Harbinger: Not much is known about the early life of man as Harbinger. His
first known record involves his incarceration in the Faulkner County Insane
Asylum, appearing out of nowhere at its front door. It soon became apparent
that the "mystery man" had severe psychological problems. He spent his
entire time laughing hysterically and banging his head against the padded
walls of his cell. Because of overcrowding in the institution, he was soon
given a roommate of similar mysterious background. He was known only as
Mantis, and he was incarcerated for obsessive self-mutilation. Harbinger was
the only person who ever seemed to connect with Mantis. Mantis never spoke,
and acted exactly as an animal would. Many believe this is where Harbinger
picked up similar behavior. Soon, Mantis dissappeared suddenly from the
asylum, and later appeared as the animalistic henchman for a wrestler known
as The Cult Master. Not long after Mantis' disappearance, Harbinger
disappeared as well, appearing along the side of The Cult Master a few years
later in a wrestling federation known as the UWF. Harbinger's unorthodox,
feral style of wrestling led him to much success in the UWF, prompting UWF
Commissioner Ace Matrix to utilize him as a critical member of a group of
wrestlers known as the UCW Revolution. The UCW Revolution entered the MMP in
late 1998, as a joint venture between the two companies. The deal later fell
through, leaving he and his partner The Destroyer alone in the MMP. This led
the disturbed Harbinger to an even deeper level of madness. Most effective
as part of a tag team with The Destroyer, Harbinger and his team tore
through the ranks of the MMP Tag Team scene, and would go on to win the
titles many times. Soon he and The Destroyer, both looking for guidance,
were instrumental in bringing in The Cult Master. This was the birth of The
Cult, one of the most feared groups in the history of the MMP. Still
Harbinger remained quite mad, barely able enough to form complete sentences
and oddly obsessed with making his opponents bleed. In late 1999, because of
various circumstances, Harbinger grew so mad that he stopped speaking all
together. He would finally recieve help in early 2000, upon the return of
the ex-Cult member known as Crimson. Crimson held a bond with Harbinger, as
they had both shared this odd lust for blood. Crimson was the first to
finally break through to Harbinger, and the madman finally broke through to
more civilized behavior, thanks to his re-united Cult "Brother". As a tag
team with The Destroyer, Harbinger has had many great feuds, the greatest of
which was with a tag team known as No Remorse.
The Destroyer: As is the case with his tag team partner Harbinger, little is
known about the early life of the man known as The Destroyer. This,
apparently, has been done on purpose because of his first known appearance
as a member of the United States Army's Special Forces. As a member of the
Special Forces Interrogation and Torture Division, his history needed to be
kept secret. Rising through the ranks of his unit, The Destroyer was
suddenly discharged from the Army on account of his methods of torture being
too brutal and inhumane. This enraged the massive Destroyer, and he went on
a rampage for several years, living homeless and assaulting all who tried to
help. Somehow, however, his unnatural rage was quelled to unnatural stoicism
and calmness upon his next known appearance, as a wrestler in the UCW. This
apparently was achieved through the aid of his newfound "God", the man known
as The Cult Master. The Destroyer was an unstoppable force in the UCW, and
his background led him to be especially effective in hardcore-stlye matches.
He was so effective, in fact, that he became the UCW Extreme Champion soon
after his entry, a title which he held for three years before entering the
MMP as part of the UCW Revolution. Once in the MMP, The Destroyer picked up
where he left off, winning the Extreme Title numerous times. In the realm of
extreme wrestling, much debate has since raged as to whether it is The
Destroyer or MMP Hall of Fame member Psychotic Sam who is the greatest
extreme wrestler of all time. Other singles accolades have followed for The
Destroyer, including one of the longest reigns as Television Champion in MMP
history, and his almost legendary performance at the 1999 MMP Wrestlefest
Pay-Per View. Just as historic as his singles ventures, however, is his
performance as part of a tag team with fellow Cult member Harbinger, where
they won several titles. Highlighted by great tag team rivalries, most
especially with the tag team No Remorse, Harbinger and The Destroyer have
become one of the most feared duos in the MMP. As part of this tag team and
as a singles wrestler, The Destroyer has been a part of some of the greatest
fueds in MMP history, in which he has been a central part of The Cult's
feuds with "Captain" Patrick O'Connor, The Syndicate, and The Cartel, among
many others.
MMP Career History
Harbinger and The Destroyer arrived in the MMP in November 1998, amidst much fanfare
as a group calling itself the UCW Revolution. This revolution, comprised of wrestlers
from an outside federation, however, fell through when The Sarge, a key player in the
UCW faction, was abruptly released from his MMP contract before the group could make
any significant impact. Harbinger and Destroyer (H & D) made only one in ring
appearance in 1998, making their MMP debut in a tag team rumble on December 12, a
match that was eventually won by future tag team champions Captain Patrick O'Conner &
Gralen. H & D did not make a serious impact in their first match, but they would make a
huge impact on the tag team ranks of the MMP early in 1999. O'Conner & Gralen had
been stripped of the championship just prior to the new year, and the belts were put up in
a prolonged tournament that comprised of both a round robin and an elimination portion.
Though they placed second in the round robin (No Remorse), H & D went on to win the
tag titles for the first time in that tournament, defeating the team of O'Conner and then-
world champion The Ryno in the finals at the March Mayhem PPV. Their first title reign
was a shaky one, however. A disqualification defeat against Gemini Killer & Moonelf and
a no contest decision against No Remorse set the stage for their first PPV title defense,
where H & D would lose the belts to their greatest rivals, No Remorse, in a three way
match that also included Psychotic Sam & The Saint. During this period both Harbinger
and Destroyer branched out on singles careers, though each was met with different results.
The Destroyer excelled, capturing the MMP extreme championship on more than one
occasion, while Harbinger struggled, earning only as many victories as his partner did
championships. H & D came back together to regain the tag titles at WrestleFest 1999,
defeating No Remorse on the first day of the event. They went on to defeat West Law &
Damien Jentz in defense of those titles at the same event. Destroyer also achieved great
individual success at WF '99, winning a survivor's cup rumble and successfully defending
the extreme championship against Christian Antimarius and The Regulator before
dropping the strap to Psychotic Sam on June 1 (a loss Destroyer would avenge on
Saturday Night Slams in September of that year). Their second title reign was no longer
than their first as H & D lost the tag titles at the next PPV event, Chaos on the Coast, in
yet another triple threat match, this time to Sean Williams and Wang Chen, known
collectively as Lone Gunz. This time, though, it was not a member of the champion team
that was defeated, rather it was Whiplash (one half of No Remorse, the other team in the
match) who submitted to Williams, causing the titles to change hands. From that point on
H & D pulled out of tag team competition, with both foucsing more on singles
competition. While Harbinger competed sparingly Destroyer became quite active,
capturing another extreme championship and becoming, as many believed, the man who
came closest to ending Captain Patrick O'Conner's lengthy world title reign in the summer
of '99. By the end of 1999, though, the tag team championship became vacant once again,
and another tournament (much like the one that H & D had won in '99) was scheduled in
early 2000 to fill the title. H & D came together once more and entered the tournament,
though this time they did not fare nearly as well as they had the previous year. They again
earned second place in the round robin portion of the tournament, but this time they were
upset in the first round of the elimination by The Bootlegger & Inferno (the tournament
was won by Death & Wolverine). At the Homicidal Tendencies 2000 PPV event, a very
unique match was signed. Death and Wolverine set to defend their title against The
Congregation, H & D, and Benjamin Childs & George Achica in a four way ladder match.
After the match was signed Childs became the universal champion, and with Destroyer
(who by this time was the reigning TV champion) also in the match, three championships
were involved in a single match. The ruling? All three titles would be on the line in a
three fall, four way ladder match. H & D dominated the match, proving their tag team
supremacy by taking two of the three falls, enabling not only Destroyer to retain his TV
belt, but also the team to capture the tag titles for an unprecedented third time.
WrestleFest 2000 saw H & D defend their belts successfully on all three days of the event,
defeating The Soldiers of Misfortune, The Congregation, and The Front Line on
consecutive evenings. Destroyer also continued his individual dominance at WrestleFest
by not surviving the TV title series, but also by winning the survivor's cup competition and
earning a shot at the MMP world championship at Chaos on the Coast. Shortly after WrestleFest, Harbinger and Destroyer feigned a split as part of Cult Master's plan to have Harbinger serve as a spy with Virus Richards, even though it meant giving up the tag titles to Aries & Hades. The team was reunited one final time at Final Judgment after Harbinger returned to The Cult, but their rust was clear as Hades & Baital easily retained the tag titles in that final match.

They Said It...
"What is there to say about those two? (Harbinger and The Destroyer) You have the
biggest man in the MMP teamed up with a very unpredictable wrestler, you put a
mastermind such as the Cult Master, and you have the most dominating tag team of all
time. Not only that, but they’re the first three time tag champions, an accomplishment that
no one else has done here in the MMP." -- Death
"Last year I went to see the MMP in Pittsburgh, and Harbinger signed my training bra
strap." -- Lolli Pop, "valet" for Controversy
"On The Destroyer and Harbinger: Finally, a 2000 inductee that deserves respect. Note
how I said "inductee", not plural. While Harbinger stuttered his way into mediocrity,
Destroyer took his rightful place in The Cult to become the most powerful Cult follower
of all. I always thought he could've overthrown The Cult Master at any time. The guy
has always been a favorite of mine, as he's been able to stick it to me in the Extreme
division and not p*ss out like all the rest. He dominates every division he's in and he can
only go higher. Now, about Harbinger...that says it all." -- The Ryno
"It's about damn time Brother Harbinger got some recognition for all his toil and suffering.
He has singlehandedly carried Bob to three tag team titles and still he is ridiculed simply
for having a speech impedement. I don't see anyone else around here who could earn The
Cult the reputation it has on his own the way Brother Harbinger has. Those who mock
him bow your heads in shame!" – Virus Richards
