Once the match was over, MMX demanded a mic:
MMX: Well, Well, Well... what is the matter Mr. Richards. It seems we all have out smarted you and your team of has-beens. Allow me to introduce what I like to call... S.A.C. Which quite simply stands for Stables Against the Cartel. What does this mean you wash-ups are asking yourselfs. It means... that No one is going to put up with The Cartel's BullSh!t. The Cult master, Hassan and Myself have come to an agreement that we are not going to let The Cartel try to succeed in where the Syndicate failed... and that is total control. OH and I know somehow it was your doing that I was framed for these acts of terrorism. Let me assure you. This will not stop me at seeing through to you never taking control.
MMX then passed the mic to Crimson.
Hot Crimson: We dismiss criminal operation to abide in my masters federation. Whatever the Cartel may proclaim of...it is entirely LIES! They function through existence by cheating, rely on each-other for power, they cannot depend on themselves. They sicken me more than coagulated blood dried from a corpse, wasted, and fruitless. Let this serve as a keepsake to the Cartel, and any hereafter association that decrees to cheat their way through each Saturday Night event! And I presume that the fans present in New York would acknowledge with what I have to convey.
Aries and Joker’s Child, who had been watching from the runway, headed back to the dressing room. The nine men stood triumphant over Virus and Inferno as the screen fades to black.
