DECISION DAY LOOMS ON KNEE
TOMORROW is decision day.
I'll go in for more testing on my left knee and then decide whether to have an operation.
I will probably see three doctors and also Vicki Bailey, who does a lot of work with me at
Davis Cup ties and whenever I'm
home in Australia, before deciding.
I came home earlier than planned because the doctors in Bermuda weren't able to give me
the advice I needed.
I can't really feel the problem in the knee at all at the moment, but if the soreness
comes back later in the year, it won't be a
great situation.
At this stage I'm keen to avoid surgery if I can. This soreness tends to come and go, but
it was serious enough to force me out
of the ATP tour world singles championships in Hanover next week.
If the doctors tell me I need an arthroscopy, it will be done straight away so that I can
have as much time as possible to be
ready for the start of the new season in Adelaide in January.
If I'm told I don't have to have an operation, I'll work through that and make sure I'm
ready to go after having a break.
I want to be right for the Australian Open in Melbourne in January because it's our grand
slam and such a big tournament for all
the Aussies.
