Breaking In By Brusier Bob

Updated April 28rd, 2001 Parts 1 to 3 are on another page, CLICK HERE to read them...

Its now Mid October, and we find out the bad news. The owners of the building want to put it up for sale, thus the renters (CCW and the Wall and Karate school) all had to find alternative locations by the end of October. I belive the Wall found another location, but there was no room for the ring to be shared. So we found an alternative location, the YMCA, but there would be no ring. It was tough to adjust to the blue mats(the 4'x4' squares with velcro). They are stiff and slide all over the place. There have been a many a time that I would smack my knuckles on to the hardwood floor were the mats would have shifted. We continued to learn the basics and practice them over and over until we got them right.

I rememeber the worse injury I recieved while training, and that was with Nate. I was going for a quick arm drag, and WHAM our heads collided as my judgement was off. Nate didn't feel a thing but I sure did. Thank good for Tylonol :) . I was getting better and more confident on doing moves, my timing was getting better and things started to flow. I was now about early February, when I heard from the boys that a show was going to be in Chatham in late March and that I could possibly be wrestling. I agreed with Shawn and Mike Lutz that I would work that show. My trainers believed I was ready, and I did too.

March 23rd krept up fast as this was the confirmed date of the show. Each training session prior to this show was very important. I had to prepare myself mentally for this as this would be my first match. I didn't want to make lots of mistakes, I just wanted to do what I am suspost to and do it right.

Chris and I left London about 4pm to get to the CAW Hall for 5pm, figuring that the ring would be there, set up so that we could use the ring to get use to the ropes since we hadn't been in a ring since five months prior. We arrrived there to an empty hall with no ring. Immediatley we thought that the show had been cancelled and we drove down for nothing. We decided to walk around and we found Mike and he said that the ring was on the way, and that I could put my gear in the locker room.

About 20 mins later the ring showed, and it took about 1 1/2 hours to set it up. The ring was solid but the ropes, they were a sight to see. They were unuseable. I think the show started late but I could see the crowd entering into the lobby. I remember a lady(i think she worked at the bar) asking for wrestler autographs. She approach me as she had a poster for the show, I looked at it and she asked me who I was. My picture wasn't on the poster, but I signed the poster as the I was the Avenger III.

Chris and Tim K. manned the video camera (thanks to Shawn and Nate for renting it) and left to go get ready. It was time for me to go. My heart was racing, but I had prepared so much for this day. All the hard work and pain to get to this point has made my dream come true. I knew my dad was with me that day. I was waiting for my name to be called, and this is it. I am a professional wrestler.

I wasn't sure how big the crowd was or how reactive they were. So I waited patiencely for my name to be called behind the entrance door. "HERE IS THE AVENGER 3!!!!" I ran in as I was wrestling the evil Mantis X from Tiawanna(sic), North Dakota. I was the fan favourite, but no one has seen the Avenger 3 before, so I had to get them behind me as the goodguy.

I climbed into the ring, and looked around to the crowd. It was great! I had the clapping going to get the crowd going. Some reacted, and some didn't. But it was awsome!

Its such an adrenalin rush, that I didn't feel to much pain till after the match. Mantis X was able to hide his chain from referee Ronnie J well enough that he used it like three times during the match. About five minutes into the match, Mantis X did the unexpected and unmasked me. Then the crazy man placed my mask onto the ref! As I tried to retrieve it from the ref as he rolled around the ring being masked, Mantis X then cheapshotted me from behind. He then dominated the match, choking and eye gouging me as I scrambled in the ring to get my wind. He sets me up for a belly to back suplex and my back of my head crashes down to the mat. I did get in a powerbomb and it was my turn to heat up. The crowd cheered me on, and I was building momentum. The fans were yelling for me to take Mantis X mask off, I was working on his arm, wrenching it for another arm twist and bam out of nowhere a closed fist to the jaw sent me to the mat. It was now about 15 mins in to the match, im was getting blown up, then ref went for the count and i barley got my sholder up. Mantis X had his back to me complaining to the ref, I got up and school boyed him, trying for the suprise win, but I didn't have enough strength to keep him pinned, I turn around and BAM! I see stars as I hit the mat, I get pinned. Its over as the ref counts 1-2-3. I slowly get up and didn't realize this till I saw the tape, but Mantis X used his chain in the last knockout punch, as the ref raise his arm in victory, he accidently dropped the chain, the ref saw it and thus, a reversal decision goes to the Avenger 3.

With arm raised in victory, I staggered back to the locker room. I thanked all those who got me there. I will never forget my debut on March 23 in Chatham Ontario. But there is one thing that I will never forgot that occured after the show. I was in the lobby (with an ice bag to the side of my left jaw) just as the crowd was exiting the ringside area. I noticed and overheard a father and son talking. "Is that the wrestler you saw earlier?" the dad said to his son who must have been like six years old. "Yes", the son said in a shy voice. "Do you want to meet him?" From the corner of my eye I could see them aproaching me. I then put my attention to them and shook the son's hand, and asked him if he liked the show. He said he did and then he told his dad that my hand was cold and wet, because of the ice bag.

I felt I did right and that I had flashback of when I was that small and my dad and I approached good ol' Jake Roberts and was told to F'Off. What Jake did to us wasn't right, and I swear on my fathers grave that I will never do that to the fans. I was suprised how quickly that the night was over, but really my career has just begun! Its going to be a tough year of learning still, but its going to be worth it! I thank those who got me where I am today and I thank my girlfriend Maria for beleiving in me.

Thanks for reading this,
