PMS Halts Swords Streak At Six; Gains Dewey Ground

PMS built a 35-23 lead entering Monday night and cruised to a 43-25 victory over the Palace of Swords, ending the Swords' winning streak at six and picking up a much needed game in the Dewey division. With the win, PMS closed to within one game of the Swords. Lamar Smith led the way for PMS with 14 points while Peyton Manning added 11. Martin Gramatica had 10 for PMS, who never trailed. The win is the first in the division this season for PMS and is their 3rd in a row overall. For the Swords, Olindo Mare had 11 points and Curtis Martin had 6. The Swords are now 7-3 entering their Week 11 game versus the Natural Mystics. PMS, 6-4, take on the reeling Montezuma's Revenge next week.

Beuerlein Plunge Sinks All World; Norris Gains Ground

Steve Beuerlein dove over the goal line for a two point conversion in the 4th quarter of the Sunday night game, breaking a 32-32 tie and giving the NFC Norris a late 34-32 win over last week's Cinderella, All World. On this week, the carriage turned into a pumpkin for Coach Dourisseau's boys. Half the offense was supplied by QB Rich Gannon, who tossed 4 TD passes for the week. Az-Hakim added 8 points. The rest of All World's lineup maintained it's season scoring average--zero! The backfield combined for--zero! Norris covered its ass by starting both Mike Anderson and Terrell Davis in the backfield. Davis scored 8 points. Norris got two other Broncos TDs from Ed McCaffrey. That left little for All World's Rod Smith. With the win, the Norris improve to 5-5 while All World stumbles to 4-6 on the year heading into next week's game against Grandmaster G. The Norris plays the Strange Highways.

Clams Flex Mussels; Take Revenge On Montezuma

With balanced scoring from 6 different starters, the Bearded Clams showed that there's still life under the sea as they defeated the reeling Montezuma's Revenge 35-20. After starting 3-0, the Revenge have dropped five of their last seven. The Clams were led by K Todd Peterson's 7 points. Four other starters scored a TD each and QB Jim Miller threw for an additional TD. The Clams have the best intra-division record at 3-1. It's the rest of the league that they're having trouble with, going 0-6 outside the division. The only Revenge scoring was Keyshawn Johnson's 12 points and 8 points from Stephen Davis. New starters James Allen and Eric Moulds were held scoreless and new TE Rickey Dudley and his 12 points were both left on the bench. At 5-5, the Revenge were fortunate to lose no Cheatem ground as their co-divison leader Greenback Iguanas also fell in Week 10. In fact, the Cheatem is beginning to slowly shape-shift into 2000's version of the 1997 (Muddy) Moe division that saw the only sub .500 club to ever make the OFFL playoffs at 7-8. The Revenge will meet PMS in Week 11. The Clams, at 3-7, are amazingly only 2 games out of the lead in this (unfunny) joke of a division. While still needing substantial help from around the league, the Clams can continue to do their own part beginning next week with their game against the Retreads.

Highways Top 30, 40, 50; Scale Iguanas By 40 Points

The Strange Highways, fresh off their gameday morning multi-player deal with Montezuma's Revenge, ingited and exploded all over the Greenback Iguanas for a rousing 59-19 victory after only once all season having cracked even 30 points. Four starters finished in double figures for the Highways, led by Amani Toomer's 14. Joe Nedney add 13 while Jeff Blak and newcomer Shannon Sharpe had 12 apiece. The Iguanas had difficulty matching any two player combination of Highway starters as they tallied a total of 19 points for the week. Matt Stover led the way with 9 points while Emmitt Smith had 8 and TE Tony Gonzalez added 2 points on 100 yards receiving. The Iguanas lost no ground in the Cheatem because co-leader Montezuma's Revenge also fell in Week 10. At 5-5, the Iguanas hope to recover next week against the 6-3-1 King of Dogs while the suddenly revitalized, yet 3-7 Highways will take on the NFC Norris in Week 11. As is the case with the Bearded Clams, the Highways actually still have a shot at this division due to the weak play from the co-leaders. The Highways trail by only 2 games despite their record.

Mystics Sweep Retreads; Take Back First In Howe Division

The Natural Mystics posted 50+ points for the 2nd time this season against the Retreads to post a hard fought 50-42 victory in Week 10 action. The win allowed the Mystics to take back possession (along with the King of Dogs) of 1st place in the Howe division after losing it last week with its 34-33 loss to All World. The Mystics recovered quickly, however. Brian Griese led the way with 10 points to lead seven starters in scoring. Only the defense and Marshall Faulk failed to score. Faulk was a gametime scratch. Robert Smith and Gary Anderson had 8 points each while four other starters had 6 points apiece. For the Retreads, Derrick Alexander posted a game high 14 points. Daunte Culpepper and Ryan Longwell had 8 points each. However, the Retreads left two TDs apiece on the bench from Terrance Mathis and Andre Rison. The 6-4 Retreads will meet the Bearded Clams in Week 11 while the 6-3-1 Mystics take on Dewey division leader Palace of Swords (7-3).

Dogs Rely On Ground Game To Get Past Grandemaster G

Led by Edgerrin James' 12 points and single touchdowns from Charlie Garner and Tony Richardson, the King of Dogs defeated Grandmaster G 36-20. The only other points for the Dogs were Jason Elam's 12 kicking points. Grandmaster G never really got any offense going on the day. Trent Green led the way with 11 points. The only other points scored were Michael Pittman's TD, 100 yards from Torry Holt and a single kicking point from Kris Brown. The Dogs improved to 6-3-1entering their Week 11 game versus the Greenback Iguanas while the 3-7 Gigis take on All World next week in a game that someone has to win.
