Hardcore Saturday Night - August 1999
All Matches NO DISQUALIFICATION - Live from Reno, NV
HYOGA vs. SHOCK
Inferno's music started to play with the phoenix flying overhead as Shock
made his way down to the ring, obviously looking to make a better accounting of himself than he
did in his debut at BattleGround 2. He didn't get much of a chance, however, as Hyoga came
running down and nailed Shock in the back with a steel chair before he could get to the ring.
Rolling his opponent in, Hyoga set the steel chair on the canvas and delivered a powerbomb
onto it, but didn't want to go for the pin just yet. Pulling Shock up, Hyoga nailed him with a
chokeslam. This time he went for the cover, scoring the three count to earn his first MMP
win.
IZZ AMAZING vs. Y2K
With Amazing waiting in the ring, Y2K made his way down with Mack.
Using his quickness to keep away from Amazing, Y2K nailed Izz with a quick kick to the
midsection before hitting a dropkick that sent Amazing out through the ropes to the floor. Mack
tossed Y2K a steel chair, which he set up in the middle of the ring before backing into the
corner. Waiting for Amazing to pull himself up on the outside, Y2K ran across the ring, using
the chair as a springboard in a triple jump plancha over the top rope. At the last minute,
Amazing stepped out of the way, sending Y2K crashing into the safety rail. Izz quickly tossed
Y2K back into the ring and went to work. He nailed him with a clothesline in the corner
followed by a swinging neckbreaker before going to the top rope. Amazing came off with a
diving headbutt, but Y2K moved out of the way and Amazing landed face first on the canvas.
After hitting Amazing with a legdrop off the ropes, Y2K grabbed the chair and headed to the
top rope. Holding the chair against his chest, Y2K came off the top with a moonsault, but this
time it was Amazing dodging his opponent's high risk attack, moving out of the way just as Y2K
hit, causing Y2K to land hard on the steel chair. Rebounding back to his feet, Y2K turned and
was caught with the Hawaiian Spinebuster. Amazing covered him and hooked the leg for the
three count. Izz then grabbed the mic:
Izz: DNL, this is why I let you win last week. This time when you face me, it aint going to be
as easy as it looks. I am not a jobber, i'm a winner.
Before the show hit the air, the cameras picked up a shot of The Ryno entering the arena when
suddenly he was confronted by the entire CWO. Beumont tried to pick a fight with Ryno, but
the former world champion tore through the hobos with ease, knocking all five of them down
before continuing on his way. Suddenly, Virus Richards and The Bootlegger jumped out from
behind a truck and attacked Ryno with football yard markers. Virus nailed Ryno in the back of
the knees and Bootlegger nailed him over the back before the two men picked Ryno up and
locked him in the back of the van. Bootlegger headed into the arena as Virus walked up to the
driver's door and slapped the side, telling him everything was set before following Bootlegger
into the building. The camera showed Ponch driving the van with a big smile on his face. The
van started out of the parking lot when suddenly it slammed on the brakes. The driver's side
door was kicked open and Ponch was thrown from the van as Ryno jumped down and ran into
the building.
MMP Hardcore Saturday Night is on the air! The sold out crowd in Reno, NV is stirring into a
frenzy as the ring crew is putting the final pieces of television equipment into place before the
opening pyro display begins. As the smoke clears, commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer
take over the broadcast.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to MMP Hardcore Saturday Night! I'm Jerry Wood alongside
Ray Brewer on the road in Reno, Nevada where tonight the holders of five out of six MMP titles
will be in action, including both the world and universal champions who will be involved in a six-
man elimination tag team match in our main event.
Brewer: The Syndicate/Untouchables feud continues this week with Captain Patrick O'Conner
and The Bootlegger each leading members of their respective groups into battle. O'Conner will
team with Mute and the newest member of The Untouchables, Scott Worth, to take on
Bootlegger, "Corrupt" John Korso, and O'Conner's former friend and confidant George Achica,
who shocked the world a couple of weeks ago by betraying O'Conner to join up with Korso
and The Syndicate.
Wood: Three title matches on tap here tonight with the tag team, extreme, and TV titles all on
the line. Psychotic Sam and Big Daddy Cash will do battle in a strap match, but we kick things
off this week with Whiplash doing battle with Tao Te Ching. Let's get the action underway here
in Reno!
WHIPLASH vs. TAO TE CHING
Whiplash made his way to the ring first, carrying a backpack over his
shoulder and a pipe in his hand. Blitzkrieg was nowhere to be found, a choice that proved
costly in the early going. With no one to watch his back, Tao, Hot Crimson, Cup, and Tran
came running out from the dressing room and attacked Whiplash. Blitz made the save, pulling
Crimson off, but the other three pounded Whiplash down with baseball bats shapes like wooden
stakes. Whiplash crawled down towards the ring, and Tao rolled him in looking for a quick win.
He started pulling Whiplash up, but didn't notice that Whiplash still had the pipe in his hand.
When Tao turned Whiplash towards him, 'Lash nailed Tao directly in the right knee with the
pipe. Tao went down hard, grasping his leg in pain as Whiplash pulled himself up. Dragging
Tao out towards the middle of the ring, Whiplash applied a half crab, positioning his body to put
the full pressure down on the right knee joint. Tao eventually dragged himself to the ropes, and
even though he could not be disqualified, Whiplash released the hold. Dropping Tao's leg down
hard, Whiplash nailed him in the knee with the pipe one more time before tossing the weapon
away and pacing around the ring contemplating a new method of attack. He turned back to
Tao, but when he pulled him up, Tao nailed Whiplash in the collarbone with a pipe that had been
passed into him by Tran. Grabbing his neck and shoulder, Whiplash backed off, allowing Tao
to get back to his feet and hit a swinging neckbreaker. Visably limping, Tao backed up towards
the ropes and came at 'Lash with a spinning heel kick. The kick caught Whiplash flush in the
jaw, but the impact of the move also took it's toll on Tao's injured leg. Tao was slow in
following up, but still managed to keep control of the match. He hit Whiplash with a legsweep to
take him down, then waited for him to get up again before going for a huracanrana. Whiplash
had been playing possum, however, and caught Tao in mid air, turning it into a powerbomb
before applying a figure four leglock. Tao looked ready to give it up, but he just couldn't bring
himself to give it up. His pain stricken body fell limp to the canvas and the referee counted, but
before he could make the three count, Tao shot up with one last burst of energy and reached out
to the bottom rope, grabbing it to force the break. Pulling Tao back up, Whiplash nailed a
backbreaker and a powerslam before going over to his corner and the backpack that he had
brought out at the beginning. Tao started crawling to his corner as Whiplash sorted through the
bag and pulled out a mini television. With Tao lying face down in his corner, Whiplash moved in
slowly. Dragging Tao out towards the middle of the ring, Whiplash wound up to smash the TV
over Tao's knee, but before he could deliver the blow, Tao reached up and nailed Whiplash in
the forehead with a nightstick! Whiplash went down hard and Tao seized his opportunity,
straddling Whiplash and using the stick to choke the life out of the former tag team champion.
With Whiplash bordering on unconsciousness, Tao went slowly up to the top rope and nailed
the Essential Flash! Tao then made the cover for the three count. Cup and Tran pulled the
injured oriental star out to the floor while a livid Blitzkrieg jumped in the ring and rolled Whiplash
to the outside. Not wanting to wait until later on, Blitz challenged Crimson to get in the ring and
have their match right then and there. Never one to duck a challenge, Crimson jumped up on
the apron and signalled that he was ready to go.
BLITZKRIEG vs. HOT CRIMSON
Just as Crimson stepped through the ropes, Blitz pointed up towards the
ceiling and the lights in the arena went out. When they came back up, Blitz was standing over a
fallen Crimson with a baseball bat in hand. With things obviously well in control early on, Blitz
pulled Crimson up and nailed a brainbuster suplex and a DDT before going for the cover.
Crimson, obviously far from beaten, easily kicked out at two, but Blitz was still in the dominant
roll in the contest. Whiplash passed a steel chair in to his tag team partner, but when he turned
around, he was met with a face full of mace from Tao Te Ching! The two men who had already
done battle earlier on in the evening continued their match on the outside of the ring while their
respective tag team partners did battle on the inside. The action on the floor distracted Blitz and
allowed Crimson to grab the chair that Whiplash had tossed in. Blitz reached out to try and grab
Tao Te Ching, but before he could get his hands on Tao Crimson blasted him across the back
with the chair. Going over to his bag that Cup had brought out earlier in the evening, Crimson
pulled out a pair of work gloves, the same ones that Cup had borrowed from his friend in the
tavern a couple of days earlier. Putting the gloves on, Crimson nailed Blitz with the chair once
more before going out to the floor. While Blitz struggled to pull himself up, Crimson reached
under the ring and pulled out a large plane of glass. Going to the top rope with glass in hand,
Crimson waited for Blitz to get back to his feet before jumping off the top, but before Crimson
could hit Blitz with the glass, the former world champion spun around with the steel chair and
nailed Crimson in the face, shattering the glass against his opponent in the process. Shards of
glass sprayed all over the ringside area as a now bloodied Hot Crimson landed nearly
unconscious on the canvas. With glass covering the ring, Blitz pulled Crimson up and nailed the
Ride the Lightning powerbomb before covering him for the three count. Blitz rolled out of the
ring and helped Whiplash fight of Tao before No Remorse headed back to the dressing room.
The two men, however, stopped halfway up the aisle and made the motion of lighting up a joint,
pointing up to the ceiling as a tribute to their deceased friend and ally, Pot Head.
Wood: What a pair of matches to open up Hardcore Saturday Night. I
don't think we've seen the last of this feud by a long shot. With No Remorse and Crimson and
Tao splitting this series here tonight, I don't think anything has been settled between these two
factions.
Brewer: Emotions were really running high during those two matches, especially between
Whiplash and Tao. Did you see the way those two were going at it, even after their match was
over? I have to agree with you, Wood, I don't think we've seen the last of these four.
Wood: Ladies and gentlemen, "Corrupt" John Korso has made his way out to ringside for some
guest commentary on our next match. Mr. Korso, your close friend "Stunning" Steve Simon will
defend the MMP television title in our next match against Masked Man X. Any comments on
this upcoming battle?
Korso: What kind of COWARD hides behind a mask? He calls himself a hero? On
several occasions, we've witnessed Masked Man X help wrinkled old ladies across the street.
But the truth of the matter is that Masked Man X was actually just trying to get a date! What
kind of hero wears a gimp mask anyway? "Stunning" Steve Simon is a REAL hero.
Wood: Despite those comments, Mr. Korso, Masked Man X is a former television champion,
and I'm sure most will agree that MMX was not on top of his game when he dropped the belt to
Simon a couple of weeks ago. Let's see what the founder of The Legion of Heroes has in him
tonight as we go back to the ring for the first of three title matches.
MMP Television Championship Match
"STUNNING" STEVE
SIMON (C) vs. MASKED MAN X
With Masked Man X waiting in the ring, Steve Simon came to the ring with
Kuddlin' Kristin at his side and with a metal pipe in his hand. As he rolled into the ring, MMX
didn't waste any time going after the champion with a clothesline, but Simon ducked out of the
way and caught MMX on the rebound with a pipe shot to the shoulder. MMX went down
clutching his arm in pain, but Simon didn't let up. He immediately jumped on top of MMX,
choking him with the pipe across the throat. With MMX nearly choked out, Simon set the pipe
on MMX's throat and went to the second rope, coming off with a stomp that crushed the pipe
into MMX's windpipe. Grabbing MMX by the legs, Simon slingshot him into the corner,
causing the challenger to hit head first on the top of the steel ring post before collapsing to the
canvas. The champion then applied the Hollywood Stretch. MMX didn't last long before
tapping out, allowing Simon to retain the title. Rolling out to the floor after his victory, Simon
met up with Korso on the outside. The two men shook hands and walked back to the dressing
room together with Kristin following closely behind. Just as the two men passed through the
exit, Hot Crimson appeared on the giant video screen, still bloodied and apparently enraged
after his match from Blitzkrieg.
Hot Crimson: Things have changed dramatically in the MMP recently. The strong
emergence of the powerful Cult, the falling of the Untouchables, and the Syndicate's new
member. Not to mention the return of this fed's worst record holder, Hyoga. But I officially
declare now to all of the MMP wrestlers back stage, and the ones watching in the safety of
their home. Hot Crimson is here to stay, and is the GUARANTEED FUTURE WORLD
CHAMPION! But I can't get the World Title overnight, therefore, I am officially challenging
the Television Champion at Apocalypse. Whomever it may be, Ryno, Cap'n Peggy, Steve
Simon, Wolverine, or even Tao Te Ching! I WANT MY TITLE SHOT AT THE
PPV!
Wood: "Stunning" Steve Simon has retained the TV title in dominant
fashion, but it looks like someone backstage has stood up and taken notice. Hot Crimson wants
his shot, and he wants it at Apocalypse. The only question that remains is whether Steve Simon
will answer the call.
Brewer: I'm sure that Simon will have an answer for Crimson by the time the weekend is out.
Ever since the TV title was reinstated back in March, it has been one of the hottest divisions in
the MMP with top names like Clay Moore and Wang Chen also holding the title and defending
against all comers. The thing I have to say I like about the TV title is it is one of the few belts in
the MMP that hasn't been disgraced by this Joker's Ranking System nonsense. I've always
known Steve Simon to be a man's man, and I don't think he'll run and hide from Crimson's
challenge.
Wood: We've got another title match up next, and for the first time ever, the extreme title will be
defended in a gauntlet match. Aries must beat FIVE men here this evening in order to retain the
title, and despite my broadcast collegue's utter contempt of Aries' opponents, I think this could
be a very interesting match to say the least. Remember, it's no disqualification, and you never
know who could show up. Let's go to the ring.
MMP Extreme Championship
Gauntlet Match
ARIES (C)
vs. THE CEC'S WORLD ORDER
Aries came down to the ring first, accompanied by Mr. Marvellous and
Big Daddy Cash. Banjo Buzz will then came out playing "I Am A Real Chinese Man" on his
one string banjo. China Town Lee made his way into the ring waving a pair of boxer shorts on a
hockey stick that had the letters CWO spray painted on it. Aries wasted no time with Lee,
kicking him in the midsection as soon as he stepped through the ropes. Three seconds after a
Godly Drop, Lee was eliminated. The bell rang and William and Richard both came down,
arguing over which one had to get in next. Their argument continued into the ring where Aries
grabbed both men simulatenously and nailed a double chokeslam. With a boot on the chest of
each man, Aries looked on confidently as the ref counted the three on both William and Richard.
The bell then rang again, but no one came down. Suddenly, Mr. Beumont came running in from
the crowd, slid into the ring, and nailed Aries softly across the back with a chair from behind.
Beumont dropped the chair and started dancing around the ring as if he had just won the world
title, but Aries barely budged. When Beumont turned around, Aries nailed him with the Godly
Drop for yet another pinfall. The CWO was down to their last man. Brick Stevens came down
the aisle, stopping halfway to catch his breath. Huffing and puffing from the "excruciating" walk
down the aisle, Brick pulled himself slowly up the steps. As he was entering the ring, Brick
tripped over the bottom rope and tumbled through the ropes at Aries' feet. Rather than
attacking his former High Society teammate, Aries simply glared at Brick in disgust, almost
daring him to get up. Brick struggled, but wasn't able to get back to his feet. Almost as if he
was getting tired of calling such a one-sided match, the referee started to administer the ten
count on Brick. When the big man couldn't answer the count, the official stopped the match,
awarding the decision to Aries.
Wood: Well, not much of a surprise here as Aries has retained the extreme
title over the CWO, and although the "Beast from Greece" may not have faced much of a
challenge here tonight, I'm sure that he will have his hands full and then some when he puts the
belt on the line against Psychotic Sam in a warehouse match at Apocalypse. Speaking of
Psychotic Sam, he is scheduled next against a longtime ally of Aries' in High Society, the younger
brother of Mr. Marvellous, Big Daddy Cash. Will Aries get involved and try to soften up his
opponent for the upcoming PPV? Let's go to the ring to find out.
Strap Match
PSYCHOTIC SAM vs. BIG DADDY
CASH
Cash came down first, accompanied by Marvellous. He got in the ring
slowly, insisting on flexing before being strapped in by the referee. Psychotic Sam then made his
way out with Mike the Giant Retard, who was carrying both Marbels' body and Harold the
Fish. The head of Marbels was being worn proudly around Sam's neck. Mike strapped Sam in
while Sam chewed on the strap. Cash started the match off with a quick running clothesline,
knocking the distracted Sam down early. Showing his cockiness, Cash posed in front of the
camera before refocusing on the match. In the meantime, Sam pulled himself up and nailed Cash
back of the head with the metal head of Marbels. Sam then tossed Marbels' head over to Mike
before jumping on top of Cash and strangling him by the ropes with the strap. Marvellous came
over and started yelling at Sam, distracting him long enough for Cash to break free from the
choke hold. Cash got back to his feet, gasping for air, but Sam kept coming, charging at Cash,
who was still standing by the ropes. Cash saw him coming and moved out of the way, sending
Sam flying over the top ropes out to the floor. The momentum, however, caused Cash to be
pulled over the top by the strap, and brought the younger brother of Mr. Marvellous to the floor
as well. Cash was stunned, and by the time he got his senses back about him, Sam was already
back to his feet with steel chair in hand. When Cash turned around, Sam nailed him over the
head with the chair. Sam repeated the attack, nailing Cash again and again until he managed to
get a good grip on the strap and jerk Sam hard into the ring post. Again, Cash was slow getting
up and Sam was able to keep his offense going, giving Cash yet another chair shot to the head,
this time busting the Canadian's forehead open. Luckily for Cash, Sam got distracted by one of
his customary spells, and grabbed his head, screaming about the Jehovah's Witnesses coming to
his door early in the morning. This gave Cash his first real opening of the match, and he took full
advantage, applying Big Daddy's Dreams. Sam struggled to get free, but Cash kept the hold
locked on tightly. Even after Sam reached the ropes, Cash refused to break the hold and Sam
appeared to be fading quickly. The cameras then cut to a shot backstage, where Ali Rash
Hashid was trying to offer Mack a shoe shine as he had offered Y2K last week. Mack nailed
Rash Hashid over the head with his pimp cane before coming running down to the ring. With
Marvellous preoccupied by Mike asking him if he had any CDs, Mack jumped up on the apron
and forced Cash to release the hold with a shot to the head with his cane. Marvellous came
around and pulled Mack off the apron, not noticing that his brother's face was becoming
covered in blood. Smacking himself in the head to wake himself up, Sam reached under the ring
and grabbed a metal rod. With Cash lying prone on the canvas, Sam started hammering on
Cash's midsection with the rod until blood started coming out of Cash's mouth. At that point the
referee finally stepped in and stopped the match, awarding it to Psychotic Sam. After the match,
Sam pulled Cash back to his feet, wrapping the strap around Cash's throat and tossing him over
the top rope, holding Cash in a hanging position. Things looked bad for Cash, but Sam had his
back turned to the entrance way and never saw Aries making his way down to the ring. Aries
quickly jumped in the ring, grabbing Sam by the hair and nailing him with the Godly Drop. Mike
tried to get in the ring, but Aries caught him with a kick to the gut and tossed him to the outside.
The Joker's Child and Ponch came running out to help Sam and Mike as Marvellous helped
Cash exit through the crowd. As Aries was making his way out, a large man in a cloak
appeared behind him in the aisle. When Aries turned around, the man pulled out a thermos and
tossed scalding hot water into the extreme champion's face! Shaking off the hood of his cloak,
the mystery man was revealed to be The Saint. Saint went down to the ring to help The Family
to the back.
Wood: A big win for Psychotic Sam, but the real story here has to be the
return to the MMP of The Saint. The last time we saw that man he was calling himself Disco
Pete, and had turned against Sam and The Family for the sake of the extreme title. Now it looks
like he is trying to win his way back into that bizarre group of individuals. I wonder how this will
play into Sam's match with Aries at the upcoming PPV.
Brewer: I think it's nothing more than a case of The Family trying to get as many stooges as they
can together in time for the big match. Hey, the more the merrier. I can't remember the last time
any of those guys won a match on their own, so it only makes sense that they would try and get
everyone back together to try and steal the title away from Aries. I just hope that High Society
is ready for them and can crush that little rodent. Maybe a good old fashioned throttling at the
hands of the "Beast from Greece" is what it will take to get those dirtbags out of the
MMP.
Wood: Our third and final title match is up next with the tag team championship on the line in a
handicap match. We understand that at Apocalypse it will be The Joker's Child defending the
belts against two men, but tonight we see the champions with the numbers advantage as they
head into tonight's match with Daark. Let's go to the ring.
