How
I Spent My Summer Vacation: Day 9
Saturday June 27, 1998
The second to last day in France leaves us with only twelve hours to really tour Paris.
What to do? What to see? Gotta start with a view of the Eiffel Tower! After
the obligatory tower on the head pose and scuffling with the mechanical bird
vendors, its back on the bus and on to the Louvre.
This was where we really put the Griswald family vacation
tour in overdrive.
The
Mona Lisa was a crowded little exhibit. People were crawling over each other to get near
her.
After the Lourve we went to Notre Dame where Charlemaine still rides.
Next we took the boat
taxi down the river to the Eiffel Tower. The view was awsome, but it started to rain on
us.
Next, we
trotted a couple miles down the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe, where we got to see
a veteren's parade. Those old dudes really planted some heavy duty kisses on each
other's cheeks.
After that excitement we actually found a Chili's and I had an $18 hambuger... Hey,
it was on the Champs Elysees!
This
is the Hotel de Ville where we watched the 2nd round game
v
with a whole bunch of Brazilian fans a few Chileans and a
few French.
Well this is actually the last day of the vacation. The next morning has us going to the airport(after seeing off two of the youngsters who proved that you CAN get incredoubly ill on only 7 or 8 beers.)and spending 8 hours on the first flight. Finally made it home about 16 hours after leaving Paris. Can't wait til next Cup!
Until the next Cup, let me know what you thought of the trip.
