Max Morrisey had opened a small business in Outer Cove, that didn't do very well, and he eventually found himself in financal trouble. Afyter trying just about everything, he decided to pray to the Lord to get him out of the bind he was in.

"Please God," he prayed, "let me win the lottery Wednesday."

The winner of the lottery Wednesday was in Quebec, not Newfoundland. Max wasn't a winner.

He prayed again, "Please God, I've lost my business, and I might lose my house if I don't win the lottery Friday."

Friday's lottery draw came. Nothing for Max.

Undaunted, Saturday, Max prayed again. "Please God, I've lost my business and my house. I'm losing my car, and my kids are hungry. Please let me win the lottery tonight to get my life back in order."

This time, he got a response. Thunder and lightning began, the sky opened, and a booming voice said, "Max, you'll have to meet me halfway on this one. Buy a ticket!!!"
