After Texas Thunder's incredible victory at the Michigan superspeedway, America's 43 favorite people are travelling to Bristol, Tennessee, where Tennesseein' is Tennebelievin'! We're talking short track, which means we're talking door-to-door racin'. We're talking a .50-mile track, where you can be four laps down one minute and leading the pack the next.

We all know who's the king of short tracks: Rusty Wallace. But the king is old, and although he did rack up a victory early in the year, he's been waning most of the season. Martin is healthy, and I wouldn't bet against him at this track. And Gordon is ready to win -- but can he? He'll have his hands full with that other guy from Indiana, and don't be surprised if Ricky Rudd is surprisingly strong this weekend.

Unfortunately, though, I think this is going to be Jarrett's show. He's a solid short-track driver, and he's just unstoppable right now. Expect him to win, and win easily.

The rest of your picks will be more fun, and not just because of Ricky Rudd. There's a couple of other older fellows who may get up close to the top. And there's a couple of Pontiac drivers who I think would make great surprise picks. Remember, lots of teams are thinking about getting new drivers, and some drivers are looking for new rides, so expect to see everyone putting on their best show. No one's going to try to protect their points at Bristol.

That reminds me -- in an unbelievable shock to the world, BellSouth is dropping Joe Nemechek at the end of the season. Actually, the car owner, Sabatco or something like that, has cut Joe loose. Sabatco will still be sponsored by BS. These happenings will be the focus of this week's controversial topic, so don't forget to wax philosophic in the comments. Now get to it!

Instructions

First of all, choose your name from the pull-down list. Then pick the names of the drivers that you think will finish in the top five. After that, you get to make your surprise pick, where you'll name a guy who isn't high in the points, but you think has a shot to get into this week's top five. It doesn't have to be one of the names you've already put in your top five. Now that the season is in full swing, let's use the current Winston Cup Points standings. Click here to check out the nicely done standings page at nascar.com. Remember, your surprise pick can't be any of the names listed in the TOP TEN of the points standings.

And hey, don't forget to pick a DNF. That's the guy you think will get a big fat Did Not Finish.

Click on the upside-down triangle at the right margin of each blank to see a list of drivers, then select a name. No typing necessary. Don't forget to tell me your name!

Controversial Topic of the Week

Our boy Nemecrash has been cut by his team's owner. Not BellSouth, mind you. Usually what happens is a team's sponsor will drop the team, as is the case with Ricky Rudd and Tide. What's the deal here? Why did they cut Nemechek? Who will they replace him with? Where will Joe go? Is this good for BellSouth, Sabatco, or Nemechek? You decide.
