Pavel Bure-History
History on the Russian Rocket
Pavel
played hockey for the Soviet Red Army team for 3 seasons, before he
was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League Draft
in 1991. Here is a picture of Pavel playing for the Soviet Red Army team.
He was #12.
Pavel immediately signed with
the Canucks and immediately made
an impact on the success of the team. In his rookie season, Pavel won the
Calder Trophy for the Rookie of the Year. Not only did he lead his team in
scoring, but he became an idol of many young hockey players. When Pavel
got the puck, people would have no choice but to be on the edge of their
seats. And when the fans were on the edge of their seats, they knew the
next step would be to rise and cheer. Pavels amazing speed to break
through the defense and go right on in on the goalie is one which is not
exhibited anywhere else in the NHL. Every goalie hates the Russian Rocket
and when he approaches on a breakaway with fire in his eyes, the
goalie doesn't have a chance. Pavel is amazing and is the reason for the
Canucks success.
