Game Summary: Yorktown

It all game down to who wanted it more. It looks like Yorktown did because they walked away with the win. Carmel got the early lead with a goal from Paul Hammer less than ten minutes into the game. Instead of trying to move the ball across the field and keep it on the ground, Carmel kept trying to play the long ball and they got shut down every time. Yorktown tied the game up late in the first half on a penalty shot, making it 1-1 at halftime. Carmel had their opportunities in the second half, but just couldn't convert. With only 20 seconds left in the game, Yorktown scored a goal on a blown offsides call by the ref. Yorktown went on to win 2-1. Brett Southard had an outstanding game in goal for Carmel. It was one of his best showings all season. Kyle Hengel, T.J. Helly and Paul Hammer showed tremendous effort and did all they could to try to give Carmel the win. It takes an entire team though, and Carmel just didn't have it today. Hopefully they can pull together and find a way to make it to sectionals on Saturday.
