Ethel Gibbons came home early one day and found her husband Phonse in bed with a young woman. Needless to say, she threw a fit and was about to storm out the door, when Phonse insisted that before she leave, she allow him to explain how this all came about.

Ethel agreed.

Phonse explained, "Tis like dis Ethel me maid, I was drivin' down da road in me truck, when I seen dis poor young soul wit 'ardly any clothes on 'er back, starvin' da death, she wus da pitcher of poorness. I felt so sorry fer her Ethel I had to pick 'er up an' 'elp 'er out da best I could."

"I put togedder some supper fer 'er out of dat left over moose in da fridge dat you 'ad fergot about. She 'ad nuttin' on 'er feet so I gib 'er a pair of shoes dat you 'ad throwed to one side cause dey went out of style. 'Er pants wuz all wored out, so I got a nice pair out of da closet dat you growed out of."

"She wuz just about to go on 'er way, when she asked me 'is there anything else your wife dosen't use anymore?'"
