Retreads Overcome Early Deficit To Boil Clams 56-40

After spotting the Clams an early 16-0 lead, the Retreads stormed back behind Edgerrin James 20 points (3 TDs and 100 yards) and Kurt Warner's 14 points (3 TD passes and 300 yards passing) to claim a 1st round victory over the Clams. The Retreads entered the 1998 playoffs as the top seed but bowed out in Round 1. Not so this year. The Clams made a valiant comeback effort with 13 MNF points but still fell well short of catching the Retreads. Marshall Faulk led the Clams with 9 points while Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith had 8 points apiece for the Clams. The Retreads will meet Grande To The Party this week for the 1999 OFFL Championship.

Iguanas Trip Over Tongues To Bow Out Peacefully 49-12

Grande To The Party entered its Round 1 playoff game banged up and without the services of RB Stephen Davis while WR Cris Carter was playing with a bad ankle. They were facing a team that had a 12-2 record before losing their season finale, a team that had boasted of how soundly it would lap the field and a team that had defeated the Party two weeks earlier. With all that going against them, the Party went out and put 49 points on the board and crushed the #1 seed Iguanas 49-12 to advance to next week's title game. The Party was led by K Al Del Greco's 11 points. Cris Carter and Charlie Garner scored 8 points each. The Iguanas got 8 points from RB Olandis Gary. Starting WR Terry Glenn was a gametime scratch with the flu and QB Drew Bledsoe suffered through his 6th straight dismal performance, validating the predictions of Coach Detwiler and other league watchers who claimed Bledsoe would never lead a team to a title. The Swami, although going with the Iguanas to win, had also stated that this was the week the Iguanas needed to fear. The Iguanas' 12 points was an all-time OFFL playoff low.
