Live on PPV August 25 from Shea Stadium in Flushing, NY
MMP Apocalypse is on the air! More than 50, 000 fans have jammed Shea
Stadium in Flushing, NY from top to bottom in anticipation of the MMP's August PPV tradition.
A dazzling fireworks display fills the night sky above the scoreboard in right-center field before
commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer, who are seated at ringside, take over the
broadcast.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to Flushing, New York! Welcome to Shea
Stadium and MMP Apocalypse!! I'm Jerry Wood alongside Ray Brewer where tonight, in front
of this sold out crowd, we will see eleven action-packed matches, with six championships to be
decided. Arguably the most famous wrestling card in the history of this park saw a main event
broadcast via closed circuit television from Tokyo when two of the greatest athletes of our time,
Muhammad Ali and Antonio Inoki, met in the highest profile boxer/wrestler match we have ever
seen. Tonight, in the tradition of this great facility, we will be broadcasting our main event live
from the private island of Gene Barlotta, known to the world as MMP universal champion The
Bootlegger, when Barlotta and Virus Richards will represent The Syndicate against The
Untouchables, represented by The Ryno and the reigning MMP world champion Captain
Patrick O'Conner. Anything goes, one fall to a finish, and of course, both the world and
universal championships will be up for grabs.
Brewer: And that's not all, Wood, we have three title matches to take place at the ol' ballyard
tonight, as well the first-ever warehouse match for the extreme championship when Psychotic
Sam will attempt to win the title for an unprecedented fourth time when he meets Aries. Both
men are members of the Hall of Fame, but this will be the first ever meeting between the two,
with their only other match ending in a double disqualification before it could even get started
back at Chaos on the Coast. There will be no disqualification tonight, we will have a winner and
only one man will come out of that warehouse as champion.
Wood: Add to that three title matches here in the building tonight. The Joker's Child will
singlehandedly defend the tag titles against members of the CWO, Steve Simon puts his TV title
up against Hot Crimson, and DNL and Izz Amazing meet in a return match from a couple of
weeks ago on Saturday Night Slams, this time with the midwestern title at stake. We have a
match with Big Daddy Cash taking on Mack tonight with the loser being forced not only to leave
the MMP, but to take all of his associates with him. Will tonight mark the end of High Society,
or will the career of The Upstarts be put out to pasture before it can even really get started?
With all that and more on the card tonight, let's not wait any longer and take you to the ring for
our opening contest!
HARBINGER vs. LEONARD
Harbinger made his way out to the ring first, coming to the ring alone with still
no word as to the identity of his opponent for tonight. As the bizarre man stepped through the
ropes, the sounds of "Sweet Home Alabama" blared over the loudspeaker as a bunch of
southerners dressed in overalls made their way to the ring, leading the way for a man wearing a
black cowboy outfit who would face Harbinger tonight, Hot Crimson's manager, Leonard "Cup"
Cooper! Cup entered the ring with shouts of encouragement coming from his entourage, but
before he could even discard his entrance wear, Harbinger smothered Cup in the corner, raking,
scratching, and biting at Cup's upper body while the southerner struggled to get his bearings.
With his opponent dazed, Harbinger bounced off the ropes and took him down with a flying
crossbody, scoring a two count before Cup got his right shoulder up. Pulling Cup up, Harbinger
went for a vertical suplex, but Cup showed the first signs of his wrestling training, landing on his
feet, spinning Harbinger around, and nailing him with a DDT. After letting out a cheer to his
buddies on the floor, Cup clotheslined Harbinger against the ropes, sending him through the
middle strands and out to the floor. Surrounded by the hillbillies, Cup pulled Harbinger back to
his feet and nailed a sidewalk slam on the padded floorboards before rolling the man back into
the ring to avoid the countout. After delivering a series of kneedrops to Harbinger's back, Cup
backed up and bounced off the ropes as Harbinger got back to his feet, going for a diving
shoulderblock. Harbinger, however, caught Cup in mid air, turning the move into a fallaway
slam before applying a camel clutch. Frothing at the mouth, Harbinger wrenched back further
on Cup's neck and back as the manager reached out desperately for the ropes. After finally
conceding that Cup wasn't going to give it up, Harbinger released the hold, stomping repeatedly
on the man's back before going to the top rope. Cup slowly pulled himself up, but didn't see
Harbinger until it was too late. The former tag team champion came off the top, nailing The
Omen and covering Cup for the three count.
Wood: This has to be considered a big win for Harbinger, who hasn't been
able to find success in singles competition for many months now. Despite his success in tag team
action along with The Destroyer, individual triumphs have been few and far between for this very
unique individual, but he comes away with a victory here in the opening bout at MMP
Apocalypse.
Brewer: I don't know how much of a victory this can be for Harbinger. After all, for the two or
three months that Leonard "Cup" Cooper has been in the MMP, he has been serving as a
manager for Hot Crimson. He hasn't had any experience actually competing in the ring. Many
have tried to make that transition, but only a scarce few have been able to accomplish it with any
success. It will be interesting to see if Cooper can join that short list.
Wood: What we have up next was originally scheduled to be a tag team match, but after some
travel complications, Blitzkrieg was unable to make it to the stadium for the scheduled match
pitting he and Whiplash, together as No Remorse, against Tao Te Ching and his mystery
partner. With only Whiplash in the building, officials have had to amend the lineup at the last
minute, and what we have will now be a singles match, one-on-one, with Tao and Whiplash
meeting in a return match of sorts from their first match a few weeks ago. Let's go back to the
ring.
TAO TE CHING vs. WHIPLASH
Tao took the fight to Whiplash right from the start, slapping him across the
face and then nailing a dropkick to the chin before Whiplash could respond. Tao's lightning
quick movements overcame Whiplash right from the opening bell, as Tao whipped his man into
the corner and nailed a clothesline against the buckle before climbing the ropes and hitting a
tornado DDT. As Tran looked on from the outside, Tao picked up the pace, nailing Whiplash
with a sidekick to the chest before going to the top rope and nailing the Essential Flash.
Hooking the leg, Tao counted along with the ref as the official made the three count.
Wood: Tao Te Ching continues his winning ways here in the MMP, scoring
his second victory over Whiplash in as many tries. This young man from the orient has been
impressive in the early days of his MMP career, and some experts are predicting that Tao Te
Ching could find himself in the hunt for a minor championship within the next couple of
months.
Brewer: A lot of names have come and gone, but it takes a real talent to put a real solid run
together. I'll admit it, Tao has had some impressive outings in his preliminary matches, but
winning championships is an entirely different topic. We'll find out what this kid is made
of.
Wood: Speaking of championships, the first of our five title matches tonight is up next, with the
midwestern championship up for grabs as Dr. No Limit prepares to make his first ever PPV title
defense. He defeated Izz Amazing on a Saturday night card a couple of weeks back, tonight
we'll see if Amazing can put together a stronger outing with the stakes a little higher. We're
ready for the introductions...
MMP Midwestern Championship Match DR. NO LIMIT (C)
vs. IZZ AMAZING
With Amazing waiting in the ring, DNL made his way down the aisle,
accompanied as always by Zane and Charles. The trio set up the customary table on the outside
of the ring, but while Amazing's attention was diverted, DNL slid into the ring and nailed the
challenger with a spear. Before Amazing could catch his breath, DNL pulled him up and nailed
a backbreaker, holding Amazing over his knee and pressing down on his chin for additional
pressure. DNL then nailed a powerslam before setting Amazing on the top rope and setting him
up for a superplex, but rather than dropping him back into the ring, he dropped the challenger off
the top rope face first onto the floor below. Amazing was reeling and DNL sensed it, staying on
the challenger and never letting him get a second wind. After slamming Amazing into the ring
post, DNL dragged him over to where he had set up the table prior to the match and
chokeslammed Amazing right through it, landing him on a pile of debris as the crowd cheered.
He then rolled Amazing back into the ring and nailed the Limit Driver, but rather than going for
the pin, he pulled Amazing back to his feet and applied Big Daddy's Dreams!! Amazing was
fading quickly, and the referee soon stopped the match. DNL had retained the title, but also
sent out a message to would-be challenger Big Daddy Cash.
Wood: DNL's first PPV title defense is a succesful one, and I'm sure Big
Daddy Cash is going berzerk backstage after seeing his rival use the Big Daddy's Dreams
finisher to knock off Izz Amazing. DNL now moves on to Saturday Night Slams where he will
defend the belt against Masked Man X, and should he be able to retain the belt after this
weekend, a showdown with Cash could be on the horizon.
Brewer: Too bad for Izz Amazing, whose MMP career is apparently ready to come to an end.
His contract is up at the end of the month, and talks of renewal have been stagnant of late. With
no match signed for this weekend, it looks like we may have seen the last of Izz.
Wood: The first champion to defend his title has gotten the job done here tonight, now it's time
to see if the TV champion can match that accomplishment. Syndicate member "Stunning" Steve
Simon is set to face Hot Crimson in our next match, but before we go to the ring, we are being
joined once again for commentary by "Corrupt" John Korso, who will meet Daark later on
tonight.
Korso arrived at the broadcast table, set his vodka martini down in front of him, and
snatched the headset off of Ray Brewer.
KORSO: I'm shocked that your toupee didn't come with the headset, Ray. Using a stronger
adhesive nowadays? I'll tell you what, Jerry... I'm SICK of this HOT CRIMSON
character calling me night and day and sending me faxes and emails, begging for entry
into the SYNDICATE. Allow me to make it perfectly clear for you. Drop the Dungeons and
Dragons gimmick, shut your mouth and head back to the MMP's Training Camp because it's
apparent to me that your not on the level of ANY SYNDICATE member and I believe that
"STUNNING" STEVE SIMON, the GREATEST Television Champion the MMP has EVER
seen, is about to prove me right!
MMP Television Championship Match "STUNNING" STEVE
SIMON (C) vs. HOT CRIMSON
Crimson made his way to the ring first accompanied by Cup, who had been
unsuccesful in his MMP in-ring debut earlier in the evening. Perching himself on the top rope to
wait for his opponent, Crimson looked on as Simon made his way out with Kristin. The
champion stopped in the runway, shouting at some fans who were seated along the aisle. One
little boy that was the target of Simon's rant was in tears with Simon laughing in his face, but the
humiliation was short lived, as out of nowhere Crimson came flying off the top with a crossbody
that floored Simon even before he could make it to ringside. Pulling the champion up, Crimson
dragged Simon down towards the ring, slamming him face first into the steel ring steps before
rolling the man into the squared circle. Kristin angrily stormed after the two men, shrieking at
Crimson the whole way. While she was distracted, Cup snuck up behind Kristin and slapped a
pair of handcuffs on her before dragging her to the announce table and chaining her to the
broadcast location. Kristin tried to pull herself free as Korso shot up out of his chair and
confronted Cup, but before the two men could come to blows, a group of referees ran down to
separate them. Cup went to his corner and Korso re-took his seat at the announce position,
assuring the refs that there would be no further trouble. After being rolled into the ring, Simon
was able to get the advantage over Crimson for the first time in the match. By getting back to
his feet before Crimson rolled in, Simon was able to clear his senses and duck Crimson's
clothesline, grab the man into a full nelson, and turn it into a faceslam that drove Crimson hard
down into the canvas. With the champion now in control, SSS applied a standing toehold on
Crimson, wrenching on the foot and ankle for additional pressure. Crimson managed to roll
over to the ropes to force the break, but Simon didn't let up. As Crimson used the ropes to help
pull himself back to his feet, Simon laid into him with some kicks to the back of the leg before
dragging him out to the middle of the ring and lifting Crimson up in a piledriver. The challenger,
however, managed to counter the move, hitting Simon with a back bodydrop. Apparently
getting his second wind, Crimson nailed Simon with a dropkick before stepping down hard on
the champion's throat in a blatant choke hold as Cup again circled the ring and hurled insults at
the restrained Kristin. The referee started the count, but Crimson wouldn't let up. The official
finally had to pull Crimson off as SSS rolled out under the bottom rope to the floor, landing on
his feet right behind Cup. Spinning the manager around, Simon nailed him with a right hand
square to the jaw that put Cup down before Crimson reached out to the floor to pull his
opponent back to the ring. Crimson gave Simon a solid kneelift to the midsection and went for
the double arm DDT but Simon blocked it, nailing Crimson with a knee to the gut of his own
before hooking him in the Hollywood Plunge. The top of Crimson's head bounced off the
canvas as Simon made the cover, hooking the leg and scoring the three count.
Wood: That's two title defenses, and two champions retaining their titles so
far here tonight at Apocalypse. Steve Simon has retained the TV title, and now goes on to that
much anticipated matchup on Saturday Night Slams when he and The Joker's Child will finally
go one on one in a lumberjack match with Virus Richards serving as the special guest
referee.
Brewer: Crimson just plain looked outmatched here tonight. Ever since his arrival in the MMP,
Steve Simon has built up a very impressive record, one of the best I can recall ever seeing in this
company. Hot Crimson showed some flashes here tonight, but the experience advantage of a
guy like Simon is not something that can be easily overcome. A big win for the champ, as I'm
sure we are all looking forward to that showdown with Joker on Saturday night.
Wood: We've got a little taste of hardcore action coming up next as The Destroyer and Hyoga
are set to go one on one. Hyoga has impressed many insiders with his improvement since
returning from hiatus a few weeks ago, but The Destroyer is one hell of an opponent for any man
to face. In the past month the big man has pushed both Captain Patrick O'Conner and The
Bootlegger to the limit, with outside interference possibly costing him both of the two top
championships in the MMP. An interesting stipulation was added to the match a couple of
weeks ago when it was announced that should any member of The Cult interfere in the match,
Destroyer would forfeit the contest to Hyoga. Could that play a factor in the match? Has
Hyoga improved enough to take his game up a few notches here at Apocalypse. There's only
one way to find out, as we send it back to the ring announcer.
No Disqualification Match THE DESTROYER vs.
HYOGA
The massive Destroyer made his way to the ring first, honoring the
stipulations set out before him and coming to the ring with no Cult members at his side. As he
stepped through the ropes, a helicopter came flying over the stadium, lowering a cable towards
the ring. Attached to the end of the cable was a giant symbol of The Cult. Looking upward in
confused approval, Destroyer was startled when out from the bottom of the symbol came a
steady stream of a red mist that shot right into the big man's eyes! With his opponent blinded,
Hyoga came running down the aisle and slid into the ring, nailing Destroyer with a low blow
before catching him with a DDT. Destroyer was caught off guard by the opening flurry, and as
the helicopter headed off into the night sky, Hyoga hopped up on the big man's shoulders and
went for a huracanrana. Never an easy move to pull off against a man the size of Destroyer,
Hyoga was caught in mid air by his much larger opponent, who easily turned the move against
him. Carrying Hyoga over towards the top rope, Destroyer sent Hyoga flying out of the ring
with a powerbomb that caused the Geneva native to land back-first across the top of the
security railing. Clutching his back in obvious pain, Hyoga struggled even to crawl back towards
the ring. The referee, fearing a serious injury, quickly jumped out to the floor to ask Hyoga if he
would be able to continue. Destroyer didn't even wait for Hyoga to answer, quickly grabbing
his opponent and rolling him back into the ring under the bottom rope. Methodically stalking
Hyoga as he tried to pull himself up in the corner, Destroyer then laid into Hyoga with a series of
heavy punches and elbow smashes to the side of the head before pulling him out and nailing a
backbreaker. Hyoga's back seemed to snap in Destroyer's hands as he landed across the knee,
but that wasn't enough to appease the big man, who then pulled Hyoga up and applied a
bearhug. Hyoga seemed to have fallen limp in Destroyer's arms, and the referee's repeated
questions about whether he wanted to give up barely yielded a response. The referee checked
Hyoga's arm, which fell quickly twice, but on the third time Hyoga held on, struggling to prevent
the ref from stopping the match. Realizing the desperation of his situation, Hyoga used all of his
remaining strength to rake Destroyer's face and break the hold. As soon as the hold was
broken, Hyoga landed on his feet and immediately went to work with some quick kicks aimed at
Destroyer's kneecaps. The big man fell to one knee and Hyoga capitalized, jumping on
Destroyer's back and applying a cobra clutch. This time it was Destroyer who was struggling to
hang on, as his lights seemed to be fading quickly. With his opponent nearly out, Hyoga made a
questionable call in releasing the hold to try and go for a pin. Setting Destroyer up, Hyoga went
for a powerbomb on the big man, but even in a semi-conscious state, Destroyer's mass was too
much for Hyoga to lift and the Swiss star's back gave out, causing him to fall to the canvas.
After Destroyer shook off the cobwebs, he wasted little time in applying the Will Breaker. After
all the punishment his back had absorbed, Hyoga couldn't hold on and quickly tapped out, giving
the match to Destroyer by submission.
Wood: It looks like Hyoga hadn't quite made the strides he thought he had,
as The Destroyer makes quick work of him here at Apocalypse.
Brewer: Hyoga went for the kill right away, and that's something you just can't do against a man
the size of The Destroyer. A man that size has to be worn down gradually, make him tire himself
out by fighting a long match. Hyoga's hopes went down the tube the second his back struck the
top of the safety rail. And besides, I don't think there's a man in this fed that could powerbomb
Destroyer, let alone a man the size of Hyoga who has a bad back.
Wood: It's time for another championship match, although I'd be VERY surprised if this one was
as competitive as the two others we have seen tonight or the two that are still to come. The tag
titles are on the line next.
MMP Tag Team Championship Handicap Match THE
JOKER'S CHILD (C) vs. MR. BEUMONT & BRICK STEVENS
The CWO came to the ring first. Banjo Buzz was playing "White Wedding"
on his one-string banjo as the challengers made their way out. Brick was dressed as George
Achica while Beumont came out in Steve Simon style wrestling attire. William and Chinatown
Lee were out with the team, as was Richard, who was waving around a plastic baseball bat with
"Loui Slugger", spelled incorrectly, written on the side and yelling "I zap you with my sword" at
the fans. Joker then came down to the ring, flipping off the fans about ringside and wearing the
hat that now featured locks of both Steve Simon's and Kristin's hair. Beumont opened up for
the challengers, but Joker paid him no regard. He pushed Beumont to the canvas before
pointing out to the floor and telling Beumont there was a penny on the ground. While Beumont
leaned out under the bottom rope to try and find it, Joker kicked him in the behind, knocking
him out of the ring. Ponch then passed Joker a chair and the champion sat in the corner waiting
for Beumont to make the tag. After a few minutes Brick Stevens, tired out from the long walk to
the ring, finally made the tag and got into the match. Joker nailed Brick with a few kicks to the
midsection before deciding that he wanted Beumont after all and tossing Brick into the corner.
Beumont tagged back in and challenged Joker to a test of strength. The champion obliged and
the two locked up. Once the battle was on, Beumont quickly dropped to his knees, screaming
at Joker to let go. When Joker refused, Beumont screamed "I give, I give, the Stunning One
quits!" and the referee stopped the match with Joker retaining the belts.
Wood: So much to the surprise of no one, The Joker's Child has held onto
the Upstanding Citizens' tag team championship with a less than impressive win over members of
the CWO. Our next match will have huge ramifications for several people involved with the
MMP. It's time for the retirement match with Big Daddy Cash going one on one with Mack for
the final time. Either High Society or The Upstarts will be run out of the MMP depending on the
outcome of this match. Let's go to the ring for what will be the final match for either Mack or
Big Daddy Cash.
Retirement Match BIG DADDY CASH vs.
MACK
With Cash and Marvellous already at ringside, Mack came down with Y2K
and Starla to cheer him on. No Billy, no Buddies. The two men locked up but Mack didn't
waste any time, kicking Cash in the gut and taking him over with a vertical suplex. Cash was still
showing the effects of the injuries he suffered against Psychotic Sam a few weeks ago. Mack
stayed on him, stomping him in the chest before climbing to the second rope and deliveing a
kneedrop right onto Cash's midsection, the focal point of the injuries from which Cash was still
suffering. As Cash pulled himself up, Mack bounced off the ropes and delivered a dropkick to
the midsection before connecting with a DDT. With Cash down, Mack grabbed his opponent's
legs and went to the second rope once again, this time coming down with the Deez Nuts
Legdrop. Pulling Cash up, Mack then draped his opponent's throat across the second rope,
bouncing off the far side and jumping squarely on Cash's back while Billy Joseph, manager of
The Upstarts, made his way down to the ring with a steel chair in hand. Mack pulled Cash up
again and tossed him off the ropes as Billy wound up and nailed Cash across the back with the
chair! Cash went down hard, but all this had happened right in front of the referee! The ref
called for the bell, awarding the match to Cash by DQ and leaving The Upstarts out of a job.
Marvellous pulled his brother out of the ring and the two men headed to the back victorious as
Starla jumped in the ring with the others and started arguing with Billy. Billy claimed that he was
only trying to help out, but was quickly met with a stiff slap across the face from the now
unemployed Starla. Billy went to slap Starla back, but Mack stepped between the two,
distracting Billy while Y2K climbed to the top rope behing them where he dove off with a
corkscrew plancha onto the pile! The Upstarts started putting the boots to Billy before setting
him up for their tag team finisher, The Big Finishing Move. The trio all spit on Billy before
walking out for the final time.
Wood: So it looks like we have seen the last of The Upstarts here in the
MMP. Big Daddy Cash holds on for High Society, although not without a little inadvertent
assist from Billy Joseph, who I understand will now be trying to get his job back reporting for
the MMP.
Brewer: Ya, well, good riddance to them. Those guys never could get their act together, running
around like a bunch of goofs the whole time they were in the MMP, and any team that would
hire that imbecile Joseph as their manger, well, they deserve whatever fate they get. Billy was a
sub-par reporter at best, and now he can go off and find another line of work. Maybe he can
clear tables a truck stop or something.
Wood: Well, despite my collegues comments, I want to wish Mack and Y2K the best in
catching on somewhere else. Both guys had talent, they just tried to do things a little too quickly
and it would up costing them their careers before they even really got started. But, as they say,
the show must go on, and go on it will. At this time last week, it looked as if "Stupendous"
Steve Fermosa was going to be the next man to fall under the spell of The Cult Master's
indoctrinations. On Saturday Night Slams, it seemed that The Cult was getting ready to formally
invite Fermosa back into the fold. It all turned out to be a sham, a set up by Fermosa to
humiliate The Cult Master and his followers. Tonight, Cult Master is out for retribution as he
gets his shot at Fermosa, live here on MMP Apocalypse!
THE CULT MASTER vs. "STUPENDOUS" STEVE
FERMOSA
As the introductions began, a long red carpet was rolled out down the aisle,
leading the way out for the brash newcomer, "Stupendous" Steve Fermosa. Fermosa came out
with a lovely woman at his side, a woman who was carrying a gold plated mirror. The
introduction was cut short as "Carmina Burana" quickly replaced Fermosa's music and The Cult
Master, flanked by Harbinger, The Destroyer, and Daark, made his way towards the ring in a
long, elaborate ceremony that was visibly getting on Fermosa's nerves with it's length. Cult
Master slowly stepped through the ropes, but caught Fermosa off guard by going after him
quickly, nailing Fermosa with a series of European uppercuts and kicks in the corner that
brought Fermosa to the canvas. Enraged at his humiliation a few days ago Cult Master tore into
Fermosa, stomping him repeatedly in the chest before pulling him up off the canvas and tossing
him off the ropes, connecting with a running kneelift to the jaw. Fermosa went down hard
clutching his face and, after taking a moment to bask in the admiration of his followers, Cult
Master went back to work. Fermosa stumbled back to his feet and Cult Master went for a
hiptoss but Fermosa blocked it, landing on his feet and nailing Cult Master with a clothesline.
Pulling his Cult up off the mat, Fermosa locked on an abdominal stretch to wear his opponent
down while he caught his breath from the earlier onslaught. After holding the stretch for a few
moments, Fermosa partially released the hold and pressed his foot against the back of Cult
Master's knee to bring him down. Fermosa then went to work on Cult Master's back, kicking
and dropping knees across his opponent's spine before applying a half crab. Pulling back on the
leg for additional pressure, Fermosa had a look of overwhelming confidence on his face, feeling
that he had things well in hand. Inspired by the encouragement from his men on the outside,
however, Cult Master eventually mustered up the strength to crawl towards the ropes, grabbing
the bottom strand to force the break before crawling out to the floor. With Cult Master using
the apron for support, Fermosa stepped out to the outside, jumping down from the ring with a
flying axhandle from the apron. Cult Master saw him coming, and Fermosa was met with a stiff
shot to the midsection from his opponent, who seemed to be getting his second wind. After
slamming Fermosa face first into the steel ring post, Cult Master rolled Fermosa back into the
ring and nailed a sidewalk slam, but rather than going for the cover, Cult pulled his opponent
back up and set up for a piledriver. Fermosa blocked it, backdropping Cult over, but Cult
Master held on, trying to pull Fermosa over in a sunset flip. Fermosa nearly went over, but at
the last moment he dropped to the mat, pressing his knees on Cult Master's shoulders.
Reaching back to hook the legs, Fermosa held on for all he was worth as the ref counted
1...2...3!! The stunned crowd looked on in disbelief as Fermosa's hand was raised in victory.
The celebration would be short lived, as before long the other members of The Cult slid into the
ring and attacked Fermosa. Daark grabbed Fermosa in a fireman's carry, spinning him around
and driving him face first into the canvas with a faceslam before dragging him over and tying him
in the ropes as two of Daark's minions came down the aisle. With Fermosa struggling to break
free, one of the minions reached up with a branding iron and imprinted the emblem of The Cult
on his shoulder while the others helped Cult Master to the outside.
Wood: This has to be considered something of an upset. Steve Fermosa
has been in the MMP for only a few short weeks, and to come out and make his PPV debut
with a win over The Cult Master should make a lot of people in the back stand up and take
notice.
Brewer: This doesn't bode well for Cult Master, who in only three days will go back into the
ring, this time in a Hell in a Cell match with O'Conner that could be for the world title should the
Captain hang onto the belt tonight in the dangerous game match. He'll have to regroup quickly,
as I'm sure losing to a rookie wasn't in Cult Master's plans heading into the biggest match of his
career.
Wood: We have another championship match on tap next, but for this one we take you to a
small warehouse on the outskirts of the city. There, the MMP extreme championship will be
decided wth Psychotic Sam challenging Aries in a long anticipated showdown between two of
the most succesful men in MMP history. Our camera crews are set, so let's send you to the
warehouse.
MMP Extreme Championship Match ARIES (C) vs.
PSYCHOTIC SAM
Aries was waiting inside the warehouse with security on the outside holding
High Society and Family members back from getting in. Suddenly, behind Aries, Sam showed
up on top of a pile of crates, jumping down and pushing the pile over onto the champion. As
Aries pulled himself back to his feet, Sam grabbed one of the crates and slammed it over Aries'
head, knocking the extreme champion to the ground once again. Sam then straddled his
opponent, pounding Aries' head against the floor before getting off and wandering around in one
of his trances, mumbling to himself and grabbing his hair and face. This gave Aries the opening
he needed, getting back to his feet, grabbing and old push broom out of the corner and breaking
it over Sam's back. The champion choked Sam with the broom for a few moments before
pulling the challenger up and chokeslamming him on the cold concrete floor. With Sam down,
Aries walked out of the warehouse, leaving Sam to pull himself up as the sound of a reving
motor could be heard in the background. Suddenly, a car came speeding through the wall of the
warehouse, slamming into Sam and sending him flying back into a pile of old boxes. Aries got
out of the drivers' seat and stomped Sam's face before covering him for a two count. Not letting
up, Aries grabbed Sam and dragged him up onto the hood of the car where he nailed the Godly
Drop! Dragging Sam off the car to the pavement, Aries again went for a cover, but this time it
was interrupted by The Saint, who emerged from behind and old piece of machinery and tossed
a thermos full of boiling "holy" water into Aries' face. With his opponent blinded, Sam got the
momentum back. Pulling Aries over toward the car, Sam nailed a Psychotic Smash on the hood
before getting in and speeding the car toward the far wall. Slamming on the brakes just before
they hit, Sam held tightly onto the steering wheel as Aries was sent flying into the wall. Sam
made the cover, but surprisingly Aries was able to kick out. Not giving up, Sam pulled Aries to
his feet only to nail another Psychotic Smash before dragging him over and putting his legs
behind the back wheels of the car. Getting back into the car and throwing it into reverse, Sam
backed up over Aries' legs, sending screams of pain throughout the warehouse that could even
be heard by the men on the outside. Quickly jumping out of the car, Sam pulled Aries over
made the cover, this time scoring the three count. Sam grabbed the belt and left the warehouse
as paramedics came in to help load Aries into an ambulance.
Wood: We have a new MMP extreme champion, but I can't remember the
last time I saw something as brutal as running over a man's legs with an automobile. Some
people will do anything to win a championship, which Sam has done for the sixth time in his
career by capturing his fourth extreme title.
Brewer: That guy's insane, there's no doubt about it. Now do you see why I've always wanted
him thrown out of the MMP and locked in a small closet somewhere? He may have just
crippled one of the top stars the MMP has ever known, all in the name of winning a title. That
goes beyond wrestling, we're talking about a man's life. Who knows how badly those legs are
hurt? They may be injured beyond repair.
Wood: We'll try to get you an update on Aries' condition before we go off the air tonight, but for
now we send you back to the ring here at Shea for one final time tonight. With the dangerous
game match taking place outside of the stadium, we have but one match left here at the park this
evening, pitting The Syndicate and The Cult head to head as John Korso and Daark, formerly
known as Clay Moore, meet one on one for the very first time.
"CORRUPT" JOHN KORSO vs. DAARK
Daark made his way out first, obviously in a foul mood after the upset of his
leader at the hands of Steve Fermosa earlier in the evening. Without the usual minions by his
side, Daark rolled under the bottom rope into the ring and waited patiently in the corner,
focusing on the task at hand. Korso then came down to his Deftones entrance music, flanked
not only by Daphne, but also by two fellow Syndicate members - George Achica, who was
wearing an old Clay Moore t-shirt, and the reigning MMP TV champion, "Stunning" Steve
Simon. With the introductions out of the way, neither man wasted in any time in going after the
other, with Korso gaining the early advantage with a series of chops to the chest that backed
Daark into the corner before connecting with a sequence of kicks to the ribcage. A hiptoss took
Daark off his feet and out towards the center of the ring, where Korso delivered a kneedrop to
the midsection before sending Daark out to the floor. Achica and Simon backed away as
Korso followed his opponent out, but Daark quickly grabbed onto Korso and thrust him into the
safety rail where he delivered a series of chops of his own. After some quick open hand thrusts
to the throat Daark rolled Korso back into the ring, waiting for Korso to get back to his feet
before nailing him with a flying lariat off the ropes. With Korso down, Daark ferociously went
after his fallen foe with several kneedrops to the temple before pulling him up, raking his face,
and climbing to the top rope for a flying bulldog. Daark's speed and quickness advantage was
starting to show through and he went to the top rope for yet another offensive attack, this time
coming off the top with a diving headbutt. Korso, however, rolled out of the way at the last
second, sending Daark crashing face first into the canvas and giving Korso a chance to get his
second wind. Daark pulled himself up but Korso was waiting on him and The Syndicate
member was all over him, hitting him immediately with a DDT before stomping Daark repeatedly
all over the upper body. With things looking bleak for Daark, two of his Cult minions started
down the aisle to back up their mentor. The arrival didn't stop Korso, who nailed Daark with a
powerbomb before dragging him over to the corner and tying him upside down in a tree of woe.
Backing away to the opposite side, Korso charged in with an avalanche on the prone Daark, but
one of the minions stepped in, unhooking Daark's foot from the top turnbuckle and causing
Korso to hit sternum first against the cornerpad. Both men were down once again. As they
started to pull themsleves up, both Korso and Daark looked out to their respective corners for
encouragement, and the fans that filled the stadium were really starting to get into it. Korso
charged but Daark was ready, catching Korso in a fireman's carry and hitting a spinning Samoan
drop. He then grabbed Korso and nailed a German suplex, holding it in a bridge and nearly
scoring the fall, but Korso kicked out at a count of two. With things turning in Daark's favor,
George jumped up on the apron, grabbing the attention of the referee. Climbing up on the
opposite side, Steve Simon reached over the top rope and grabbed Daark's arms, holding him in
position for an attack from Korso. Reaching out to the floor, Korso took Daphne's spiked heel
shoe and charged at Daark, but the man ducked out of the way and the heel struck Steve Simon
square in the face. This caused Korso to hesitate, and allowed Daark to hook and nail the
Whispered Prophecy! Hooking the leg, Daark shouted over at the referee who pulled himself
away from George to count the 1...2...3.
Wood: A big win for Daark, but perhaps an even bigger win for The Cult.
After The Cult Master's upset loss at the hands of Steve Fermosa Daark needed to come up
with a strong performance against a top opponent and he did exactly that, giving The Cult wins
in three out of four matches this evening and solidifying their position as a serious threat in the
MMP.
Brewer: Members of The Cult have been very inconsistent lately, winning matches while fighting
as the underdog but losing when they have been expected to win. A win over a man with John
Korso's standing has to help their cause, and I have to say it looks good on that obnoxious son
of a bitch to get beat right there in the middle of the ring. And let me tell you, Korso, the next
time you come out here running your mouth like you have been over the past couple of weeks,
you'll be leaving in an ambulance.
Wood: Damn it, Ray, why can't you just sit out here and do your job? Quit trying to re-live the
glory days and starting these stupid feuds with today's stars. That's not what you're here for.
What these fans are here for is to see tonight's main event tag team match. Both the world and
universal titles will be on the line when Patrick O'Conner and The Ryno team up to face The
Bootlegger and Virus Richards on Gene Barlotta's private island in a dangerous game match.
Anything goes, one fall to a finish. Our cameras are ready, the referee is in position, and the
satellite feed is in perfect working order. With that said, let's send you to our main
event.
Dangerous Game Match CAPTAIN PATRICK O'CONNER &
THE RYNO vs. THE BOOTLEGGER & VIRUS RICHARDS
With the referee waiting by the docks, a cabin cruiser pulled up carrying the
members of the first team. The crowd at Shea errupted in cheers as they watched on the
scoreboard video screen as O'Conner and Ryno walked ashore. O'Conner handed the world
title belt to the referee, possibly for the last time. A loud noise could then be heard overhead. A
heavy breeze covered the island as a helicopter came in for a landing on a designated landing
pad a few hundred yards away. Stepping out of the chopper where Syndicate members Virus
and Bootlegger, whose arrival drew a loud chorus of boos from the capacity crowd watching on
from New York. A group of Bootlegger's henchemen also got off the aircraft and were sent
ahead into the woods, though extra MMP officials were not far behind. The four men wasted
little time in engaging one another, with the bell sounding in New York to signify the official start
of the match. Virus and O'Conner, two men with a history that reaches back over most of
1999, hooked up while Ryno and Bootlegger, two of the three men set to meet in a triple threat
ladder match on Saturday night, traded blows back and forth. O'Conner got the upper hand on
Virus, nailing him with rapid kicks to the body, but that advantage was short lived as Virus
countered with a very basic rake of the eyes to turn the tide. After landing three consecutive
right hands to the side of the head, Ryno charged Bootlegger with a clothesline but the universal
champion ducked, turned, and picked Ryno up, hitting a fallaway slam that sent Ryno hard into
the trunk of a very thick tree. The four men battled into the jungle, drawing another ovation from
the audience at Shea. With the Syndicate members in control, Virus grabbed the fallen
O'Conner by the legs and slingshot the world champion directly into a tree, a move that
shattered O'Conner's nose on contact, spilling blood out both nostrils as a result. Not letting up,
Virus wrapped his legs tightly around O'Conner's neck, trying to choke the life out of the
Captain while Bootlegger took a similar approach with Ryno, finding a particularily large branch
in amongst the vegetation and pressing it down with all his weight across Ryno's throat. After a
few moments of choking Ryno down, Bootlegger shouted over to Virus something that was
muffled and that the cameras didn't pick up. The message, however, was clear, as both
Syndicate members relinquished their chokeholds and switched targets. The two men with titles
on the line hooked up while Virus went after Ryno. The brief interlude, however, gave
O'Conner an opening, allowing him to reach into his belt and pull out his trusty shileleagh club.
A club shot to the forehead sent Bootlegger reeling back into a tree before a legsweep from
O'Conner snapped Bootlegger's head back against the trunk and sent the universal champion to
the ground. Ryno was having similar success against his new opponent, nailing Virus with an
uppercut below the belt before connecting with a stiff backbreaker that nearly broke the tag
team champion in half. The match continued deeper into the jungle, heading towards the hidden
lagoon. O'Conner pulled Bootlegger up and dragged him towards the water, but Bootlegger
regained his senses, raking O'Conner's eyes and applying a sleeper hold. Realizing that this
could be the end, the referee quickly checked on O'Conner, but the Captain's never say die
attitude kicked in now more than ever, and the world champion refused to go down. Sensing
that the time for victory might not be at hand, Bootlegger released the hold and simply ran
O'Conner face first into another tree, allowing him to fall off a short cliff and onto the sandy
shores of the water. While Ryno pounded on Virus, something was happening in the water. A
man was coming out. It was The Masked Lard!!!! The sight of the big man grabbed the
attention of The Ryno, who let out a bit of a laugh at the look of distress that quickly covered
Bootlegger's face. The distraction, however, gave Virus an opening. He took full advantage,
nailing Ryno with a back suplex that rocked his head back on the unforgiving land. Bootlegger
pulled O'Conner up as the Lard advanced on him, submarine sandwich in hand. Pulling back
the wrapper and tossing a piece of a sandwich away, the Lard showed that inside the wrapper
was not food, but your basic red brick. Then came the shot heard 'round the world. Grabbing
the brick in his pudgy hand, the Lard nailed O'Conner square in the forehead, knocking him
clean out! Bootlegger patted Lard on the back for a job well done, and sent him back to the
house for feeding time. As the Lard plodded out through the woods, Virus and Bootlegger
stood proudly over their two fallen opponents. Ryno was starting to stir, but O'Conner lay
motionless. To decide which man would pin O'Conner and become world champion, Virus and
Bootlegger engaged in a game of rock, paper, scissors. Bootlegger shot out scissors, but Virus
whipped out a rock. The two then shook hands, agreeing that Virus would be the man to bring
the title back to The Syndicate, but before going for the pin, Virus said he wanted to hit one
more move. Bootlegger gave him the OK, and Virus climbed up the bank and up into a tree
that hung out over the lagoon. Looking down on O'Conner, Virus jumped out with a frog splash
to finish O'Conner off...but the Captain moved out of the way! Virus fell nearly fifteen feet to the
hard ground below, landing face first in a heap of sand. Bootlegger stomped O'Conner twice,
but before he could attempt a cover, Ryno came up on him from behing and delivered the Ryno
Horn! With his last ounce of strength, O'Conner rolled Virus over and covered him with one
limp arm for the three count. The crowd at Shea went berzerk! Even though he may have been
seconds away from capturing the universal title, Ryno rushed over to O'Conner to help him up
and celebrate the win. The referee handed O'Conner his world championship belt and raised
the hands of both O'Conner and Ryno as the screen fades to black.
