Knights Split at Future Stars Tourney
Knights Fall In Opener As Pritzlaff, Vilardi Pace Balanced Attack - Greenwich Academy 4/20/01 - In their first game of the season, the Lady Knights started hot. Using offensive rebounds and solid perimeter shooting, they opened a 12-6 lead over the first 5 minutes. Hudson Valley connected on their first 5 shots. A put back by Kim Boone, jump shots by Kiely Donnelly and Kristen Vilardi, and a pair of  baskets by Maureen VanVorst. The Knights went flat on offense, going scoreless for 6 minutes, yielding a 13-0 run by the opponents. A VanVorst jumper ended the Breeze rally and ignited the Knights. Vilardi scored on a drive to the hoop, and then on a cut to the basket, bringing the Knights within 3. Down the stretch in the first half, the Breeze were over the foul limit, and Lisa Pritzlaff connected on 3 of 4 free throws to keep the Lady Knights close, trailing by 3 at the half. Unfortunately, the shooting woes reappeared for the start of the second half, as they missed their first 10 shoots, going scoreless over the first 7 minutes. The defense played well, allowing only 6 points over the same stretch, as the Lady Knights found themselves down by 9. Vilardi hit a free throw, then Donnelly found Pritzlaff on an inbound play, slowly bringing the Knights back. After the breeze hit a trey, a Pritzlaff free throw and a drive by Donnelly kept Hudson Valley within 6 with 6 minutes remaining. Boone drove to the hoop for a basket closing the margin to 4, but the Knights would get no closer. The Breeze went into a slow down offense and basically exchanged baskets the rest of the way. Colleen Kelly picked up a loose ball and found Pritzlaff in transition for a lay-up. A trey by Pritzlaff and an other Kelly to Pritzlaff breakaway ended the scoring for the Knights. Overall, the Lady Knights played well, but could not overcome the 2 6 minute segments that the offense stalled. Pritzlaff led the Knights with 13 points, while Vilardi netted 8 with 3 assists. VanVorst ended the game with 7 points and Donnelly chipped in 6 with 2 assists. Boone scored 5 to round out the offense. HV Lady Knights 39  -  Connecticut  Breeze A 45

Albany Capitols Take Charge Against Hudson Valley Knights - Greenwich Academy 4/21/01 - Hudson Valley had some problems in the first half. Early on it was the press that gave them difficulty, later it was their strong inside game. Albany took a quick 4 point lead, then Sue Cianci found Lisa Pritzlaff on a cut to the basket for an old fashioned 3 point play. The Capitols started to pull away as the Knights countered with a free throw by Kim Boone and a drive to the hoop by Kristen Vilardi. The Hudson Valley offense continued to struggle and found themselves down 18-6 at the 5 minute mark. Despite a take by Kiely Donnelly and a 3 point play by Boone, the Lady Knights could not close the gap. After Kelly Mallon hit a pair of free throws, the Knights trailed 27-13 at the break. The second half saw much the same. The Capitols started with a 5-0 run, before Colleen Kelly connected on a foul shot. Cianci picked up another assist on a nice feed to Maureen VanVorst who completed the 3 point play. Laura  Cadden added a basket in transition as the Knights trailed 41-19. With 7:50 remaining, Donnelly and Pritzlaff each hit a jump shot and the Donnelly found Kelly cutting to the basket as the Lady Knights tried to make a run. Another Pritzlaff outside shot and a Donnelly cut inside, edged the Knights back, but it was too late. Vilardi would add another free throw, but Hudson Valley would yield a 6-0 run to finish the game down 51-30. The Lady Knights were simply out played in this contest. They gave up many second chance opportunities to the Capitols, but only pulled down 5 offensive rebounds of their own. HV Lady Knights 30  -  Albany Capitols 51

VanVorst, Boone Power Knights To Victory - Greenwich Academy 4/21/01 - This high scoring game, started out pretty fast. Kiely Donnelly drove to the hoop for Hudson Valley's first points, then an offensive put back by Maureen VanVorst had the Knights up 4. North East Pa. scored 6 straight and Hudson Valley tied it on a cut to the  basket by Kim Boone on a feed from Kristen Vilardi. The offense stayed on track as Laura Cadden connected on  free throw and Kelly Mallon dished to Lisa Pritzlaff on the inside. NE Pa took the lead with a 5 point rally, but Pritzlaff scored 4 points in transition to keep the Knights close. The Knights fought back and trailed by 1 after VanVorst scored on the fast break and Sue Cianci hit a jumper. The Knights started a rally of their own as VanVorst and Boone went strong to the hoop. Donnelly stole a ball at half court, going in for a lay-up, and the outside shots by Natalie Serkowski, Boone, and Mallon (trey) put the Knights up 5. The Knights closed the first half scoring with 3 free throws, 2 by Cianci, and 1 by Christina Buso. As NE Pa closed the period on n 8-3 run, the score was tied at the break. The Hudson Valley squad opened the second half with the offense on track. VanVorst converted 4 free throws, while Vilardi scored 5 with  a trey and a drive to the basket. Kim Boone used an offensive rebound to add to 2 the board, while Buso drained 2 free throws. The Lady Knights had built their largest lead of the game, 46-39. The offense stalled and as NE Pa scored 8 unanswered points the Knights trailed by 1. As Buso and Donnelly combined for 3 more foul shots, the Knights trailed by 2 with 5:00 remaining. Hudson Valley needed a spark, and they found it with transition defense. As NE Pa was going on a fast break to take a 4 point lead, Serkowski hustled back to the middle to intercept the pass, and made a quick pitch to Vilardi, a long pass to VanVorst, and underneath to Boone for a lay-up and the tie. The Knights closed the game on a 12-4 run, with VanVorst leading the charge. She scored on a turn around jumper in the paint and converted 4 of 6 free throws. Donnelly and Pritzlaff hit 3 of 4 free throws and Cianci scored at the buzzer to give the Knights a 63-55 victory.  VanVorst ended the game with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Boone finished with 10 points and 2 steals. The key to this game was the higher intensity level, the up tempo game, solid foul shooting. . The Lady Knights were strong going to the basket, finding the foul line 28 times, and making 21 attempts. HV Lady Knights 63 - NE Pa.

Keller Leads Knights To Victory - Greenwich Academy 4/22/01 - Right from the opening tip, it was obvious that the Lady Knights were glad Kristin Keller was back.  She won the opening tip, and 2 passes later she had a lay-up. She then grabbed a rebound and made a strong outlet pass to Kiely Donnelly, who went in for lay-up. Keller scored once again from the inside on a feed from Kristen Vilardi. The offense stalled, but it was a Keller steal and pass to Kelly Mallon that broke the streak. Vilardi and Mallon each scored on drives to the basket, and Lisa Pritzlaff stole a pass at mid court and went in for a lay-up. The Knights returned to the inside game as Keller added 4 more points, and Christina Buso scored from the post. Hudson Valley finished the half with 20 points, but played solid defense and allowed only 12. The second half started the same, the Knights were looking for Keller. Vilardi found her in the post, Laura Cadden came down with an offensive rebound and made a nice touch pass, and then Keller was on the receiving end of a fast break. Vilardi added a basket and the Knights had opened up a 28-14 lead. The Breeze went on an 8 point run, before the Knights went back to work. Buso scored on an offensive put back, Boone added 2 on a baseline drive, and Donnelly hit a jumper. With 8 minutes remaining, the Lady Knights pushed the lead back to 12. The teams exchanged some baskets, then the Breeze went on  a run, cutting the lead to 5. Donnelly made a nice spinning move in the lane to stop the run and help seal the win. Knights Simply Awesome, Winning Thunderbird Invitational

Keller, Pritzlaff, Vilardi Lead Potent Knights Offense Over New Hampshire - West Rutland High School 5/13/01 - The Lady Knights started strong, scoring 15 points over the first 6 minutes. Kristin Keller opened the scoring with a free throw, then scored from the post on a feed by Kim Boone. Kiely Donnelly stole a ball on the side line, found Lisa Pritzlaff on the break, who dished it Maureen VanVorst under the basket to give the knights a 5-3 lead. Hudson Valley found Keller on the inside again, while Donnelly connected on a pair of free throws. Donnelly then led a fast break with a feed to Pritzlaff, opening up a 11-3 lead. After Keller and Kristen Vilardi each scored from the inside, the offense stalled. The score was 15-11 when Christina Buso drove to the hoop to break the drought. The Lady Knights missed a series of free throws and did not score again until Vilardi hit a trey to start a 12-2 run by Hudson Valley. A jumper by VanVorst, a fast break basket by Kim Boone, and a cut to the hoop by Vilardi, pushed the offense. Pritzlaff converted the front end of a pair of free throws, while VanVorst grabbed the the rebound on the second and scored on the put back. The Lady Knights had built a 29-13 lead. New Hampshire fought back late in the half, scoring 5 unanswered points, but the Knights countered with 2 from VanVorst and a pair of  Keller foul shots. The Rising Stars hit a half court buzzer beater to close the half, as the Knight led 33-25 at the break. Hudson Valley opened the second half with an amazing 17-0 run. Colleen Kelly started it with 2 free throws. Transition baskets came from Keller and Pritzlaff. Perimeter shooting contributed 11 points. Pritzlaff hit 2 treys, while Vilardi hit a trey and jumper. Down the stretch, Buso and Vilardi each hit free throws, while Boone added 4 points in the paint. The Knights ran away with a 68-44 victory. Boone ended the game with 4 assists, while Pritzlaff had 3. VanVorst, Keller, and Buso each had 4 rebounds in the game. They played an outstanding game, shooting 50% from the floor and committing only 5 turn overs. The only weak spot in the first half was 6-15 shooting from the free throw line, but the Knights came back in the second to  convert 10 of 11 attempts. The offense showed versatility, feeding the post, hitting the outside  shot, and running the floor. An impressive way to start the tournament. HV Lady Knights 68  -  New Hampshire Shooting Stars 44

Keller, Donnelly Lead Knights Over Vermont National Team - West Rutland High School 5/13/01 - In what seemed to be the premier matchup of the weekend, the Hudson Valley squad took on the Vermont Lightning 17U National Team. The Knights throughout the first half in a closely played game. Over the first 3 minutes, only 3 points were scored - a free throw by Colleen Kelly and a basket by Maureen VanVorst. After a nice pump fake and jump shot by Kiely Donnelly, Vermont hit a trey. Hudson Valley used good ball movement to get inside shots for Kristin Keller and Kim Boone. The Lightning answered with 4 before Lisa Pritzlaff hit a foul shot. A Pritzlaff steal found Donnelly on the break, and then an inbound lob to Keller pushed the Knights to a 14-7 lead. The game remained close as Keller an Pritzlaff each drained a pair of free throws. Buso scored from the post, and a nice pick and  roll found VanVorst for the final points of the half. Hudson Valley held a 22-18 lead. The Lady Knights started the second with a 13-4 run. Boone started the attack with a baseline take for an old fashioned 3 point play. Donnelly led the rally scoring 6 points, while Keller and Vilardi each added 2. When the Lightning tried press, Hudson Valley went to the transition game, using good ball movement and speed to start another 16-3 rally. Buso, Keller, and Pritzlaff each scored 4, while Vanvorst hit a jumper, and Sue Cianci scored a transition basket. The Knights had opened up a 51-25 lead over Vermont. Down the stretch, Vilardi and Kelly each connected on free throw attempts to close the scoring. The offense had posted 54 points, while a stingy defense allowed only 31. Donnelly finished the game with 10 points and 3 assists, while Keller scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Buso and Pritzlaff combined for 8 rebounds and 7 steals, while VanVorst and Keller blocked 5 shots to help shut down the Lightning offense. This was outstanding showing against a national team. Buso, Boone, and VanVorst Highlight Knights Dominating Effort - Castleton State College 5/14/01 - As the saying goes, "When it rains, it pours". When the Vermont Rain took the court against Hudson Valley, the Lady Knights poured it on. Although the Knights started slow, failing on their first 5 possessions, and falling behind 2-0 early, the outcome was in little doubt. The Knights used their inside presence, outside shooting, and a relentless running game, en route to a 70-21 victory. All of the Hudson Valley players scored, 4 of them in double digits. The passing was outstanding as Kristen Vilardi picked up 6 assists, while Colleen Kelly and Christina Buso each had 4. The scoring barrage saw points falling from all aspects of the game. Buso was effective inside collecting 10 points, 6 of them off the offensive glass while gathering 12 rebounds. Boone used a combination of  jump shots and drives to the hoop, also collecting 10 points. Vilardi hit from the outside and scored in transition to lead the team with 11 points. Keller made her presence felt in the paint as she hit short jumpers and put back offensive rebounds. Maureen VAnVorst put 9 points on the board, while Kelly and Lisa Pritzlaff added 7 and 6 respectively. Sue Cianci scored 5 points and collected 5 rebounds. Kiely Donnelly added 2 points to round out the offense. The Lady Knights shot 50 % from the floor and converted 7 0f 11 free throws. Defensively they came up with 13 steals, limiting the opponents to 21 points. An outstanding team effort for the 3rd win of the weekend.  HV Lady Knights 70  -  Vermont Rain 21

Lady Knights Put On Clinic, Eileen & Trevor Put On Half Time Show - Mill River High School 5/14/01 - The only way to describe it is "AWESOME". Hudson Valley put on a basketball clinic against the Arlington Magic. Excellent ball movement constantly found the open shooter, as the Knights hit 62% of their shots. You name, the Knights showed it - jump shots, cuts to the hoop, back door cuts, baseline drives, and a phenomenal running game. Some of the highlights were Christina Buso scoring 9 points early from the inside. Kristen Vilardi's take to the hoop with the left handed scoop layup. Kim Boone on the baseline take, and then the scoop layup as she had a clear out playing the point. Kristin Keller on the inbound lob play. Lisa Pritzlaff feeding Keller in the post, and then KEller feeding Pritzlaff in the post. Maureen VanVorst knocking down jump shots and running the floor. Sue Cianci draining the outside shot. Kiely Donnelly driving the lane and running the fast break with Colleen Kelly and Pritzlaff. Six Lady Knights scored in double digits en route to the 89-27 victory. Pritzlaff led the way with 17, Boone added 14, while VanVorst and Keller each had 13. Buso's presence on the inside accounted for 10 points, while Kelly was strong in the transition game also putting 10 on the board. Vilardi and Donnelly each added 4 , while Cianci rounded out the offense with 2. In a great all around game, 5 players had at least 3 assists. On the boards, Cianci had 6 rebounds, Boone and Buso each collected 5. Boone and Keller combined for 7 steals, while Keller and Pritzlaff blocked 6 shots. As I said earlier - "SIMPLY AWESOME". During half-time, the teams and fans were treated to what we will now refer to as the Eileen & Trevor show. Small children with big basketball dreams having fun on the court. I think this weekend can be easily summed up by saying the Knights were too good, and the kids too cute.  HV Lady Knights 89  -  Arlington Magic 21

Knights Take 3 At New Haven
Vilardi, Pritzlaff Lead Offense As Knights Pounce On The Lady Cats - Southern Ct State Univ. 5/19/01 - Kristen Vilardi and Lisa Pritzlaff combined for 25 points and 5 steals to lead Hudson Valley. Kelly Mallon and Kristin Keller each scored 8 points, Kim boone added 6, and Sue Cianci tallied 4. Natalie Serkowski and Christina Buso scored 2 to round out the offense. Keller grabbed 9 rebounds and had 4 blocks, while Cianci pulled down 5 boards.    HV Lady Knights 55  -  New Hampshire Lady Cats 33

Serkowski, Mallon Lead Balanced Attack Over The Breeze - Yale University 5/19/01 - Hudson Valley built a 22-14 lead at half time and won 36-29. Natalie Serkowski and Kelly Mallon each scored 6 points and had 3 steals. Maureen VanVorst pitched in 6 points for the offense, while Kristen Vilardi added 8 points and 5 rebounds. Kristin Keller and Colleen Kelly scored 3 points, while Kim Boone and Lisa Pritzlaff each had 2 to round out the offense. Keller and Sue Cianci combined for 9 rebounds.  HV Lady Knights 36  -  Ct. Donnelly, Vilardi Spark Rallies As Knights Fall Short - Yale University 5/20/01 - The Hudson Valley Knights scored against the press as Kiely Donnelly hit a layup. The Lady Knights then had difficulties with turn overs. Nova Scotia went on a 13-0 run over the next 5 minutes. Hudson Valley used the offensive glass to put points on the board. Natalie Serkowski and Sue Cianci each scored on an offensive put back. Lisa Pritzlaff was fouled and converted both free throws. Donnelly hit a jumper and Pritzlaff scored twice in transition on steals by Kristen Vilardi and Kim Boone. Hudson Valley trailed at the half 23-14, hitting only 6 of 21 shot attempts. The Lady Knights started strong in the second half as Donnelly drove down the lane for 2. Kelly Mallon picked up a loose ball in the lane for a layup and a Hudson Valley rally was on. Maureen VanVorst hit a long jump shot and Donnelly drained one from the baseline. Over the first 4 minutes, the Lady Knights had closed the gap to 1 point. The teams exchanged baskets as Vilardi had a nice drive to the left and Boone grabbed a rebound and went coast to coast. The offense stalled and Nova Scotia scored 13 consecutive points. Pritzlaff nailed a trey and Cianci scored against the press as the Knights found themselves trailing 47-31 with just over 2 minutes remaining. Hudson Valley had one last run as Boone scored from the post, a pair of treys by Vilardi and 4 points by Mallon pulled the Knights within 4. After Nova Scotia scored, Vilardi hit another trey with 15 seconds remaining. Hudson Valley was forced to foul and Nova Scotia converted both free throws to finish the game. The Lady knights made a valiant effort, but could not overcome the numerous turn overs. Vilardi ended the game with 11 points, while Pritzlaff and Donnelly added 9 and 8 respectively.   HV Lady Knights 46  -  Nova Scotia 51

Pritzlaff, Buso Have Hot Hand As Lady Knights Rout Magic - Hamden High School 5/20/01 - Hudson Valley squared off against the Queens Magic, formerly the Silver Bullets. In a game that had the makings of a real battle, the Lady Knights got on top early with solid  defense and won easily. The Knights used a balanced attack, but it was the hot shooting of Lisa Pritzlaff and Christina Buso that led the way. They each scored 10 points, combining to hit 9 of 12 shots from the floor. Pritzlaff hit a turn around jumper in the lane, a baseline jumper, and a pair of treys. Buso hit from the outside, from the post, and off the offensive glass to make 5 of 7 shots. Kristen Vilardi was strong going to the hoop as she scored on a baseline take, a cut to the basket, and a running jumper in the lane. Kim Boone, Maureen VanVorst, and Kelly Mallon each scored 5 points. Boone grabbed an offensive rebound for a put back, and later stepped behind the arc for a trey. Mallon stole  pass at half court and went in for a layup and also hit 3 of 4 free throws. VanVorst hit 2 baskets and a free throw. To round out the scoring, Kiely Donnelly (drive), Sue Cianci (jumper), and Colleen Kelly (put back) each posted 2 points on the board. Donnelly finished the game with 3 assists, while Mallon, Boone, and Pritzlaff each had 2. Buso and Cianci grabbed 5 rebounds, while Natalie Serkowski, Boone, and VanVorst pulled in 4. Overall, Hudson Valley played a solid game, specifically on defense. They help the Magic to 4 points in the first half and won the game 47-25.  HV Lady Knights 47  -  Queens Magic 25

Knights Win 3 In Hartford
Knights Fall In Opening Game Against Starters National Team - Central Ct State Univ. 5/26/01 - Hudson Valley opened the tournament against a strong Starter team. Kristin Keller opened the scoring from the post on a lob pass from Kristen Vilardi. The Starters ran off 7 points before a Keller block led to a fast break basket by Kelly Mallon. Kiely Donnelly tied the score at 7 with an offensive rebound and an old fashioned 3 point play. A 7 point Starter run was stopped by a dish from Vicki Koster to Keller in the paint. The Lady Knights trailed 18-9 and started a rally. Lisa Pritzlaff grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled, converting both free throws. Kim Boone stole a pass and went coast to coast while Vilardi hit both ends of  a one and one. After Donnelly connected on 1 foul shot and then hit a jumper, the Knights were within 1 point, trailing 18-19. The Starters scored the final basket of the half to keep a 3 point lead at the break. After Keller scored on  a feed from Koster, the Starters ran off 14 points. Hudson Valley answered with a Keller shot in the paint, and a trey by Boone. The Knights were finding it hard to get good looks. Keller scored from the post and Donnelly stole an outlet pass for a layup. SUe Cianci scored in transition as the Knights tried to get within 10 points. Hudson Valley could not hold off the Starters and continue to lose ground. Donnelly scored the last 3 points on a drive to the hoop and a free throw. The Lady Knights yielded some easy transition baskets and missed a few lay-ups of their own. Despite the 11 point effort of both Keller and Donnelly, the Knights struggled to score, shooting 1 for 9 from behind the arc, and committing 21 turn overs.   HV Lady Knights 35  -  Connecticut Starters National 51

Vilardi, Pritzlaff Light It Up, As Keller Closes Door For Knights Victory - Central Ct. State Univ. 5/26/01 - Hudson Valley opened a nice lead in the first half behind some hot shooting from Kristen Vilardi and Lisa Pritzlaff. As Hudson Valley lost the lead in the second half, it was Kristin Keller scoring 8 points down the stretch to preserve the victory. Maureen VanVorst put the Knights on the board with an offensive rebound. A jumper by Pritzlaff and a trey by Vilardi tied the score at 7. Colleen Kelly hit a free throw and then drove the baseline to put the Knights up by 3. After Connecticut tied it once again, back to back treys by Pritzlaff and Vilardi put Hudson Valley back on top. Kelly Mallon hit a foul shot, Keller scored from the post and then Keller stepped behind the arc for a trey. Pritzlaff drove the left side and hit a stop and pop, while a take to the hoop by Donnelly gave the Knights a 26-16 lead. Kelly scored in transition and Pritzlaff connected on another trey to give the Knights a 31-22 lead at the half. The Lady Knights opened the half with a 6-2 run behind baskets by Pritzlaff, Boone, and Vilardi. Team Connecticut would start a rally of their own, scoring 9 unanswered points. Vilardi scored from the post and Pritzlaff hit a free throw, but Connecticut scored 6 more to take a 41-40 lead over the Hudson Valley squad. The Lady Knights responded by finding Keller in the post. Keller stole a pass and finding Colleen Kelly for a fast break basket. Vilardi drove to the hoop for 2, and Donnelly fed Keller in the post again, as the Knights rattled off 8 points. After Connecticut scored 4, the Knights transition game kicked in.  A Pritzlaff free throw and 2 more baskets by Keller closed the scoring as the Knights won 53-45. Pritzlaff ended the game with 14 points, Keller scored 13, while Vilardi posted 12 for Hudson Valley. Colleen Kelly added 7. Vilardi dished out 4 assists, while Donnelly and Natalie Serkowski each had 2. Kim Boone and Laura Cadden each had 3 steals to spark the Knights defense.  HV Lady Knights 53  -  Team Ct. 45

Keller, Serkowski Lead Balanced Attack As Knights Shoot Down New Hampshire Stars - Central Ct. State University 5/27/01 - The Hudson Valley Knights started the gamme with an 8-1 run and it was all but over. They quickly turned it into a 10 point lead and extended it to 15 at half time. The Knights were simply too strong, too fast, and too good - shooting 50% from the floor and converting 15 of 18 free throws. The offense was led by Kristin Keller and Natalie Serkowski. Keller scored 10 points on 5 baskets. She showed post moves, a turn around jumper in the lane, and finished in transition. She also grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Serkowski posted 9 points, hitting a trey, driving to the hoop, finishing a layup, and converting a pair of free throws. Kiely Donnelly added 6 points with 2 takes to the basket and 2 fouls shots. Maureen VanVorst scored 4 of her 6 points from the charity stripe and also finished a fast break. Lisa Pritzlaff scored 5 with a take to the hoop and 3 free throws. Kelly Mallon hit a jumper and spinning layup for a 3 point play and 5 points in the game. Keller, Pritzlaff Ground The Vermont Lightning  - Holy Cross High School 5/27/01 - In a remmatch from the Vermont tournament, Hudson Valley squared off against the the Vermont National Team ( the Lightning).  Although revenge was perhaps on the mind of the Vermont squad, the Knights showed their first win was no accident. The Lady Knights showed an impressive arsenal of  weapons. A powerful inside game, excellent passing , executing the give an go, and finding cutters. Strong drives to the basket and a solid transition game gave Hudson Valley many easy looks at the hoop. The Knights shot over 50 % from the floor, came away with 11 steals, and committed only 12 turn overs. Leading the offense was Kristin Keller and Lisa Pritzlaff, combining to hit 12 of 13 shots from the floor as well as 4 free throws. Kiely Donnelly and Kelly Mallon each scored 9 points, while Kim Boone added 7. All of the Knights scored as Natalie Serkowski connected for 5 (including a trey), Kristen Vilardi had 4, Maureen VanVorst and Colleen Kelly each had 3, and Laura Cadden added 2 to round out the scoring. Keller grabbed 5 rebounds, while Boone and VanVorst pulled in 4 and 3 respectively. The Knights closed the weekend with another big win against a good team. Knights Rule At Joust
Keller, Boone, Mallon Highlight Knights Win Over Knicks - Our Lady Of Lourdes High School 6/2/01 - Hudson Valley squared off against the WBA Knicks and started out strong. The Lady Knights rattled off the first 20 points of the game. They hit their first 5 shots, as Lisa Pritzlaff and Kristin Keller scored from the post, Kelly Mallon hit 2 jump shots, and Kiely Donnelly hit a pair of free throws. The Knights attack continued as Donnelly drove to the hoop for 2, Maureen VanVorst scored on an offensive rebound, and Keller added 4 (2 free throws and a basket in the paint). A jump shot by Donnelly ended the 20 point run. Colleen Kelly drained an outside shot, then used a base line take to give the Knights a 24-5 lead. The Lady Knights maintained the lead over the next few minutes as Kim Boone hit a trey and scored on a baseline take, while Keller and Christina Buso connected on 3 free throws. The Knicks had started a 7 point run when Pritzlaff converted 2 foul shots. The Knicks press was not very effective as the Knights found Buso in transition and she was fouled 3 times, converting 4 of 6 free throws. Keller drove to the hoop giving the Knights a 15 point lead. The Hudson Valley squad spent the next couple minutes at the foul line, connecting on 7 of 12 attempts. The scoring ended on baskets by Pritzlaff and Kelly cutting to the hoop on nice feeds from VanVorst and Donnelly. Keller ended the game with 13 points, while Pritzlaff and Donnelly each added 7. Boone and Mallon each posted 6 to the score board. Laura Cadden dished out 3 assists, while VanVorst and Keller each had 2. On the glass, Keller and VanVorst combined for 14 rebounds. Donnelly, Pritzlaff, Keller, Vilardi Provide Capitol Punishment In Win Over Albany - Our Lady Of Lourdes High School 6/2/01 - Hudson Valley had a rematch against a team that beat them soundly 5 weeks ago. Although the game started much the same, the tide turned several minutes into the game. After Albany opened with a 6-0 run, Kristin Keller put back an offensive rebound and Laura Cadden hit a jumper. The Capitols scored 7 more unanswered points as the sluggish Knights were having difficulties. Coach Giorgis used his third time out and "quietly" explained that they were being out hustled, and simply getting their butts kicked. It may have been the tongue lashing or it may have been that the Lady Knights realized that were getting thrashed in their own house, but they woke up. Kristen Vilardi drove to the hoop and was fouled, for an old fashioned 3 point play. Kelly Mallon followed with an offensive rebound, a left handed scoop, another 3 point play. Kiely Donnelly connected on 1 free throw after she was fouled, bringing the Knights within 2  points (11-13). After Albany scored, the Knights tied the score at 15, as Donnelly scored on a Keller dish, and Kim Boone scored on a nice drop step in the post. The Capitols hit a few fouls shots and trey to regain a 5 point lead, but the fight in the Knights was not going away. Vilardi stepped behind the arc to drain a trey, while Donnelly hit another free throw. The Capitols took a 3 point lead, but Hudson Valley closed the half with a 7 point run. Maureen VanVorst fed Keller in the post for a 3 point play. Kim Boone exploded on a baseline take to give Hudson Valley their first lead of the game.  Donnelly then found Lisa Pritzlaff  for a baseline jumper to close the half. The Lady Knights continued their roll in the second half. Cadden hit a free throw, Natalie Serkowski hit a trey, and Kelly Mallon hit a jumper in transition to give the Knights 10 point lead. The Capitols hit twice from the outside cutting the lead in half. Pritzlaff scored 2 times on cuts in the lane, fed by VanVorst and Donnelly. Boone stole a pass and was fouled going in for the lay up, converting both. Keller was then fouled in the post, and she made both shots to give the knights an 11 point lead with 7:30 remaining. The Capitols would not go quietly, scoring 5 points before Serkowski hit 2 free throws. A pair of treys by Albany made it a 2 point game. The teams exchanged baskets as Donnelly hit a jumper in transition with 4:39 remaining. Donnelly hit a free throw, while the Capitols connected on a pair to cut the Knights lead to 1, 45-44. Hudson Valley got a little breathing room as Pritzlaff hit a trey and then found Donnelly under the basket. Down the stretch, the Capitols could only manage 1 more 3 point basket, while Hudson Valley made 5 free throws, Donnelly and Vilardi each connecting on a pair to end the scoring. Donnelly ended the game with 11 points, Pritzlaff had 9, while Keller and Vilardi watch posted 8. Keller had 8 rebounds, Vilardi grabbed 4, and Kim Boone pulled in 3.  Hudson Valley played well to avenge a 19 point loss early in the year, and came away with a 55-48 victory.   HV Lady Knights 55  -  Albany Capitols 48

Keller, Boone Lead Hudson Valley Over Future Stars - Our Lady Of Lourdes High School 6/3/01 - The Lady Knights started the Sunday schedule against both friends and foes, the Future Stars. CHristina Buso opened the scoring with a base line jump shot and Colleen Kelly scored in transition, both on feeds from Kiely Donnelly. Kim Boone hit a turn around jumper in the lane giving the Knights a 6-3 advantage. A beautiful dish by Kristen Vilardi led to  a pair  of free throws by Kristin Keller. The Future Stars scored 6 straight to take a brief lead. Donnelly stole a pass and went coast to coast and Buso hit a free throw to knot the game at 11. A 6 point Knights run (Vilardi with 4, Boone with 2) was stopped by a trey. Keller was fouled after making a basket in the post, leading to a 3 point play and another Knights rally. Keller scored on an offensive put back and hit a 12 foot jump shot. Boone and Kelly Mallon each added baskets to give the knights a 28-16 half time lead. The Stars opened the second half with a trey, but the Knights responded as Donnelly found Lisa Pritzlaff for 2 consecutive baskets. Keller was left open behind the arc and hit a trey. Natalie Serkowski scored on a fast break on a long pass from Vilardi, opening up a 15 point lead. The offense continued to roll, as Donnelly had a nice take to the left, Boone completed a three point play in the paint, and Mallon found Keller with a lob. Vilardi hit a turn around in the lane and then dished one to Keller in the paint. With a 20 point lead, the Lady Knights were looking for icing on the cake. Pritzlaff hit a trey, and Buso scored the final 2 baskets to give the Knights a 55-34 win. Donnelly, VanVorst, Buso, Lead Balanced Attack As Knights Capture Bandits  - Our Lady Of Lourdes High School 6/3/01 - Although it looked like it might be an easy game before it started, the Knights were in for a battle. Natalie Serkowski hit a jumper but the Bandits came back and hit a trey. Christina Buso also hit an outside shot, but the Bandits put 4 more on the board. Kiely Donnelly scored on a take and Maureen VanVorst completed a 3 point play on a nice hook shot in the lane. Laura Cadden and VanVorst each scored off an offensive rebound. The Knights run continued as Vicki Koster hit a trey and Keller scored inside to give Hudson Valley a 10 point lead. The Bandits ran off 8 points before Vilardi drained a trey. Keller once again put back an offensive board, and Kim Boone dove the lane for a double pump lay up. The Knights extended their slim lead as Donnelly drove the baseline and Boone scored off an offensive rebound. The Knights held a 29-22 lead at the break. Hudson Valley continued to work on the inside as Buso, VanVorst, and Cadden each scored to keep a 7 point lead. Keller picked up 2 assists as she found Donnelly for a jumper and Buso on the inside. She then scored in the post. Good ball movement led to 2 easy baskets down the stretch as Pritzlaff and Donnelly cut to the basket for lay ups. Pritzlaff, Vilardi, Buso Propel Knights Past NorthStars  - Our Lady Of Lourdes High School 6/3/01 - The NorthStars started out hot from the outside and the Knights found themselves in a hole. Trailing by 4, Lisa Pritzlaff connected on a trey, but the New Jersey squad came back with a pair of treys and another basket, taking a 12-3 lead. After Christina Buso scored on a dish from Kristen Vilardi, the Knights spent a whole lot of time on the free throw line. They scored their next 11 points from the charity stripe on 16 attempts.  Kim Boone stole a pass and found Pritzlaff in transition, and then Pritzlaff returned the favor finding Boone for a baseline jumper. Vilardi drove to the hoop giving the Lady Knights a 22-21 lead. With time running out in the half, the Knights were playing for the last shot. Boone obliged, pulled up off the dribble and hit a 15 foot jump shot at the buzzer. The game stayed  tight despite a Buso baseline shot. The NorthStars connected on a trey, closing within 2, as the Knights countered with a trey of their own by Pritzlaff. The lead dwindled to 1 as the NJ team went on a 4 point run. The Knights started to extend the lead as Boone scored on a fast break, Keller hit a free throw and scored from the post, and Vilardi hit from downtown to give the Knights a 37-28 lead. The Knights built a 17 point lead and eventually won by 12. In the final quarter, Buso scored 6, Pritzlaff added 4 more, and Cadden hit 4 free throws. Pritzlaff led the Knights with 16 points, while Vilardi and Buso each posted 10 to the board. Vilardi dished out 5 assists, as Boone and Donnelly had 4 and 3 respectively. Keller grabbed 10 rebounds. The Knights finished this 5th and final game a little tired but came away with a solid performance and a an outstanding weekend. Hudson Valley Gives Boston "Knightmares"
Vilardi, Boone, VanVorst, Lead Knights Past Road Runners - Pine Manor College 6/23/01 - Due to an information blackout, the details of the first two games are a bit fuzzy. Fan consensus indicted that the gyms were hot and the Lady Knights played both sluggish and inconsistent. With only 8 players on Saturday, the Hudson Valley squad was looking for someone to step up. Kristen Vilardi scored 18 points including one trey and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Kim Boone added 15 points, converting 9 of 10 free throw attempts. Maureen VanVorst pitched in 12 to help the offense. Kelly Mallon added 5 points, Sue Cianci scored 4, while Colleen Kelly, Natalie Serkowski, and Christina Buso each scored 3 points. Vilardi, VanVorst, Buso Pace Victory Over The Hurricanes - Simmons  College 6/23/01 - With no reporters on hand, the little information about the game is available. Hudson Valley held on to win 52-48. Kristen Vilardi led the Knights with 17 points, while Maureen VanVorst and Christina Buso led the inside attack scoring 11 and 9 respectively. Kelly Mallon added 7 points, Kim Boone posted 6, and Colleen Kelly scored 2 to round out the offense. Hudson Valley converted 17 of 23 foul shots in the game. HV Lady Knights 52  -  NE Hurricanes 48

Boone, Donnelly Lead Balanced Attack Over Mass. BelleStars - Simmons College 6/24/01 - With 3 additional players showing up on Sunday, the Knights had all the fire power they needed. Hudson Valley fell behind by 2 before running off 6 points. Maureen VanVorst hit 2 free throws, Kristen Vilardi scored on a cut to the hoop, and Kim Boone drove for 2 more. The BelleStars hit a trey on a kick out  as the game remained close. VanVorst scored on a double pump shot in the lane, as the BelleStars answered with 3 free throws to tie it at 8. The Knights regained the lead as Kiely Donnelly found Sue Cianci in transition for a lay up. The Hudson Valley squad started to open up a lead as Boone drained 2 foul shots and Vilardi knocked down a trey. Hudson Valley used strength on the offensive glass and a running game to extend their lead. Donnelly and Buso scored on put backs, while Keller and Buso scored in the paint. Donnelly and Vilardi converted steals to fast break baskets, and Colleen Kelly and Natalie Serkowski posted points in transition. The Knights opened up a 32 - 16 lead at the half. The second half saw more of the same. Keller in the post, followed by a  Keller kick out to Mallon for an out side shot. Boone scored off a steal, while Keller and Cianci each added a basket in the paint. A trey from Vilardi opened up a 45-24 lead, and the Knights cruised from there. Donnelly and Boone each scored on takes to the basket, while Boone and Lisa Pritzlaff hit from the outside. The Knights' last basket came on an offensive put back by VanVorst. Keller, Boone, Pritzlaff, Make Palisades Jazz Sing The Blues - Simmons College 6/24/01 - The Knights started strong and played simply great. Hudson Valley built a 13-2 lead over the first 6 minutes. Kristen Vilardi scored on a take to the basket, and then dished one off to Kristin Keller in the paint. Lisa Pritzlaff hit a trey and Kiely Donnelly scored from the post. Donnelly blocked a shot, Natalie Serkowski picked up the loose ball and found Pritzlaff on the break. Donnelly grabbed an offensive rebound and  scored to close the run. After the Jazz scored 5, the Knights started another run. Colleen Kelly scored off a Vilardi steal, then Vilardi scored on a cut to the hoop. Keller hit a hook shot in the lane, then Buso added 4 points. Hudson Valley continued to roll and took a 36-15 lead at the half. The Lady Knights used great ball movement and the transition game to start the half with a 27-6 run. Hudson Valley dominated this game in all aspects. They committed only 7 turn overs, while grabbing 14 steals. They used 15 offensive rebounds to get many second chance points. They shot better than 50% from the floor. Boone, Keller and Pritzlaff led the attack each hitting double digits, while Vilardi and Buso each added 8. On the boards, Boone and Buso combined for 13 rebounds. Knights Take Pair At College Showcase
VanVorst, Keller, Donnelly Subdue Renegades - Greenwich Academy 7/8/01 - As the window opened for Division I coaches to scout players, the Lady Knights played a Sunday tournament. In their first game they took on the Pa. Renegades. The game started slow as the Knights did not shoot well, but played strong defense forcing many turn overs. The Lady Knights took a 6-0 lead behind the inside play of Maurren VanVorst, Kim Boone, and Kristin Keller. Kiely Donnelly drove to the hoop, giving the Knights an 8-1 lead. The Renegades posted 4 points before VanVorst added another 3 with a free throw and a fast break lay up. Keller converted 4 foul shots and Lisa Pritzlaff hit a baseline jumper pushing the Knights lead to 12. Hudson Valley ended the half yielding a 10-2 run, only managing a jump shot by VanVorst. The half time score stood at 19-15, but Hudson Valley used a strong suge to put it out of reach. Over the first 10 minutes, the Lady Knights went on a 21-2 run. Donnelly scored 4, Boone stole a pass, scoring in transition. VanVorst then added 4 points, while Natalie Serkowski and Pritzlaff hit jumpers. Colleen Kelly posted a fast break basket, then Kristin Vilardi scored a nice dish from VanVorst, then added a trey to end the run. Hudson Valley had built a 40-17 lead. Over the last several minutes the teams exchanged baskets. Keller hit twice from the post, Donnelly hit a pair of free throws, and Pritzlaff scored off a nice pick and roll with VanVorst. Keller and VanVorst combined for 15 rebounds, while Vilardi dished out 3 assists. The Lady Knights did not play well the first half, but were solid in the second, for a convincing victory.  HV Lady Knights 48  -  Pa. Renegades 22

Vilardi, Boone, Buso, Serkowski Push Knights Past Fencor - Greenwich Acadaemy 7/8/01- Afer the Lady Knights took an early 2-0 lead on basket by Kristin Keller in the paint, Fencor hit a pair of treys en route to a 7-1 advantage.Kiely Donnelly found Kim Boone on an inbounds play, she made the layup and the foul shot for an old fashioned 3 point play. Boone scored another 4 points on a steal and an offenseive rebound, to tie the game at 9. Hudson Valley opened up a lead as Kristen Vilardi hit a trey,  while Christina Buso and Lisa Pritzlaff followed with points in the paint. Fencor started a 7-2 run, as Natalie Serkowski scored the only basket in the stretch. The Lady Knights went to the inside game and the running game to get back on track. Keller scored on an inside feed and Kim Boone hit a pair of free throws after an offensive rebound. Boone stole a pass and went in for a basket, then Donnelly picked up a loose ball and went on a 2 on 1 break with Pritzlaff. Vilardi found Keller in the post, then she stepped outside for her second trey of the half. Buso scored on a nice give an go with Keller, then Colleen Kelly found her cutting down the lane for another basket. The Knights closed the half with a block by Keller, as Kelly Mallon picked up the ball and found Colleen Kelly on the fast break to give the Knights a 37-26 half time lead. The Knights opened strong as Donnelly scored the first 4 points, Boone added 2, and Vilardi put 6 on the board, giving the Knights a 15 point lead. A pair of  treys by Fencor cut the lead to single digits, but the Lady Knights responded. Serkowski hit a baseline jumper, pritzlaff connected on a free throw, and Maureen VanVorst put back an offensive rebound. Another jumper by Serkowski and free throws by Vilardi extended the lead to 17. Buso, Serkowski, and Mallon each scored down the stretch to help the Knihgts cruise to a 64 -43 win. Knights Take 4 At Future Stars - AGAIN
Vilardi, Boone Lead Knights Past LI Lightning - Greenwich Academy 7/13/01 - On a Friday tthe 13th, missing some players, the Lady Knights took on the Long Islnad Lightnning. In the end, Hudson Valley won the game 53-43. Kristen Vilardi led the Lady Knights with 16 points, induding a pair of treys. Kim Boone pitchhed in 9 points and Kristin Keller scored 7. Kiely Donnelly and Maureen VanVorst each added 6 points, Kelly Mallon scored 5, while Christina Buso and Colleen Kelly each had 2 to round out the offense.  HV Lady Knights 53  -  Long Island Lightning 43

Keller, Donnelly Pace Balanced Attack Over Maryland Hurricanes - Rye High School 7/14/01- This was clearly the most exciting game of the weekend, as the Lady Knights took on a good team from Maryland. The game started out  slow as both teams found it hard to score. Kim Boone scored  4 points early on an offensive rebound and a cut to the hoop. That was all the Lady Knights would find over the first 3 minutes. Lisa Pritzlaff entered the game and rattled off 8 consecutive points. She hit a trey, then Maryland came down court and answered with their own. She drove to the basket and converted an old fashioned 3 point play, then scored on a baseline take to give the Knights a 12-9 lead. Colleen Kelly scored in transition on a pass by Kiely Donnelly. After Kim Boone scored on an offensive rebound and Kristen Vilardi hit a pair of free throws, it seemed the Knghts were ready to roll as they opened up an 18-11 lead. The Hurricanes roared back, hitting a pair of treys and another basket to take a 1 point lead. Donnelly stopped the run with a jump shot, but another Maryland trey and a free throw extended the lead. As the half wound down, Pritzlaff scored on an offensive put back and Donnelly drained 2 foul shots giving Hudson Valley the lead once again. In the closing seconds the Hurricanes scored to take a 24-23 lead at the half. The Lady Knights started the second half on the wrong side of a 10-2 run. Vilardi hit a running hook in the lane, but the Hurricanes  hit 2 more treys in scoring their 10 points.  Donnelly hit a free throw after being fouled in the post and Kristin Keller buried a trey. The Knights were making a charge. Laura Cadden also connected from behind the arec, as Hudson Valley pulled within 2 at the 9:42 mark. Natalie Serkowski hit a jumper, and Sue Cianci hit 2 jumpers, to keep the Knights in striking distance. Down the stretch, it was Keller that led the attack. She hit another trey, scored on an offensive rebound, and then hit from the post to give Hudson Valley a 46-43 lead. Donnelly put the finishing touches on the win with a drive to the hoop.   HV Lady Knights 48  -  Maryland Hurricanes 45

Pritzlaff, Vilardi Lead Offense As Knights Groung Mass. Lightning - Greenwich Academy 7/13/01 - The Hudson Valley Lady Knights started strong and never looked back in this game. Kristen Vilardi opened the scoring on a drive to the basket, and then Maureen VanVorst scored twice on the fast break. Kristin Keller connected on an inbounds play, as the Knights started with an 8-0 run. After the Lightning hit a pair of free throws, Hudson Valley added 6 more. Another Vilardi drive, followed by a jumper from Christina Buso, and Colleen Kelly in the post. The first half run continued as Laura Cadden scored 3, Kim Boone hit 4, and Lisa Pritzlaff added 11 more. Christina Buso and Sue Cianci each added 2 as the Knights closed the half with a 37-11 lead. The second half was much the same. Hudson Valley hit from the outside, they scored from the inside, and they ran the floor. Vilardi hit a pair of treys en route to posting 8 more points, while Pritzlaff added 6. Boone scored in transition and off the offensive glass, while Serkowski and Kelly scored on the fast break. Buso and Donnelly added baskets to round out the second half attack. Boone and Keller each pulled in 5 rebounds, while Kelly had 3 steals in the game.   HV Lady Knights 65  -  East Mass. Pritzlaff, Serkowski, VanVorst Lead Knights Rout Over East Toronto - Greenwich Academy 7/13/01 - This was a Knights rout from the start. The opponents did not score a basket in the first half, held to just 3 free throws. Lisa Pritzlaff led the offense with 17 points, including a pair of treys. Natalie Serkowski hit 3 times from behind the arc, scoring 11 points in the game. Maureen VanVorst added 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Kristen Viladi posted 9 points, while Sue Cianci added 8 points. Kim Boone and Kristin Keller each scored 6, while Christina Buso and Kelly Mallon each had 4. Kiely Donnelly rounded out the offense with 2. The Hudson Valley team showed all their weapons in this game.
