ALL STAR TEAMS ANNOUNCED

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO . . . The United Hockey League announced today the rosters for the 2000 UHL All-Star Classic to be held in Muskegon, MI on February 2. Each member club is represented by a minimum of two players, one selected by the fans and the other by the team’s coach. The remaining five skaters and both goaltenders of each 21-man team were selected by the All-Star coaching staff.

The Flint Generals, who own the UHL’s best point percentage (.773), are represented by a League high six players. The Missouri River Otters have five All-Stars followed by the Muskegon Fury, Quad City Mallards and B.C. Icemen with four representatives each.

EAST ALL-STARS

The East All-Stars selected by the fans include: defenseman Stephan Brochu (Adirondack), left wing Peter Cermak (Asheville), right wing Patrice Robitaille (B.C.), defenseman Nick Stajduhar (Flint), center Dan Myre (Knoxville), left wing Nic Beaudoin (Mohawk Valley), and center Mike Maurice (Port Huron).

The remaining members of the East All-Star team are: Adirondack center Alexei Deev; Asheville center Brent Gretzky; B.C. right wing Chris Grenville, goaltender Dieter Kochan and defenseman Yevgeny Shaldybin; Flint right wing Don Parsons, left wing Bobby Reynolds, goaltender Mark Richards, defenseman Gary Roach and right wing Ross Wilson; Knoxville defenseman Doug Searle; Mohawk Valley center John Vecchiarelli; and Port Huron defenseman David Mayes and center Jay Neal.

Gretzky was selected the team’s Captain by the East All-Star Coaching staff of Doug Shedden (Flint), Greg Puhalski (Port Huron) and Brad Jones (B.C.). Maurice and Wilson were selected as Alternate Captains.

WEST ALL-STARS

The West All-Stars selected by the fans include: defenseman Frederic Bouchard (Fort Wayne), left wing Jim Duhart (Madison), defenseman Jeremy Rebek (Missouri), defenseman Scott Feasby (Muskegon), center Jeff Loder (Ohio), defenseman Garry Gulash (Quad City), and right wing Mike Figliomeni (Rockford).

The remaining members of the West All-Star team are: Fort Wayne right wing Kelly Hurd; Madison forward Matt Loen; Missouri center Colin Chaulk, left wing Lonnie Loach, defenseman Jeremiah McCarthy and goaltender Brian Regan; Muskegon goaltender Joe Dimaline, center Quinn Hancock and defenseman Mike McCourt; Ohio right wing Keith Osborne; Quad City right wing Kevin Kerr, center Hugo Proulx and left wing Glenn Stewart; and Rockford center Jason Firth.

Loach was selected the team’s Captain by the West All-Star Coaching staff of Matt Shaw (Quad City), Mark Reeds (Missouri) and Rich Kromm (Muskegon). Firth and Stewart were selected as Alternate Captains.

Firth and Kerr will both be making their third consecutive All-Star appearance. Brochu, Deev, Dimaline, Gulash, Robitaille, Stewart and Wilson all participated in the 1999 All-Star Classic. Gretzky was selected to play in last year’s game but missed it due to his recall to the Chicago Wolves (IHL). Figliomeni and Mayes skated for the 1998 UHL All-Stars while Beaudoin was a member of the Canadian National Team that participated in the Inaugural All-Star Classic.

Muskegon’s Athletic Trainer Phil Kopinski and Equipment Manager Dennis Harris will serve those positions for the West All-Star Team while Port Huron’s Athletic Trainer Brian Moore and Flint’s Equipment Manager Jason Schweinsberg will serve those positions for the East All-Star Team.
