I've been reading for the board for about two weeks, and am a relative newcomer to the game, having played some 99 and now 2k. I've recently started a franchise with the Vikings at All Madden difficulty. I'm currently 8-0-0.
I attribute this success to my defense, who are currently -150 yards against the pass. This is due to one play (which I call anywhere outside my own 20, persistently). It bears some resemblance to GRID IRON GHOST's blood plays, and if it's been done before, then consider imitation the sincerest form of flattery.
The Play:
Nickel Formation.
MLB Blitz M
SLB Inside Front
RCB Lock Inside Front
FS Deep Zone- Half Right
SS Deep Zone- Half Left
LCB Lock Inside Front
RE Flat Zone R
DT Slant R
DT Slant L
LE Flat Zone L
NB Lock inside Front*
* The Execution:
Before the snap, shift the line, and place the MLB between the two tackles.
Switch to the NB, and man mark any TE or Slot which is on your side of the pitch. Line up inside and try to keep the middle covered, releasing your man if he goes into the flat. If there's no-one opposite you, then you can either blitz, sealing the QB's scrambling route, or sit 3/4 back to the safeties, cover the outside run, and cover the under, let the CBs and DEs cover the flanks.
(There's nothing quite like having a 6'6 280 pound giant between the QB and the WR)
The results: This play has results in 20 sacks/game, playing 8 minutes quarters. Example, vs SF 49ers, Steve Young completed 2 of 16, was sacked 22 times and he scrambled 3 times for 20 yards. Atleast two safeties (Lost count).
Let me know what you make of it
Sam.
