MOHAWK VALLEY'S CHARBONNEAU NAMED UHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO . . . The United Hockey League announced today that Missouri River Otters left wing Kiley Hill has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Mohawk Valley Prowlers goaltender Patrick Charbonneau has been named UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 12, 1999.

Hill finished the week with seven points (5-2) and a +5 rating in three games. On Wednesday against Flint, he scored two goals in a 4-3 shootout loss. Returning home on Friday with the River Otters having the opportunity to set a League record for consecutive home wins to start a season, Hill recorded three points including two power play goals and an assist. Missouri won its ninth straight home game (5-4). In the final game of the week, a 5-2 victory over Rockford on Saturday, the 25-year-old native of Val Caron, Ontario registered two points (2-1). Despite missing 12 games while recovering from testicular cancer surgery, Hill is tied for sixth on the River Otters in scoring with 14 points (10-4) in nine games. Since returning to the lineup on November 27, he has 12 points (9-3) in seven games.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack left wing Bobby Cunningham, Asheville center Brent Gretzky, B.C. right wing Jason Norrie, Flint defenseman Gary Roach, Fort Wayne right wing Kelly Hurd, Knoxville center Trevor Jobe, Madison left wing Jim Duhart, Mohawk Valley forward Frederik Last, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Quad City center Hugo Proulx and Rockford right wing Sheldon Gorski.

Charbonneau finished the week with a 2-0-1 record a 1.67 GAA and a .952 save percentage. He began the week stopping 26 of 27 shots against B.C. as the Prowlers ended the Icemen’s 10-game winning streak on Friday with a 6-1 win. The following evening, Charbonneau again allowed just one goal and stopped 28 shots but B.C. was able to pullout a victory in the shootout (2-1). The 25-year-old native of St. Jean, Quebec, finished the week with a 45-save outing against the Asheville Smoke on Sunday. The Prowlers defeated the Smoke 4-3 in a shootout. On the season, Charbonneau has a 4-3-1 record with a 2.63 GAA and a .918 save percentage. He ranks fourth in the UHL in GAA.
