MMP Career History

After a bitter split with the HWA, Super Cupid entered into contract negotiations with the MMP. Cupid competed with the company for several weeks before bringing Masochrist, his long time tag team partner, to the MMP. With such fanfare did he arrive that his debut card saw him challenge Blitzkrieg for the MMP world title. Although he was unsuccesful in his attempt to win the belt, he let the world know that he meant business. A tag team loss against Tyrone Hughes and Aaron Shreve left many fans wondering if The Congregation was all it was hyped up to be, and a loss to GX two weeks later only magnified those questions. Rumors abounded that The Congregation could already be on the way out. Masochrist rebounded with a win over Diamond King and Jamaal in a tag team match at Apocalypse in Arizona and went for several months committed only to tag team wrestling. With Super Cupid, he formed arguably the most dominant team in MMP history. The Congregation won the tag team championship on September and would hold the belts for several months, defeating top teams like 7th House and No Remorse before dropping the belts to Captain Patrick O'Conner and Gralen in a match where Ouija Lullabye replaced Masochrist in teaming with Super Cupid. Masochrist's finest hour came at the Season's Slayings PPV in Toronto, Ontario. The match was scheduled to be a Triple Threat Match between Masochrist, The Ryno, and Mr. Marvellous for the world title, but before the match, Marvellous walked out to vacate the title. Masochrist pinned Ryno in a one- on-one match to capture the gold for the first time. After running Pitbull out of the MMP with a win in a Buried Alive Match, Masochrist defeated Gemini Killer in defense of the title before dropping it in a controversial fashion to Diamond King in Quincy, IL on January 30. After a poor showing at the Main Event Madness PPV, Masochrist went on an extended leave from the MMP. During the absence, world champion The Ryno was being taunted by a mysterious man calling himself "Sarah's Secret Admirer". Masochrist revealed himself to be the man behind the mystery at March Mayhem, and defeated Ryno in a Last Blood Match at Homicidal Tendencies to win the title for a second time. Only a few weeks later, Masochrist dropped the belt to The Regulator in a Snake Pit Match where all members of The Congregation (which now included The Family) and The Syndicate would be with the two combatants inside a steel cage. He left the MMP in June, but made his comeback in early September, interfering in a tag team title match. The comeback was short lived, though. Masochrist wasn't able to score a victory during his second stint in the MMP, losing to men such as Psychotic Sam, Daark, Hot Crimson, and finally Super Cupid before again leaving the MMP in December 1999. He mounted yet another comeback in the spring of 2000, reforming The Congregation with The Ryno, his longest running rival, as his tag team partner. The duo made several attempts at winning the tag team championship, but they were unable to win a single match in the division. Super Cupid, Maso's former partner, returned to the MMP to participate in the survivor's cup challenge at WrestleFest 2000, and while he was back he re-ignited his feud with Masochrist, this time debating ownership of the name "The Congregation". A pre-match attack on the first day of WrestleFest by Cupid seemingly put Masochrist out of the event, but he surprised everyone by appearing for his May 31 tag title match. The truth, though, was that there was no attack...it was all a Congregation ruse. Masochrist turned on Ryno and went back with Cupid, reforming the original Congregation.

They Said It...

"No one can ever say that Masochrist was anything but a champion. His record speaks for itself, two time World Champion, Tag Team Champion, and the only holder of the MMP/GWF Grand Championship. This wrestler's greatest attribute though is the extended story line. His angles blend with the federations as well as take some by complete surprise (Sarah's Secret Admirer). -- Captain Patrick O'Conner

"Masochrist has always been a bad ass. The dude scrapped my ass in about six seconds in the GWF/MMP Grand Tournament. We met a few weeks later and he damn near paralyzed my sorry ass. Got nothing but respect for that over-sized sweet potato...SCRAG!" -- Clay Moore

"I will always remember Masochrist as being a gutless coward. He ran from me in both the HWA and MMP, but when you consider that the main reason I wanted a piece of him was that he had the world championship, I guess that says something about the guy's ability in the ring. Naturally, I had no trouble taking him down, but he was, without a doubt, the best of the rest - plus I don't think I can remember anyone putting so many small-time fed bosses in the unemployment line as this guy did. At least he was good for that." -- Diamond King

"It is a well know fact that Masochist and myself have...shall we say...never seen things with the same slant. But, upon hearing he was being inducted into the Hall of Fame, my first thought was, 'Oh SH#T!!!' But, after the inital shock wore off, it seemed kinda natural. He has held belts in so many places, it was a chore just naming them all. Not really, but a nice thought. His chronic obsestion with fire was, to say the least, scary. But, thankfully, a passing fad. I wish him the best in his 'Hall-of-Fameness'." -- West Law
