Miles ahead of the rest
Antawn Jamison or Raef LaFrentz?
I don't care what everybody says. Miles Simon is my pick for Player of the Year. It reminds me of the same situation in the Big East a few years ago when everybody was talking about Allen Iverson or Ray Allen. Well, guess who turned out to be the best college player in that conference? John Wallace
Miles Simon is that X-factor. On any given night, he will take over the game when Arizona needs him most. He gets it done. He wins basketball games
Last season, he was the Michael Jordan of the NCAA Tournament. Simply put, he's the best clutch player in college basketball today. More so than any other star out there, he's the best guy who makes the other players around him better. He's the key to Arizona's success. He's very unselfish.
Simon doesn't care if Mike Bibby gets 25 and Michael Dickerson gets 22 and he only gets 17 because he also might get seven assists or five steals. Simon loves the challenge of the big games. He did it against No. 9 UCLA earlier this season, scoring 27 points.
The other night, the Wildcats were trailing their arch-rival Arizona State in Tempe by six points with 13 minutes remaining, and the "Wild Thing" took over. He finished the game with a team-high 23 points (on 10 of 16 shooting from the field) and three assists as Arizona pulled it out 83-82. It was vintage Simon.
