- Let's see...I haven't updated this website in over a year now, so please excuse any of the pages that are out of date. Well, this is Kristen's website. It's nothing special because I hate Java and html so I just do the basics. I graduated from Montpelier High School in May of 2002 with five other classmates. I know...pretty small huh? I'm now a Sophomore at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. I am still an Undecided major, so please, don't ask. I joined Kappa Alpha Theta, a sorority at UND. I love it and I'm the Technology Chair for this year. I'm in charge of the website, go figure, the girl who hates Java is updating a website that requires a bit more effort than this one. I also joined the Newman Center Choir, became a Peer Mediator, play in the University Band, became a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, was accepted as a full member into the Honors Program, and work at the Conflict Resolution Center as an Office Assistant. I truly fell in love with college this past year and can't wait to go back to GF in the fall. For the summer I'm at home, working in the Wal-Mart One-Hour Photo Lab as a Lab Technician and taking an on-line class. I'm definitely keeping myself busy.
- In high school I was in three sports: volleyball, dance, and golf. Volleyball is so incredibly fun!! I love it. I played back row all the time because I'm short, but to me getting saves and digs is the best part of the game. I almost broke my finger during my senior season trying to dig up one of Lindsey Shockman's spikes. Talk about pain! I played on an intramural team fall semester and we were awesome! We only lost one game until the playoffs. It was lots of fun.

- We're co-oped with Litchville-Marion for basketball and our team mascot is the LMM Rebel. I quit playing after 8th grade and our girls basketball team is pretty good but they haven't been to state since they were the M&M's (Marion-Montpelier Eagles). Our boys basketball team is awesome though. We went to state 4 times in 6 years [1995(6th), 1997(7th), 1999(6th), and 2000(7th)]. The basketball season is usually pretty exciting. Especially now that my brothers are old enough to play on the JV and Varsity teams.

- Dance was so much fun. We never had a team until my Sophomore year. It existed for three years, just long enough for me to graduate. I was the three year veteran my senior year. I miss it and I'm really sad that they couldn't come up with enough people to continue the program. Maybe next year...

It's awesome you have to try it out!!
- Golf was awesome! I only played my senior year and was kind of "forced" into it by my best friend and science teacher, the coach. I was awful when I started, but it payed off. When I went golfing with the guys in my class, I outdrove them all, from the guys tee!!
- Drama is another activity that I love. I miss that a lot. I've often thought about doing some kind of community play, but I'm just not quite sure I have time for it all. I miss choir too, not that I couldn't do that at college, but again, the time factor.
- One of my other favorite activities, if you can call it that, is competing in and helping with pageants. I've competed in four different programs: Pride of America, America's National Teen-Ager, USA, and Teen International. All of which I had a blast doing. I don't know...it's something about the stage I think. Anyway, they've made me a completely different and better person.
- I am in a family of 7. I have one sister and three brothers, we all live with our parents on a farm. My sister is two years older than me and just graduated from Northern State University. She's now going to Alexandria Technical College in the fall. Her and I get along really well and she's one of my best friends. My three brothers are all younger than me. One is a senior, another a 10th grader, and the youngest is in 8th grade. My mom is pretty cool, we've become much closer since I began competing in pageants. She was a bank teller until the bank she worked at closed. She is now the assistant cook at the school. My dad is great. I've been a Daddy's Girl most of my life, and I still haven't grown out of it. I hope I never will.
We have three pets, two of them indoor, and two outdoor. My sister has a cat named Nixon (no, not after the President). He's a really lazy cat but he can be sweet when he feels like it. I have a toy/miniature poodle named Pebbles. I miss her terribly! She's my little baby. There's a few pictures of her this site. She's very hyperactive and loves getting attention. She's mostly white with a little hint of apricot on her back. She loves playing tug-of-war with anyone who'll humor her. My middle brother has a lop-eared bunny, Mischief. He's pretty cute but was far cuter when he was little.
- I have many hobbies and of them all playing piano is definitely my favorite. I've been playing since I was in First Grade, approximately 14 years now. I accompany our church choir whenever I'm home, went to International Music Camp for piano, and took lessons at UND my Freshman Spring Semester. I also have played for lots of weddings and absolutely love it! So if you need a pianist for anything, just give me a call.
- I play clarinet in UND's University Band. I've played that since I was a Fifth Grader. I'm principle 2nd clarinet which really shocked me. I was expecting to be a 3rd clarinet, but it was a pleasant surprise. I'm going to be taking violin lessons this fall semester too. I'm really excited for that and can't wait to start learning. I have my great grandpa's old fiddle and we got it all refurbished and everything, now I finally get to start using it.
