UNITED HOCKEY LEAGUE RELEASES 2000-01 SCHEDULE

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO . . . The United Hockey League today released its schedule for the 2000-01 season. The 592 game schedule, the largest in the League’s ten-year history, will begin on Friday, October 13 and conclude on Sunday, April 1. Game numbers and start times will be released at a later date.

The UHL will feature 16 teams for the League’s 10th Anniversary Season with the addition of the Elmira (NY) Jackals, Lehigh Valley Xtreme (Allentown, PA) and New Haven (CT) Knights.

Three teams, Elmira, Lehigh Valley and the Port Huron Border Cats, will take the ice in newly constructed buildings. The Jackals will play their first 11 games on the road before debuting at the Coach USA Center on November 11. The Border Cats will play their first 19 games on the road before debuting at the Kimball Entertainment and Sports Center on December 3. The Xtreme will play its first 10 home games at Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, PA before debuting at the Allentown Sports and Entertainment Center on January 5, 2001.

The League will break for the Fourth Annual All-Star Classic on Monday, January 29 and resume play on Thursday, February 1. The location of the 2001 UHL All-Star Classic will be announced at a later time.

The UHL schedule consists primarily of weekend dates as 75.7 percent of the games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
