League News

TRADE DEADLINE APPROACHING!!  This is not mentioned in the rules, but it makes sense.  Any league should have a trade deadline to prevent teams out of the playoffs from dumping their stars for future talent.  Some of that is ok, but since I can't be sure who will return in this keeper league, I can't allow an outright dumping.  I would have liked to have one probably this week, but that's too short of notice.  Let's make November 6 at noon Eastern the trade deadline.  You can make add/drop transactions up until the playoffs, but we need to end trading.  There haven't been many, so this shouldn't affect too many of you.  If you have a strident objection, let me know.  If I get enough, I'll call it off until we agree on what the policy should be.

Speaking of the playoffs, we're ten total games away (4 combined weeks + 2 pro only weeks).  I'll now add a playoff watch so that you can see where your team stacks up and what needs to happen.

In case you're wondering why I pick such weird colors for the synopsises below, I've assigned each team a color (helps me keep them straight).  The color pick usually has something to do with your favorite team, something about your team name, etc.  If you win, the box is your color only.  If it's a split, one of you is the box and the other is the text.  Your color is also evident on your team name on the Rosters page.

Tigers sweep Republic (137/76 to 84/57)

The Auburn Tigers (9-6) are on a remarkable run.  They swept the Republic (4-11) and have the highest-scoring pro team in the league.  Since the first two rounds of the playoffs are pro-only, this team may be unstoppable.  Box Score

Valpariso Chili Peppers creep over Canadian border for sweep (116/90 to 112/86)

The Peppers (8-7) won both games by four points each.  The Canadians (5-10) could have used the production of one of the least-known weapons in college; Beasley of Kansas State.  Box Score

Sassy Boyz lock up Outlaws (99/80 to 80/75)

The Sassy Boyz (9-6) used its small-college lineup to wrap up the college game and was powered by its rookies (Warner and James) to win the pro side.  The Outlaws (4-11) find themselves four games out of the playoffs and needing a major run to make it.   Box Score

One Nation sweeps lively Bunnies (137/94 to 102/66)

In contrast to the Tigers, One Nation (10-5) has the highest-scoring college team and the most total points.  The Bunnies (4-11) had an above- average week, but now are 4 games out of a playoff spot in last place.  Box Score

Collegians almost double up Midgets (144/82 to 79/34)

The Career Collegians (8-7) crushed the Midgets (6-9) as the Midgets had bad performances by all of its pros and the Collegians poured on the points on the college side.  After leading the division for most of the early season, the Midgets find themselves in a hole.  Box Score

Jungle Pirates exterminate Killer Bs (106/64 to 48/63)

The Pirates' (14-1) tried to solidify its pro lineup by trading away one of its best college RBs for a pro RB.  The Killer Bs (9-6) had most of its players disappear and hope to recover next week.  Box Score
