Retreads Take Command In Howe Behind Warner, James |
Kurt Warner and Edgerrin James scored 14 points apiece to pace the Retreads to a 38-26 Week 13 victory over Montezuma's Revenge. Darnay Scott added one caught for a TD and K Pete Stoyanovich chipped in for four points as the Retreads improved their record to a division best 9-4. Warner started the scoring early with two quick TD passes to Zahir Al-Hakim and Roland Williams. Meanwhile, K Jason Hanson was doing his best to keep the Revenge close with a 50 yard FG in the first half. Hanson finished with 17 points, including a 2nd 50 yarder later in the game. However, the Revenge's only TD for the game came from the defensive side of the ball as the Colts returned a fumble for 6 points. WR Rod Smith scored 2 points on 100 yards receiving and QB Steve McNair tossed a 2 point conversion for the Revenge's final point total. The Revenge fall to 4-9 entering a Week 14 division game against the Bearded Clams while the Retreads can clinch the Howe division next week with a win over the Natural Mystics.

Clams Score League High 42 To Claim Three Point Win |
The Bearded Clams got points from six starters and held on for a narrow 42-41 victory over the Natural Mystics in a Week 13 game. The game was close throughout with neither team ever leading by more than nine points. The Clams got a big TD from Tim Dwight just when it appeared the Mystics were about to assume control. Then, with the score 35-26, Tim Brown caught two touchdown passes and Kevin Johnson scored the only Browns TD of the day for a 42-35 Clams lead. Mystics RB Tyrone Wheatley ran for 80 yards but could only watch as Tim Brown did the Raider scoring this week. Peyton Manning was held to a single TD pass. The Mystics got another defensive TD to counter a Clams defensive score by the Dolphins. Marshall Faulk ran for 100 yards (2 points) to help out even though he didn't score a TD. The difference, aside from Manning's quiet game, was in the kicking. Olinde Mare scored 10 for the Clams while John Kasay scored only 3 for the Mystics. Benched kicker Adam Vinatieri would have been the difference maker had he been given the start. He scored 7 in a Patriots win over the Cowboys. The Clams opened up a 1 1/2 game Dewey lead and need but one win in their last two games or else a single NFC Norris loss to lock up the division title and playoff spot. They'll try to accomplish that next week against Montezuma's Revenge while the deflated Mystics must try to rebound against the Retreads or else drop from the playoff picture in Week 14.

Late MNF FG By Anderson Gives Norris One Point Win 21-20 |
The NFC Norris waited until the very last possible moment before pulling it out but pull it out they did with a slim 21-20 victory over PMS, one week after PMS exploded for 42 points against the Natural Mystics. This game wasn't decided until the very end of the MNF game. The score was 14-10 PMS entering the game. The Norris took a temporary16-14 lead on a Donnie Abraham INT for a TD. PMS came back with a FG and 3 PATs by K Martin Grammatica. A pair of Gary Anderson PATs and lastly a FG put the Norris back up 21-20 and helped erase the missed FG Anderson had in the 1st quarter of the game. RickeyWatters fumbled four times for the Norris in addition to his one TD.. Brett Favre had one TD toss. The difference maker for the Norris was the interception return. It was the first defensive TD of the entire season for the Norris, coming at the most opportune time. PMS got 6 points from Marc Brunell, and 8 from Oronde Gadsden. Grammatica finished with 6. The Norris remain 1/2 game behind the Clam entering next week's game against the resurgent King of Dogs. PMS will play the Palace of Swords.

Dogs Vote For Extension To Season; Win Second Straight |
Who's the hottest team in the league? Why, it's the heretofore woebegone King of Dogs who put up 40 points for the second week running and parlayed that into back to back wins, this time defeating the Palace of Swords in a game that was never close. Jeff Blake, the perennial 2nd half performer, started the onslaught immediately with a TD pass to Carl Pickens. Blake eventually threw for 4 TDs and 300 yards, 18 points in all. The Dog wideouts had strong games with Tony Martin and Jimmy Smith both putting up 8 points. Kris Brown rounded out the Doggie scoring with a pair of field goals. The Swords were hit with the last second news that RB Dorsey Levens was a gametime scratch due to a broken rib. K Mike Vanderjagt did his best to keep the Swords in the game. He scored 14 points, including a Colts game winning 52 yarder. But by the time the MNF game started, the only other Swords TD was a Terrance Mathis touchdown reception. Ten points on Monday night narrowed the gap but the Dogs were never threatened. While the Dogs are only 2-11, they are suddenly hot and could knock the NFC Norris from playoff contention next week as the two teams square off in a Dewey division game. The Palace of Swords will play PMS next week.

Iguanas Take Care Of Business; Set Up Week 14 Showdown |
The Greenback Iguanas, 11-2 and already assured of a playoff spot, took a two game lead over Grande To The Party with a 42-28 victory in Week 13. The win was a bit tainted as the Steamers, Darkman of OFFL, failed for the third week running to submit a lineup. Had Coach Stamer bothered, Joey Galloway would have been worth another 6 points while K Todd Peterson would have started for Steve Christie who had a bye week. That would have been worth the extra three points needed to pull out a one point win. As it was, the Steamers played without the services of WR Rob Moore, TE Jay Riemersma, TE Stephen Alexander and K Steve Christie, four of the nine starters. Drew Bledsoe continued his late season swoon, getting shut out. However, the Iguanas had just enough offense as James Stewart scored 8 points and Eddie George had 6 for 14 combined RB points. TE Tony Gonzalez caught another TD, the Iguanas got their 3rd defensive TD in two weeks as Tamarick Vanover returned a punt for an 80 yard touchdown and Germaine Crowell scored 2 points for 100 yards catching. Mike Hollis tacked on 8 kicking points. The Steamers offense boiled down to two players: Amani Toomer caught 3 TDs and had 100 yards catching for 20 points while QB Jon Kitna tossed two TD passes. The Iguanas take a two game lead into next week's game versus Grande To The Party. The only way the Iguanas don't win the division is if they lose two in a row while the Party wins their last two games. The Steamers will play the Strange Highways next week.

Highways Find Going Smooth In Shutting Down Party 41-12 |
The Highways exploded from the locker room with 17 points within the first 17 minutes and soundly ended three years of frustration against Grande To The Party with an old fashioned don't-take-it-personally ass kicking. The win ended a four game losing streak to the Party and improved the Highways to 7-6, still mathematically alive in the Howe division. They got quick TDs from each RB, Joe Montgomery and Cory Dillon, almost simultaneously, followed by a Brett Conway FG for those 17 points. From there, they just kept adding to the score. Dillon finished with 14, Montgomery had 8, Herman Moore scored his 1st TD of the season, Brad Johnson had 4, and Isaac Bruce and Terrell Owens each had 100 yard games.Only Freddie Jones and the defense failed to contribute to the bottom line. What's more, the Highways left points on the bench (Patrick Jeffers 8; Keyshawn Johnson 6). The boxscore was much cleaner for Coach Will. Cris Carter's 6 points and 2 FGs from Al Del Greco summed up the Party scorecard. The Highways play the 3-10 Stanley Steamers next week while the Party plays the Greenback Iguanas.
