Morris and Bruce were passing by a church one day when Morris suddenly announced, "I
haven't been to confessions for a while. I think I'll go in and get absolution."
In he went, while his buddy Bruce waited outside.
In the confessional, Morris acknowledged an adulterous affair and asked for forgiveness.
"I can tell by your voice," said the priest, "that this has happened more than once. I need you
to tell me the name of the lady involved."
Morris refused to tell him.
"I can't forgive you unless you tell me who it was," said the priest. "Was it Mrs. O'Riley down
the harbour?"
"I'm not tellin'," said Morris.
"Was it the Widow harrington's daughter?" the priest asked.
"Not tellin'," said Morris.
"I know, I know," said the priest, "It was Betty Murphy up the shore."
"For the third time," said Morris, "I'm not telling you!!!"
"Then," snapped the priest, "You'll get no absolution from me!!! Get out of my church!!!"
Morris left the church and went outside where his buddy Bruce was waiting for him. "Well,"
said Bruce, "Did you get absolution?"
"No," said Morris. "But I got three good leads."
