her international debut with Romania in 1977 at age 13. She was a
member of the 1978, 1979 & 1981 Worlds teams & also a member
of the 1980 Olympic team. Emilia had her final competition in 1983
at the World University Games where she placed 2nd. all-around.
From 1977 to 1983 Emilia was one of the most talented & dependable
gymnasts on the Romanian team...& she will always be one of the
all-time greats for this amazing team. She retired in 1983 at age 19. In
1990, Emilia defected to Hungary & then in 1991, with the help of
an American couple, she came to the USA & began coaching at Gold
Cities Gymnastics in Grass Valley, California. Interrestingly, she now
goes by the name of Trudi instead of Emilia. On February 6, 1999
she gave birth to her first son.
