Captain Patrick O'Conner was born on February 25, 1969 at the family
compound on Ambergris Caye, Belize. Young Patrick's upbringing was an
interesting one, divided equally between scholastic studies, the martial
arts and learning of his Celtic past. At the age of 14 he was the junior
champion of North America in both Tae Kwon Do and Judo. Two years later
he was accepted as a student at Oxford University. While attending the
University Patrick became involved in the club fighting scene, mostly
out of boredom. By his senior year Patrick had become a pit fighter of
some renown and was enjoying his newfound notoriety. Unfortunately
Oxford officials didn't and expelled O'Conner when he refused to quit.
O'Conner returned home to his disappointed father who had pulled some
considerable strings to get Patrick admitted to O.C.S. in the United
States Navy (Patrick maintained dual citizenship as his mother was an
American). O'Conner flourished in O.C.S., here was a place where a man
could be both physical and intellectual. He asked for and received a
commission in the SEALs program. O'Conner left the SEALs after his six
year enlistment with the rank of Captain. His parents had died in a
small plane wreck and it was time for O'Conner to take his place at the
helm of O'Conner Enterprises. After a short time Patrick missed the
martial part of his life and began to compete in UFC tournaments, much
to the chagrin of his opponents. As the UFC began to lose it's
popularity O'Conner looked for another venue to participate in. The MMP,
an up and coming professional wrestling federation at the time, offered
the Captain a contract which he readily accepted.
MMP Career History
Captain Patrick O’Conner arrived in the MMP amidst very little fanfare in October 1998. He was one of a large group of rookies, a group that also included John Korso and The Bootlegger, who joined the company within a short span of time, but O’Conner quickly established himself apart from the pack. He dominated his first few opponents and caught the wrestling world’s attention when, after only about a month of competition, he won the huge interpromotional battle royal at MMP/GWF Best of the Best. This match would be O’Conner’s first meeting with The Ryno, a man who’s path O’Conner would cross many times during his career. After eliminating Ryno to win the battle royal, he defeated Ryno again in the rematch held on Saturday Night Slams, capturing Ryno’s universal championship in the process. O’Conner would add another championship before the end of 1998 when he teamed with a fellow newcomer, Gralen, to win the tag team championship from The Congregation. It was only the second time competing as a team for the duo, who had earned the title shot by winning a tag team rumble a week earlier. The partnership, however, was short lived. After defending the belts against Mr. Universe and Aries, Gralen turned on O’Conner to get a shot at the universal title. O’Conner was succesful in his defense against Gralen in early 1999, and Gralen left the MMP shortly thereafter. The tag titles were held up in a three-month tournament and, after dropping the universal title to Psychotic Sam in January, O’Conner teamed up with The Ryno to enter the tournament. The duo made it to the finals before losing to Harbinger & The Destroyer after interference by Aries. O’Conner’s title pursuits slowed for the next couple of months as he became engaged in a heated feud with The Cult, a feud that was ignited with the arrival of The Cult Master in the MMP. Cult Master’s claims of divinity enraged O’Conner, thrusting the Captain into a rivalry with his followers that would last most of the year. His attentions soon became divided between The Cult and the MMP’s criminal element, namely Virus Richards and The Bootlegger. When The Syndicate was formed at Homicidal Tendencies after Richards defeated O’Conner in a Shipwreck Match. The group consisted of Richards, The Regulator, and two of O’Conner’s old rivals, John Korso and The Bootlegger. The Captain surprised the world over the Parade of Champions weekend, unveiling The Untouchables and capturing the MMP world title from Korso all within a 24 hour span. The celebration was short lived, though, as O’Conner’s longtime friend George Achica, who recently began wrestling in the MMP, turned against him after a bizarre sequence of events revolving around the kidnapping of John Korso. Achica joined up with The Syndicate, much to the chagrin of the world champ. The summer of 1999 in the MMP was dominated by the Syndicate/Untouchables feud, during which O’Conner succesfully defended the world title against all comers, defeating The Regulator, Korso, Wang Chen, Inferno, and The Destroyer, among others. The long anticipated showdown with The Bootlegger finally took place on September 18, but only after a tragic accident that took the life O’Conner’s wife Paulina. Blaming Bootlegger for the accident, O’Conner’s rage was uncontrollable at times, but he would lose the match by disqualification after Ryno interfered in the match. The tragedy helped mend the relationship between O’Conner and George, who patched up their differences in October. The Family began demanding a world title shot for Psychotic Sam, one of only three wrestlers to beat O’Conner in singles competition in the MMP (Bootlegger and Richards), but when The Congregation set one of O’Conner’s ships on fire and stole Paulina’s wedding ring, O’Conner battled Super Cupid, defeating him at Best of the Best in November to avenge his wife’s name. A match against Cult member Daark was signed for Season's Slayings almost immediately after Best of the Best. After defeating Masked Menace X, the mandatory number-one contender after MMX had won the Hall of Fame Tournament, on Hardcore Saturday Night in December, O'Conner's attentions became squarely focused on Daark. His only other pre-Season's Slayings match was a tag match where O'Conner teamed with Dr. No Limit against Daark and Inferno in a ladder match in which DNL's doctorate was on the line. The Cult team was victorious that night, forcing DNL to go by his real name, Benjamin Childs. In the week prior to his world title defense against Daark the Captain was severly injured in a shipwreck. Despite the urgings of George Achica to do otherwise, O'Conner made his title defense at Slayings against Daark. In his weakened condition, though, O'Conner was no match for Daark, who ended the Captain's near six-month run as world champion on the final card of 1999. From that point the Captain went on an extended hiatus from the MMP. He wasn't heard from nor seen for many months until the WrestleFest 2000 event when, moments after The Cult Master captured the MMP world championship, O'Conner made his startling return, staring down his longtime rival from the runway as the card came to an end. He returned to the ring in June 2000 and served as the referee of the Cult Master/Destroyer world title match at Chaos on the Coast, but disappeared again soon after.

They Said It...
"O'CONNOR and I both came into the MMP at the same time and right from the begining we were at each
other's throats. When we first locked-up back in the Fall of 1998, I realized I was wrestling a tremendous
competitor. He's smaller than most of the competition he faces here in the MMP but he's got the heart of
lion and he refuses to be beaten. His glaring weakness is that he is as intelligent as a bowl of over-cooked
pasta. His 'eagle scout moral barometer' will be his eventual downfall." – “Corrupt” John Korso
“Captain Patrick O'Conner, has always been champion. It takes more than armies of men to take him down. The CULT! has to give everything they can just to match O'Conner.....If only.....if only....he were part of the CULT!” -- Hot Crimson
"Captain Patrick O'Connor stands as one of the most powerful
forces in this mortal realm. His ability to stand behind a visage of good in order to mask his evil intentions has always been very skilled. O'Connor stands as my mortal enemy in the MMP and has been the best competition a mortal an ever be for God.............." -- The Cult Master
"Looking over the man's achievements, I've figured out that he may be the MMP's biggest star ever...next to me, of course. Plus not everyone can say they defeated me twice and did it cleanly (Bootlegger, Regulator,
Bootlegger, Bootlegger and also Bootlegger)." -- The Ryno
“This whole Hall of Fame thing is a total sham, and Old Captain Pegleg is a perfect example of why. I cleanly defeated this man in front of the world in our only one on one meeting, and he winds up in the Hall? What a joke. He wouldn’t even have held the world title if Korso didn’t somehow end up with it. But hey, I can be the bigger man. I know I’m the one who should be in. What can I say for O’Conner? Well, let’s just say that he’s a very smart champion. He never faces a challenger if he doesn’t know he can beat him. It’s cowardly, but effective. It’s lead to a very long title reign that might never again be equalled. He’s an inspiration to retirees everywhere.” – Virus Richards
