Before the tournament, this was reargded as the big game. These were supposed to be the top 2 teams in the 9th grade. Neither team came into the game on their best form. Tet 5 lost to us in their first game and won their 2nd game by way of a very controversial penalty in stoppage time. Tet 1 came in with 5 points from 3 games, 2 less than expected. They had not convinced in their earlier performances. So, a game that both teams needed to win.
The game started with no sign of a goal. For the first 5 minutes no team got close to either goal. This of course was good for us (Tet 2), a 0-0 draw was exactly what we wanted. Towards halftime each team spurned a couple good chances and the half ended 0-0.
2 minutes after the beginning of the 2nd half, Tet 1 got their best chance so far but Maor cleared the ball off the line. Two minutes late Maor threatend at the other end, his one timer from 8 meters caught by Genia. "Sign of a quality keeper. Made it look so easy" (Andy Gray, FIFA RTWC 98). In the 16th minute Tet 5 finally got their goal. A mix up in Tet 1's defense allowed the ball to bounce up and hit Daniel on the head. The ball went in, 1-0. Tet 1 had one more good chance but the goalie saved. That's how it ended. Tet 1 have finished their games and are in danger of being the 4th place and playing the 1st place team in the semi-final.
