We are now wide awake...

March 15, 2000

Rockets 85 Knicks 91

... and The Dream is truly over.

We have known it for a while now. Even if we didn't want to admit it, we all knew it was true. For almost 15 years, we had experienced what most sports fans can only fantasize about. Night after night, Hakeem Olajuwon gave us a spectacular show. With his legendary Dream shake, he left us with our mouths wide open in amazement.

It seemed like it would never end. Damn, we never even thought about the possibility of it ending. The All- Star games, the MVP trophies, the records, all of them were the norm. If he didn't make All-NBA First Team, we would be disappointed.

I sat there for about ten minutes after the game, speechless. "Now it's truly over. The end of an era," I said to myself. I just couldn't believe what had happened that night. Patrick Ewing destroying Hakeem. 16 points, 6 turnovers, and less than 50% shooting. What? No, those weren't Dream's disastrous numbers. Those were Ewing's. Prepare to cry. Dream's stats; 4 points, 0-9 from the field. Well, at least he can still hit his Free Throws.

It's just unbelieveable to think that this man was MVP in this league. Four minutes into the game, the man was worn out. I guess Patrick was a little too energetic for his liking.

To think that we'll have to put up with this heartless crap for another year scares me. It's obvious he just doesn't gi

ve a damn. I though that Hakeem would turn things on, seeing that he was playing his old rival. Not a chance.

Dream is my favorite player of all time. I guess you could say he's the reason why I'm the biggest Rocket fan I know in person. But I'm tired of hearing all the shit from my fellow NBA fans. Please, Dream. Please. You're just making it too damn hard for us. At least try next time...

The Good...

Backcourt 2000. Shandon and Franchise lead a late run and show some heart.

The Bad...

Pat Ewing. Damn, this guy's old.

The Ugly...

Hakeem Olajuwon. I guess those rumors of him being older than thought are true. The guy must have been born in 1920, the way he's playing.
