JAM Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Decade of JAMs Began June 12, 1993

YONKERS, N.Y. (June 12, 2003) -- The JAM has hit double digits.

The venerable Yonkers-based annual softball game marked its 10th anniversary Thursday, capping a year that began last June 22 with DecathaJAM.

"I have a hard time believing that it's been a full 10 years since that fateful Saturday afternoon at Cook Field," JAM founder and commissioner Mike Campoli said. "I was amazed at the number of people who showed up to play then, and I'm even more surprised by the wide array of folks who have shown up every year since then to help us push The JAM to ever higher levels. But as impressive as it is to think that we are 10 years removed from JAM I, it is even more impressive to realize that we're a mere 16 days away from JAM XI!"

A group of 19 JAMmers assembled at Cook Field June 12, 1993, for the inaugural JAM. The Patches defeated the Boom Boxers 11-9 to begin the storied series between the clubs.
